Well-crystallized $BaSi_2O_5:Eu^{2+}$ phosphor films were synthesized by heat treatment of spin-coated BaO:Eu on $SiO_2$ glass. We investigated luminescence-structure properties of these phosphor films as a function of heat-treatment temperature. From x-ray diffraction patterns, our $BaSi_2O_5:Eu^{2+}$ phosphor films revealed that (111)- and (204)-crystal planes of $BaSi_2O_5$ crystal were dominantly increased with an increase of heat-treatment temperature. Photoluminescence intensities of $BaSi_2O_5:Eu^{2+}$ phosphor films were increased with amount of these crystal planes. It can be explained that $Eu^{2+}$ ions were stably occupied at specific crystal orientation of $BaSi_2O_5$ crystal, enhancing the luminescent intensities of $BaSi_2O_5:Eu^{2+}$ phosphor films. In addition, our $BaSi_2O_5:Eu^{2+}$ phosphor films had transmittance of 70% at 510 nm,.due to the dense morphology and specific crystallinity of $BaSi_2O_5:Eu^{2+}$ phosphor films.

Electromagnetic wave transmission through periodic metal-insulator-metal(MIM) waveguides as a function of plate thickness has not been extensively studied at various terahertz frequencies. In this paper, we investigate the transmittances through gold MIM slits when a normally incident wave with parallel polarization is considered at several terahertz frequencies. In addition, the results are compared to the case of a perfect electric conductor, and the differences are discussed.

We report on the fabrication of soluble pentacene-based thin-film transistors (TFTs) that consist of $NiO_x$, poly-vinyl phenol (PVP), and Ni for the source-drain (SID) electrodes, gate dielectric, and gate electrode, respectively. The $NiO_x$ SID electrodes of which the work function is well matched to that of soluble pentacene are deposited on a soluble pentacenechannel by sputter deposited of NiO powder and show a moderately low but still effective transmittance of ~65% in the visible range along with a good sheet resistance of ${\sim}40{\Omega}/{\square}$. The maximum saturation current of our soluble pentacene-based TFT is about $15{\mu}A$ at a gate bias of -40showing a high field effect mobility of $0.06cm^2/Vs$ in the dark, and the on/off current ratio of our TFT is about $10^4$. It is concluded that jointly adopting $NiO_x$ for the S/D electrodes and PVP for gate dielectric realizes a high-quality soluble pentacene-based TFT.

$TiO_2$(2 wt.%)-doped ZnO(TZO) films with thickness from 100 nm to 500 nm were prepared on polyethylene naphthalate(PEN) substrate under various rf-power range from 40 W to 80 W. Their electrical and optical properties were investigated as a function of rf-power. We think that these properties were closely related with the crystallization and the film density of TZO films. It was also presumed that the vaporization of the water vapor and other adsorbed particles such as an organic solvents can affect the electrical properties of the conventional transparent conductive oxide(TCO) films. On the other hand, since the TZO film deposited on glass substrate at room temperature with rf-power of 80 W shows a very low resistivity of $7.5\times10^{-4}\;\Omega{\cdot}cm$ and a very excellent transmittance over an average 85% in the visible range, that is comparable to that of ITO films. Therefore, we expect that the TZO films can be used as transparent electrode for optoelectronic devices such as touch-panels, flat-panel displays, and thin-film solar cells.
The ${\gamma}-Fe_2O_3$ nano particles in the size range of $5{\sim}30$ nm were prepared by a chemical coprecipitation method. The nano particles were coated with 2nd surfactants for obtaining the water-based. The size effect of ${\gamma}-Fe_2O_3$ nano particles for the ultraviolet protection was investigated. The variation of the UV-Vis transmittance spectra as a function of wavelength for a ${\gamma}-Fe_2O_3$ nano particles were showed red-shifted increase with the particle size. The protective effects of UVA onset at near 469, 494, 591 nm for a particle size of 8.7, 9.1 and 12 nm. It is shown that the ${\gamma}-Fe_2O_3$ nano particles was good materials for protect of UV.
The optical and electronic properties of Indium Tin Oxide (ITO) thin films deposited on a RF-plasma treated glass substrate were investigated by X-Ray Photoelectron Spectroscopy (XPS), Ultra-violet Photoelectron Spectroscopy (UPS), Reflected Electron Energy Loss Spectroscopy (REELS). The modification of glass substrates was carried out by varying the time of the plasma surface treatment in an oxygen atmosphere. The focus of this research was to examine how the optical and electronic properties of ITO thin films change with the plasma treatment time. The surface energy increased since the carbon bonds were removed from the surface after the glass substrate received the surface treatment. The ITO thin films produced on the glass substrate with surface treatment showed that the high optical transmittance was approximately 85%. The measured band gap energy was as high as 3.23 eV when the plasma treatment time was 60 s and the work function after the treatment was increased by 0.5 eV in comparison to that before the treatment of 60 s. The ITO thin film exhibited an excellent sheet resistance of $2.79{\Omega}/{\Box}$. We found that the optical and electronic properties of ITO thin films can be improved by RF-plasma surface treatment.

