  • This paper describes propagation characteristics obtained by considering semiconducting screen and cross-bonding in underground transmission cables. The semiconducting screen of power cable has effect on propagation characteristics including attenuation, velocity and surge impedance. However, it is very difficult to apply the semiconduction screen for EMTP model because of the number of conductors limitation. Therefore, CIGRE WG 21-05 proposed advanced insulation structure and analysis technique of simplified approach including inner and outer semiconducting screen. In this paper, the various propagation characteristics analyse using this structure and technique for 154kV XLPE $2000mm^2$ cable. The frequency independent model of EMTP CABLE PARAMETER is used for just pattern analysis of propagation characteristics. For exact data analysis, the frequency dependent model of J-marti is used for EMTP modeling. From these result, various propagation characteristics of 154kV XLPE $2000mm^2$ cable according to semi conducting screen consideration, frequency range, cable length and pulse width are analysed. In addition, in this paper, the effects of cross-bonding are also variously discussed according to cross-bonding methods, direct connection and impedance of lead cable.

  • Although ground investigation had carried out prior to the construction, many problems have arisen during the civil-engineering works because of the presence of the unexpected underground utility lines or anomalies. In this study, a new geophysical exploration method was developed to solve those problems by improving and supplementing the existing methods. This new method was based on the difference of electrical resistance values between anomalies and surrounding ground medium. A theoretical expression was suggested to define the characteristics of the anomalies such as location, size and direction, by applying the electric field analysis. An inverse analysis algorithm was also developed to solve the theoretical expression using the measured electrical resistance values which were generated by the voltage flowing the subsurface medium. To verify the developed method, field applications were conducted at the sites under construction or planned. From the results of the field tests, it was found that not only the new method was more predictive than the existing methods, but its results were good agreed with the measured ones. Therefore, it is expected that application of the new exploration method reduces the unexpected accidents caused by the underground uncertainties during the underground construction works.

  • The possibility of new viruses emerging in various regions worldwide has increased due to a combination of factors, including climate change and the expansion of international trading. Plant viruses spread through various transmission routes, encompassing well-known avenues such as pollen, seeds, and insects. However, research on potential transmission routes beyond these known mechanisms has remained limited. To address this gap, this study employed metatranscriptomic analysis to ascertain the presence of plant viruses in imported frozen fruits, specifically cherries and blueberries. This analysis aimed to identify pathways through which plant viruses may be introduced into countries. Virome analysis revealed the presence of six species of plant viruses in frozen cherries and blueberries: cherry virus A (CVA), prunus necrotic ringspot virus (PNRSV), prune dwarf virus (PDV), prunus virus F (PrVF), blueberry shock virus (BlShV), and blueberry latent virus (BlLV). Identifying these potential transmission routes is crucial for effectively managing and preventing the spread of plant viruses and crop protection. This study highlights the importance of robust quality control measures and monitoring systems for frozen fruits, emphasizing the need for proactive measures to mitigate the risk associated with the potential spread of plant viruses.

  • A transmission tower was designed using the structural methodology to assume a simple truss behavior. However, there is a big difference between a simple truss behavior and a real one. A suitable explanation of structural stability is that it is a semi-rigid connection and not the assumed hinged connection. This study proposes an alternative structural-analysis modeling strategy for the transmission tower design. The element models that were considered were the truss element model, the beam element model, and the combined beam-truss element model. This study includes linear static analysis, free-vibration analysis, and elastic buckling analysis with respect to the design load. The results of the analysis indicate that the axial forces, axial stresses, and maximum displacements of the three analytical models are very similar. However, the bending moments and stresses of the beam element model and of the combined beam-truss element model are significantly high. The results of the free-vibration and elastic buckling analyses show that the beam-truss model can be conservatively used for the transmission tower design.

  • A finite-element method is used to analyze loss generation and electromagnetic noise absorption characteristics of a coplanar waveguide transmission line integrated with a magnetic thin film. Parameters used in the analysis are the electrical resistivity of the magnetic layer and the thickness of both magnetic and insulating layers. The results indicate that L-C resonance is the main loss mechanism of the electromagnetic noise absorption.

  • Dark field (DF) transmission electron microscopy image has become a popular characterization method for two-dimensional material, graphene, since it can visualize grain structure and multilayer islands, and further provide structural information such as crystal orientation relations, defects, etc. unlike other imaging tools. Here we present microstructure of graphene, particularly, using DF imaging. High-angle grain boundary formation wass observed in heat-treated chemical vapor deposition-grown graphene on the Si substrate using patch-quilted DF imaging processing, which is supposed to occur by strain around multilayer islands. Upon the crystal orientation between layers the multilayer islands were categorized into the oriented one and the twisted one, and their local structure were compared. In addition information from each diffraction spot in selected area diffraction pattern was summarized.

  • A simple and novel transmission electron microscopy (TEM) sample preparation method for phase change nanowire is investigated. A $Ge_2Sb_2Te_5$ (GST) nanowire TEM sample was meticulously prepared using nanomanipulator and gas injection system in a field emission scanning electron microscopy for efficient and accurate TEM analysis. The process can minimize the damage during the TEM sample preparation of the nanowires, thus enabling the crystallographic analysis of as-grown GST nanowires without unexpected phase transition caused by e-beam heating.

  • Due to the benefit of QRA(Quantitative Risk Analysis) method, we can evaluate the risk, and it helps us to make our safe. We also depend to some of correlation equations to assess the jet fire at high pressurized transmission line. However, we can evaluate the risk within limitations. After comparing the current model to investigation report of natural gas transmission line accident at EL-Paso in U.S., this study concludes that more research and study are required because currently developed model cannot expect factors of the fire risk such as flame configuration.

  • This paper presents the analysis of the amplitude distortion occurring in the transmission of super wideband AM signal when the amplitude and phase variations of the upper and lower sidebands of the AM signal are symmetrical, and odd symmetrical with respect to the carrier. It is shown that the case where the amplitude variations of the upper and lower sidebands of AM signal are symmetrical with respect to the carrier while the phase variations of the upper and lower sidebands are odd symmetrical with respect to the carrier induce, no amplitude distortion in AM signal transmission.

  • Relatively slow tuning speed of optical device causes the unwanted delay in high speed single-hop multiwavelength networks. To lessen the overhead, we present a channel access protocol with dynamjic message scheduling. Th eframe structure of proposed protocol adopts hybrid multiaccess scheme in which WDMA is used as a basic multiaccess technique and TDMA is used to provide subchannels within a wavelength band. This architecture has two merits : the network extention is not limited by available number of wavelengths, and the transmission delay caused by optical device tuning time can to minimize the number of tunings. It schedules messages that require same wavelength channels sequencely, so the total transmission delay is reduced by decreasement of wavelength changes. The performance of proposed protocol is evaluated through numerical analysis based on probability and queueing theory. The peformance of proposed protocol is evaluated through numerical analysis based on probability and queueing theory. The numeric results show that the peformance of proposed protocol is better than that of previous one.
