교통수단 선택행태 분석을 위한 태도모형의 적용 및 평가 (Application and Evaluation of An Attitudinal Model for Travel Mode Choice Behavior Analysis)

  • In order to analyze travel mode choice behavior, behavioral models including logit model, based on revealed preference theory, have been using easily measurable variables such as individual socioeconomic characteristics and physical attributes of travel modes. But some recent attitudinal models of travel choice behavior have implied that the negligence of individual psychological variables and individual choice constraints in travel mode choice might preclude better prediction of individual travel mode choice behavior. In this context, this study was attempted to reconstruct an attitudinal model(AM), especially focused on the decision rules in travel mode choice decision making process, consistent with the conceptual framework relating individual attitude and choice constraints to choice behavior. And to evaluate the strengths of the AM to other comparative models(logit, linear-additive, conjunctive, lexicographic model) in predicting travel mode choice bebavior, an empirical study of the mode choice in work-trip to CBD in Seoul was performed. According to the results the percent of correct prediction(PCP) derived from the AM was higher than those derived from comparative models by at least 7 to 20% in predicting travel mode choice. But each model produced a different prediction accuracy depending on market segmentation by travel modal users, individual socioeconomic characteristics, transportation system characteristics, and satisfaction levels. The finding that different groups divided by a certain criterion employ different decision rules supports the necessity of developing a choice model such as the AM combining compensatory and noncompensatory decision rules, and suggests that a proposed transportation system management plan or policy may have different effects on each group.

Influence of Self-Construal on Choice of Overseas Travel Product Type

  • Purpose: Understanding which product types of overseas travel (free independent travel vs. package travel) consumers will choose is one of the key issues of marketing and consumer behavior in travel agency management. Prior studies on overseas travel type preferences mainly focused on comparing regional differences (e.g., Asian vs. Westerner, or Korean vs. Australian, or Korean vs. Japanese, or American, French, Italian vs. Japanese) influencing the choice of overseas travel type. Another researchers focused on comparing cultural differences (e.g., individualism vs. collectivism, or individualistic culture vs. collectivistic culture), subcultural difference (e.g., acculturation; Koreans living in Republic of Korea vs. Koreans living in Australia), travel lifestyle, and socio-demographics (e.g., age, gender, income level, education level, marital status, occupation etc.). However, there are few studies that identify individual psychological differences (i.e., individual psychological differences within the same culture) influencing the choice of overseas travel type. Self-construal is a psychological factors that greatly influences choice behavior. The purpose of this study was to examine the role of self-construal as an antecedent variable influencing choice of overseas travel product type. Research design, data and methodology: To achieve the purpose of this study, the questionnaire survey method was used. Self-construal items composed of independent self-construal items and interdependent self-construal items. Product types of overseas travel were free independent travel (FIT) type versus package travel type. In this study, the correlation coefficient between independent self-construal and interdependent self-construal was nonsignificant. It meant that the relationship between independent self-construal and interdependent self-construal was orthogonal. Therefore it was analyzed that independent self-construal and interdependent self-construal separately. Reliability analysis, factor analysis, and logistic regression analysis (controlling gender and age) was used as the data analysis method. Results: According to the results of this study, the stronger independent self-construal, the more preference for the free independent travel type rather than package travel, and the stronger interdependent self-construal, the more preference for the package travel type rather than free independent travel. Conclusions: Self-construal is an antecedent variable influencing the choice of travel type. Travel agencies must consider the consumer's self-construal (independent self-construal vs. interdependent self-construal) before planning and designing overseas travel products.

노선선택행태의 모형화 (Modeling of the Route Choice Behavior)

  • The multinomial logit model has been applied for various choice problems. Among others, the joint destination mode choice, the mode choice and the route choice are the three major modeling topics for korean transportation planners. This paper examines with real world data (the Olympic road and its competing two major arterials) the usefulness of a Logit route choice model. Quites surpisingly, it is found that the multinomial route choice behavioral model calibrated for this study based on (0,1) individula data base can not provide a good estimate for O-D trips less than 6㎞. 400data points and 3case studies might not be sufficient for a sound conclusion. It is, however, believed from a series of similar studies conducted by the authors that the route choice behavior is more sensitive (more demand elastic with respect to travel time changes) than the mode choice and the shorter trip, the more sensitive. The travel time parameters for destination choice models are usually smalle than the travel time parameters for mode choice models and these parameters (for mode choice models) turn our smaller than the travel time parameters for route choice models from this study. Table 2 in this paper shows parameter changes for three different markets and Table 3 shows the modeling errors when the estimated individual probabilities are aggregated into a route level.