In this study, we prepared OLED cell with ITO (Indium Tin Oxide) films grown on the glass substrate by facing targets sputtering. Before fabrication of OLED cells, we investigated properties of ITO films deposited at various sputtering conditions. To investigate properties of as-prepared films, we employed four-point probe, UV-VIS spectrometer, X-ray diffractometer (XRD), field emission scanning electron microscopy (FE-SEM), hall-effect measurement. As a results, as-prepared ITO films have high transmittance of over 85 % in the visible range (300-800 nm) and a resistivity of under $10^{-4}$ (${\Omega}-cm$). Their resistivity increased as a function of oxygen gas flow and substrate temperature. OLED cell with ITO films were fabricated by thermal evpoeartor. Properties of OLEDs cell referring to properties of ITO films.

Functional transparent electrode was achieved by metal oxide-metal-Metal oxide (OMO) structure. Tailoring of metal oxide and metal layers, optically transparent and electrically excellent OMO films were investigated. Silver (Ag) is adopted for the metal layer and Ag oxide (AgO) is reactively formed by flowing O2 gas during the sputtering process. This spontaneous AgO formation from Ag simultaneously provides the good electrical interface with high transparency. Due to the feature of transparent electrode of OMO, it endows the shielding effect (SE) function of electromagnetic interference. Optically transparent and electrically conductive OMO electrode shows the high transmittance (83.7%) and low sheet resistance (6.5 Ω/☐) with SE of 29.54 dB.

The optical properties of the materials composing organic light-emitting diodes (OLEDs) are considered when designing the optical structure of OLEDs. Optical design is related to the optical properties, such as the efficiency, emission spectra, and color coordinates of OLED devices because of the microcavity effect in top-emitting OLEDs. In this study, the properties of top-emitting blue OLEDs were optimized by adjusting the thicknesses of the thin metal layer and capping layer (CPL). Deep blue emission was achieved in an OLED structure with a second cavity length, even when the transmittance of the thin metal layer was high. The thin metal film thickness ranges applicable to OLEDs with a second microcavity structure are wide. Instead, the thickness of the thin metal layer determines the optimized thickness of the CPL for high efficiency. A thinner metal layer means that higher efficiency can be obtained in OLED devices with a second microcavity structure. In addition, OLEDs with a thinner metal layer showed less color change as a function of the viewing angle.
AR (alkali resistant)-glass fibers were developed to provide better alkali resistance, but there is currently no research on AR-glass fiber manufacturing. In this study, we fabricated glass fiber from AR-glass using a continuous spinning process with 40 wt% refused coal ore. To confirm the melting properties of the marble glass, raw material was put into a (platinum) Pt crucible and melted at temperatures up to 1,650 ℃ for 2 h and then annealed. To confirm the transparent clear marble glass, visible transmittance was measured and the fiber spinning condition was investigated by high temperature viscosity measurement. A change in diameter was observed according to winding speed in the range of 100 to 700 rpm. We also checked the change in diameter as a function of fiberizing temperature in the range of 1,240 to 1,340 ℃. As winding speed increased at constant temperature, fiber diameter tended to decrease. However, at fiberizing temperature at constant winding speed, fiber diameter tended to increase. The properties of the prepared spinning fibers were confirmed by optical microscope, tensile strength, modulus and alkali-resistance tests.
