In this paper, we propose methods for improving the performance of word recognition system. The ray stratey of the first method is to apply the inertia to the feature vector sequences of speech signal to stabilize the transitions between VQ cdoes. The second method is generating the new observation probabilities using the transition matrix of VQ codes as weights at the observation probability of the output symbol, so as to take into account the time relation between neighboring frames in DHMM. By applying the inertia to the feature vector sequences, we can reduce the overlapping of probability distribution of the response paths for each word and stabilize state transitions in the HMM. By using the transition matrix of VQ codes as weights in conventional DHMM. we can divide the probability distribution of feature vectors more and more, and restrict the feature distribution to a suitable region so that the performance of recognition system can improve. To evaluate the performance of the proposed methods, we carried out experiments for 50 DDD area names. As a result, the proposed methods improved the recognition rate by $4.2\%$ in the speaker-dependent test and $12.45\%$ in the speaker-independent test, respectively, compared with the conventional DHMM.

In this paper, we describe a system that can interact with agents in the virtual space incorporated in the system. This system is constructed by an analysis system for analyzing human gesture and an interact system for interacting with agents in the virtual space using analyzed information. An implemented analysis system for analyzing gesture extracts a head and hands region after taking image sequence of an operator's continuous behavior using CCD cameras. In interact system, we construct the virtual space that exist an avatar which incarnating operator himself, an autonomous object (like a Puppy), and non-autonomous objects which are table, door, window and object. Recognized gesture is transmitted to the avatar in the virtual space, then transit to next state based on state transition diagram. State transition diagram is represented in a graph in which each state represented as node and connect with link. In the virtual space, the agent link an avatar can open and close a window and a door, grab or move an object like a ball, order a puppy to do and respond to the Puppy's behavior as does the puppy.
The starting materials were aluminum hydroxide prepared by precipitation method at the conditions of pH values; 7, 9, 10 and 11. The properties of alumina powder on heat-treatment were studied. After dehydrating structural water from amorphous aluminum hydroxide, the first formed phase was amorphous alumina and its specific surface are was decreased. The specific surface area was increased by dehydration of structural water from aluminum hydroxides except amorphous aluminum hydroxide. The specific surface area was increased with increase of the ratio of A1OOH to $A1(OH)_3$ in the region of transition aluminas. The rate of transition from aluminum hydroxide to alpha alumina occurred in the order of 7, 10, 9 and 11 of pH values. The morphology of alpha alumina powders was skeleton particles remaining outer shape of aluminum hydroxide. Both the elevation of heat-treatment temperature and the transition toalpha alumina decreased specific surface area and brought about the growth of particles.
We investigated the effects of Ba and Cu co-substitution on the structural and superconducting properties of ($Ru_{1-y}Cu_y$)($Sr_{1.67-x}Ba_xEu_{0.33}$)($Eu_{1.34}Ce_{0.66}$)$Cu_2O_z$ samples. X-ray diffraction(XRD) reveals that single-phase samples can be obtained in the range from x = 0.1 to 0.2 for ($Ru_{0.5}Cu_{0.5}$)($Sr_{1.67-x}Ba_xEu_{0.33}$)($Eu_{1.34}Ce_{0.66}$)$Cu_2O_z$ and from y = 0.25 to 0.5 for ($Ru_{1-y}Cu_y$)($Sr_{1.47}Ba_{0.2}Eu_{0.33}$)($Eu_{1.34}Ce_{0.66}$)$Cu_2O_z$, respectively. All samples with compositions of ($Ru_{0.5}Cu_{0.5}$)($Sr_{1.67-x}Ba_xEu_{0.33}$) ($Eu_{1.34}Ce_{0.66}$)$Cu_2O_z$ (x = 0 - 0.33) show superconducting transition behavior and the onset transition temperature decreases slightly with increasing x in consistent with the change of hole concentration estimated from room temperature thermoelectric power measurements. The XRD and resistivity measurements for the ($Ru_{1-y}Cu_y$)($Sr_{1.47}Ba_{0.2}Eu_{0.33}$)($Eu_{1.34}Ce_{0.66}$) $Cu_2O_z$ system indicate that the partial substitution of Cu for Ru is necessary to form phase pure samples, but result in a small change in transition temperature in the single-phase region from x = 0.25 to 0.5.

The potassium lithium niobate $K_3$$Li_2$$Nb_5$$O_{15}$ single crystals were growing in $K_x$$Li_{1-x}$$NbO_3$ (x = 0.4~0.6) chemical formular by the Czorchralski method. Crystal growth is studied in two orientations with growth along a-axis and c-axis. We have subjected this crystal to x-ray diffraction studies and found that they are single-crystalline and belong to tetragonal system with the lattice parameters a = b = 12.577 $\AA$ and c = 3.997$\AA$. The temperature dependence of dielectric constant was measured in the region of the phase transition. Curie temperature and diffuseness of phase transition are influenced by composition concentration. The composition and cation distribution of ferroelectric TB-type niobate crystals has a strong influence on the ferroelectric properties. Growth condition, optical transmittance, etching pattern and dielectric properties are presented and discussed.