통근통행자의 통행패턴 선택행태의 분석 (Analysis of Urban Workers' Travel Pattern Choice Behavior)

  • 본 연구에서는 1일(24시간) 단위로 표현되는 통근통행자의 통행패턴을 분석하기 위해 가정과 직장 및 기타 목적지를 선택하여 이루어지는 하루 동안의 통행패턴을 유형화하여 이들 선택대안의 선택행태를 분석하였다. 이러한 연구목적을 충족시키기 위하여 본 연구에서는 경산시와 영천시에 직장을 가진 직장인(통근통행 자)에 대하여 실시한 통행 설문조사자료를 이용하여 네스티드 로짓모형을 이용한 경험적 모형을 추정하고, 모형의 추정결과를 논의하였다. 본 연구에서는 통근통행자의 통행패턴이 단일목적 혹은 다목적 통행의 선택을 높은 단계, tour의 수를 낮은 단계의 선택으로 하는 네스티드 로짓모형에 의해 표현된다고 가정하였다. 이렇게 표현된 네스티드 로짓모형의 경험적 추정결과로부터 본 연구에서 가설화된 네스티드 로짓모형구조의 타당성을 확인할 수 있었다. 아울러 모형의 경험적 추정결과는 개인의 행태적 측면을 적절히 반영하는 것으로 확인되었다.

양.한방의료 서비스 선택에 관한 연구 (Choice of Health Care and Traditional Medicine)

  • This study is to investigate patient's choice of health care and the demand for Korean traditional medicine care in rural areas in 1995. It tried to evaluate the effect of out-of-pocket expenditure, travel time, and waiting time on improving care-seeking and substituting clinical medicine for pharmacy care and Korean traditional medicine care in rural areas. The statistical model of this study is conditional logit to estimate effects of choice-specific and individual-specific characteristics on the choice of type of services. This study used, as explanatory variables, average out-of-pocket payment, travel time, and waiting time of services required to use the services. The model was empirically tested using data from 1995 Korean National Health Survery. The results showed that rural Koreans responded to out-of pocket payment and travel time. Increases of out-of-pocket payment and travel time decreased the probability to choose care in rural Korea. Rural Koreans were more likely to seek care than others with low out-of-pocket payment and travel time. The probability of choosing Korean traditional medicine were higher among the members of the households with higher education level and older persons, while they were lower in the households with large family than others compared with the probabilities of choosing public health facilities. The result of this study implies that policy on use of health care in rural Korea can be focused in managing travel time and out-of-pocket payment.

  • Rail transport has grown over the Past decades, and rail networks have highly concentrated in urban area, and it is possible for rail passengers to choose a route anions a number of alternative routes. Analysis of factors influencing the choice of route, are required to estimate the rail travel demand of each route. In this paper, we describes route choice model for the transit assignment and characteristics of the route choice(i.e., by relative travel time and fares), and attempts to estimate travel demand of new rail transit based on the slated preference(SP) survey data of Nanko Porttown, which is located in Osaka, Japan.

  • Advanced Traveler Inoformation Systems*ATIS) , as a subsystem of ITS influence the travel choices of dreivers by providing them with historical, real-time and predictive information to supprot travel decisions and consequently improves the speed and quality of travel. For thesuccessul accomplishment of ATIS, the time-dependent variations of traffic in a road network and travel times of vehicles during their journey must be predicted . The purpose of this study is to evaluate the past developments in the dynamic route choice models and to apply the instantaneous dynamic user optimal route choice model. recently formulated with flow propagation constraints by Ran, Boyce and LeBlanc, to the real transportation network of Seocho-Ku in Seoul. As input data for this application, the time-dependent travel rates are estimated and the link travel time function is derived. The modelis validated from three view points : the efficiency of model itself the ability to predict traffic volume and travel time on links, and the optimal traffic control.

  • The goal of this article is to ascertain the factors that govern consumers' choosing to outbound travel product. The authors assess the consumers' travel product choosing processes with information search(internal knowledge, external information knowledge). alternative evaluation(perceived image, emotional experience, price acceptability, appeal, trust), and alternative choice(purchasing intention). Using data on Thailand travel product, the authors find considerable results and conclude by discussing prescriptive recommendations for the travel industry.

  • 이 논문은 통행선택행위를 간접효용함수 대신 체감비용을 비교하는 평가방법을 제시하였다. 체감비용 비교방법은 가계생산이론을 통행자가 통행비용과 시간 등 정량적 요소와 함께 안락성과 안전성 등 정량적 요소를 동시에 고려하는 경우에 적용하여 도출되었다. 이 분석에서는 통행행위가 통행목적 달성과 함께 여러 정성적 요소를 동시에 산출하는 과정을 기술하는 특수한 형태의 동차 공동생산함수를 고안하여 이용하였다. 통행대안별 체감비용은 금전적인 통행비용에 시간가치 중에서 정량적 요소에 대해 통행자가 느끼는 기회비용을 제한 값을 합하여 산출하였다. 이러한 체감비용은 통계적 측정가능조건을 충족시킬뿐더러 통행선택행위를 보다 합리적으로 설명할 수 있어, 통행선택에 대한 통계분석에서 간접효용함수에 비해 통계측정 대상으로서 보다 우수하다.

  • The network equilibrium theory is to estimate the travel choices on a transportation network when the resulting travel times and costs are one basis for the choices. Increasing use of this principle on travel assignment problem lead to develop the combined choice models including not only travel options such as mode and route, but location options like trip distribution problems. This paper, first, reviews earlier developments of variable demand network equilibrium models, combined modeles of trip distribution and assignment, and entropy constrained combined models. Then various model structures of combining travel choice models based on network equilibrium theory and entropy constraints are discussed.
