Reduce AC loss is very important in superconductor power machine. And HTS power application are needed an increment of current capacity. in this paper estimate AC loss effect and increase of current according tocomposition stack with 1G wire and 2G wire by measurement. A Method of composition stack are YBCO-BSCCO, YBCO-BSCCO-BSCCO-YBCO and BSCCO-YBCO-YBCO-BSCCO. also, test result compared analytic equation by Norries
Superconducting transmission power cable is one of interesting parts in power application using high temperature superconducting wire. One of important parameters in high-temperature superconduting (HTSC) cable design is transport current distribution because it is related with current transmission capacity and AC loss. In this paper, the transport current distribution at conducting layers was investigated through the analysis of the equivalent circuit for HTSC power cable with shield layer and compared with the case of without shield layer. The transport current distribution due to the pitch lenght was improved in the case of HTSC power cable with shield layer from the analysis.
AC loss is one of the main research area in AC power application using high temperature superconductor(HTS), such as HTS transformer, HTS current limiter and HTS cable, because it is closely related to efficiency, economic estimation and design of power device. A lot of research for various arrangements of HTS tapes have been performed to increase a capacity of transport current because single HTS tape can not satisfy the demanded current capacity in HTS power application. In this paper, we studied magnetization loss by different several arrangements of BSCCO tapes such as Edge-to-Edge type, Face-to-Face type and Matrix type through numerical analysis by 2D-FEM and measurement. As a result, we got the result that the magnetization loss of Face-to-Face type arrangements was lower than those of other arrangement types under the conditions of the same stacking number. We think that the result was due to shield effect by demagnetization of adjacent HTS tapes which are located face to face.
This paper deals with hysteresis losses on the superconducting slap by using type II superconducting theory and classical maxwell equations. Transport current is transmitted to the longitudual direction and applied magnetic field is perpendicular to the slap length and simultaneously parallel to the plat. And the sinusoidal transport currents and the magnetic fields are applied to the slap. Properties of hysteresis loss can be understood, using computer simulation with apply field, transport current and phasor difference. From this result the efficiency and the stability of superconducting system can be enhanced.
Enhanced performances of high temperature superconducting (HTS) cable attract tremendous interests of the power utility. However, the reliability issue as the power system is still in controversy. To verify the reliability of HTS cable, 22.9 kV HTS cable system with the specification of 100 m length, 50 MVA capacity, and open refrigeration cooling system was laid on Gochang power testing center of KEPCO in 2006. During the test period, the current transport characteristics, the fundamental function of power cable, have been monitored and investigated precisely. In this paper, the heat loss and AC loss measured at various current load conditions are described and discussed.
Usually, the AC loss from the superconducting element of an SFCL due to the load current is very small because it is composed of the combination of bifilar windings with very small reactance. Although the AC loss is small enough, we should be albe to predict for the design and control of the cryogenic system. In fact, an SFCL for the transmission voltage class may not generate ignorable AC loss because of the inevitable space between the HTS wires for the high voltage insulation and cryogenic efficiency. To measure the AC loss dependency on the space between the 2G HTS wires with the width of 4.4 mm, we prepared an experimental setup which could adjust the distance between the wires. We used two 500-mm length HTS wires in parallel and applied the current in the opposite direction for each wire to simulate a part of a current limiting module for a high voltage SFCL. We also put two couples of voltage taps at the ends of each wire and a cancel coil in the voltage measurement circuit to compensate the reactive component from the voltage taps. In this condition, we varied the distance between the wires to investigate the change of the transport current loss. A similar experimental study with HTS wire with the width of 12 mm is now in progress.

We analyzed the temperature dependency of the AC losses in high temperature superconducting (HTS) coils. In the case of a short sample of an HTS tape, the magnetization loss at 4.2 K could be higher than the one at 77 K for a same transport current. It happens when the perpendicular magnetic field is above a certain magnitude. The AC loss characteristics of solenoidal coils have been analyzed at the temperatures of 65 K and 77 K. They were categorized by the aspect ratios. The operating current of a solenoid was normally set about 70 % of the critical current. An HTS solenoid with the same operating current of 77 K causes larger AC losses at 65 K in the most cases of the HTS solenoids. We also analyzed the AC loss characteristics due to the temperature variations for three types of superconducting magnetic energy storages. Two of them were solenoidal types and the other was toroidal type. The results showed the tendency for the coils to have higher AC losses at lower temperature with the same operating currents and scenarios.
AC losses in multifilamentary HTS tapes can be classified to hysteresis loss, coupling loss, and eddy current loss from the viewpoint of their generation mechanism. From the viewpoint of the major magnetic field component generating them, they can be classified to magnetization loss, transport loss, and total loss. Dividing superconductor to fine filaments, twisting filaments bundle and increasing transverse resistivity are effectively reduce magnetization loss and total loss when the external magnetic field is relatively large. Recently, twisted multifilamentary Bi 2223 tapes with pure silver matrix were fabricated and the reduction of magnetization loss was proved experimentally in the parallel magnetic field to the tape wide face. However, when the perpendicular magnetic field is applied, increasing transverse resistivity is required essentially to reduce the AC losses. The transverse resistivity was increased successfully by the introduction of resistive barrier between filaments.
A model for DMFC anode performance is developed. The model takes into account potential--independent methanol adsorption on the catalyst surface, finite rate of proton transport through the anode catalyst layer (ACL), and a potential loss due to methanol transport in the anode backing layer. An approximate analytical half--cell polarization curve is derived and equations for the anode limiting current density are obtained. The polarization curve is fitted to the curves measured by Nordlund and Lindbergh and parameters resulted from the fitting are discussed.
Phase difference of external magnetic field and self field is known to do an important role in the generation of the AC loss. This paper analize the AC loss of AC superconducting wire in combined action of an AC transport current and AC magnetic field for various phase differences.