The alloys which compositions were represented by the formula, $Ti_{(0.22+X)}Cr_{(0.28+1.5X)}V_{(0.5-2.5X)}$ ($0{\leq}X{\leq}0.12$), had the total hydrogen storage capacity higher than 3 wt% and the effective hydrogen storage capacity higher than 1.4 wt%. Particularly, among all the tested alloys, the $Ti_{0.32}Cr_{0.43}V_{0.25}$ alloy exhibited the best effective hydrogen storage capacity of 1.65 wt%. Furthermore, the reversible bcc${\leftrightarrow}$fcc structural transition was observed with hydrogenation and dehydrogenation, which predicted the possibility of pressure cycling. EDS analysis revealed micro-segregation, which suggested the necessity of microstructure homogenization by heat treatment. The $Ti_{0.32}Cr_{0.43}V_{0.25}$ alloy was selected for heat treatment and for other related studies. The results showed that the total and the effective hydrogen storage capacity increased to 3.7 wt% and 2.3 wt%, respectively. The flatness of the plateau region was also greatly improved and heat of hydride formation was determined to be approximately -36 kJ/mol $H_2$.

A silica-magnesium bisupport (SMB) was prepared by a sol-gel method for use as a support for a metal-locene/Ziegler-Natta hybrid catalyst. The prepared $rac-Et(Ind)_2ZrCl_2/TiCl_4$/MAO(methylaluminoxane)/SMB catalyst was applied to the copolymerization of ethylene with l-hexene using a variable triethylaluminum (TEA)/transition-metal (Ti) ratio and fixed MAO/transition-metal (Zr) ratio. The effect of the Al(TEA)/Ti ratio on the physical properties and chemical composition distributions (CCDs) of the ethylene-hexene copolymers produced by the hybrid catalyst was investigated. In the ethylene-hexene copolymers, two melting temperatures attributed to the metal-locene and Ziegler-Natta catalysts were clearly observed. The number of CCD peaks was increased from six to seven and the temperature region in which the peaks for the short chain branches of the ethylene-hexene copolymer were distributed became lower as the Al(TEA)/Ti ratio was increased from 300 to 400. Furthermore, the temperature regions corresponding to the lamellas in the copolymer became lower and those corresponding to the small lamellas in the copolymer became higher as the Al(TEA)/Ti ratio was increased from 300 to 400. In the copolymer produced with Al(TEA)/Ti = 500, however, only four CCD peaks were observed and the short chain branches were poorly distributed.

The generation mechanism of NAR is not yet understood. In the present study, an in-depth analysis of the computational results previously obtained by the authors is conducted to investigate the flow mechanism responsible for NAR. A theoretical analysis has also been performed to understand the gas dynamic features during transition from scramjet to ramjet mode. It is known that there exists a critical value of the fuel equivalence ratio at which the flow states at the inlet of isolator remain unchanged. An increase in the equivalence ratio over the critical value leads to a sudden change in the static pressure and the Mach number at the inlet of the isolator, which is responsible for the generation of NAR.

This study is concerned with the effects of Mo, Cr, and V addition on tensile and Charpy impact properties of API X80 linepipe steels. Four kinds of steels were processed by varying Mo, Cr, and V additions, and their microstructures and tensile and Charpy impact properties were investigated. Since the addition of Mo and V promoted to form fine acicular ferrite and granular bainite, while prohibiting the coarsening of granular bainite, it increased the strength and upper shelf energy, and decreased the energy transition temperature. The Cr addition promoted the formation of coarse granular bainite and secondary phases such as martensite-austenite constituents, thereby leading to the increased effective grain size, energy transition temperature, and strength and to the decreased upper shelf energy. The steel containing 0.3wt.% Mo and 0.06wt.% V without Cr had the highest upper shelf energy and the lowest energy transition temperature because its microstructure was composed of fine acicular ferrite and granular bainite, together with a small amount of hard secondary phases, while its tensile properties maintained excellent.

We have studied the surface micelle formation of polystyrene-b-poly(2-vinyl pyridine) (PS-b-P2VP) at the air-water interface. A series of four PS-b-P2VPs were synthesized by anionic polymerization, keeping the PS block length constant (28 kg/㏖) and varying the P2VP block length (1, 11, 28, or 59 kg/㏖). The surface pressure-area ($\pi$-A) isotherms were measured and the surface morphology was studied by atomic force microscopy (AFM) after Langmuir-Blodgett film deposition onto silicon wafers. At low surface pressure, the hydrophobic PS blocks aggregate to form pancake-like micelle cores and the hydrophilic P2VP block chains spread on the water surface to form a corona-like monolayer. The surface area occupied by a block copolymer is proportional to the molecular weight of the P2VP block and identical to the surface area occupied by a homo-P2VP. It indicates that the entire surface is covered by the P2VP monolayer and the PS micelle cores lie on the P2VP monolayer. As the surface pressure is increased, the $\pi$-A isotherm shows a transition region where the surface pressure does not change much with the film compression. In this transition region, which displays high compressibility, the P2VP blocks restructure from the monolayer and spread at the air-water interface. After the transition, the Langmuir film becomes much less compressible. In this high-surface-pressure regime, the PS cores cover practically the entire surface area, as observed by AFM and the limiting area of the film. All the diblock copolymers formed circular micelles, except for the block copolymer having a very short P2VP block (1 kg/㏖), which formed large, non-uniform PS aggregates. By mixing with the block copolymer having a longer P2VP block (11 kg/㏖), we observed rod-shaped micelles, which indicates that the morphology of the surfaces micelles can be controlled by adjusting the average composition of block copolymers.
