The Synthesis of E, E, E-12-fluorofarnesol and E, Z-6-fluorofarnesol which are key intermediates for the study of biosynthesis of some sesquiterpenes, is described. E, E-Farnesyl acetate is treated with selenium dioxide to give E, E, E-12-hydroxy farnesyl acetate, whih is transformed by DAST into E, E, E-12-hydroxy farnesyl acetate, which is transformed by DAST into E, E, E,-12-fluorofarnesylacetate. The latter compound is hydrolyzed to E, E, E,-12-fluorofarnesol. The reformatsky reaction of 6-methyl-5-hepten-2-one with ethyl bromofluoroacetate affords ethyl 2-fluoro-3-hydroxy-3, 7 dimethyl-6-octanoate. This ester is acetylated and eliminated to give ethyl (Z)-2-fluoro-3, 7-dimethylocta-2, 6-dienoate, which is transformed to allyl bromide via allylic alcohol. The allyl bromide is treated with dianion of methyl acetate to give-keto ester. The $\beta$-keto ester is converted to diethyl phosphoryloxy compound. The conjugate addition of lithium dimethylcuprate to the latter compound gives fluoro ester, which is treated with DIBAL to afford E, Z-6-fluorofarnesol.

This paper presents a wear diagnosis method for centrifugal impellers by using an accelerometer. The features are calculated from raw and wavelet transformed signals with several statistical methods applied in time or frequency domains. From the effectiveness coefficient test, it is shown that 7th level of wavelet transformed signal is suitable for wear classification problems. A neural network with 5 feature sets is applied to diagnose the wear magnitude of pump impellers. The verification result reveals that high accuracy for the wear diagnosis of impellers can be obtained by using wavelet features transformed from acceleration signals.

In this paper, an alternative variable structure controller is designed for the point-to-point regulation control of uncertain general linear plants so that the output of plants can be controlled from an arbitrarily given initial point to an arbitrarily given reference point in the state space. By using the error between the steady state value of the output and an arbitrarily given reference point and those integral, a transformed integral sliding surface is defined, in advance, as the surface from an initial state to an arbitrarily given reference point without the reaching phase problems. A corresponding control input is suggested to satisfy the existence condition of the sliding mode on the preselected transformed integral sliding surface against matched uncertainties and disturbances. Therefore, the output controlled by the proposed controller is completely robust and identical to that of the preselected transformed integral sliding surface. Through an example, the effectiveness of the suggested controller is verified.

Transformed roots of Schisandra chinensis were obtained following co-cultivation of in vitro cultivated plantlet segments with Agrobaterium rhizogens ATCC15834. This root was examined for its growth and gomisin J contents under various culture conditions. Among the six basal culture media tested, WPM (Lloyd & McCown, 1980) medium supplemented with 5% sucrose was the best roots growth 6.2 (g D.W/flask) and gomisin J accumulation 1.56 $(X10^{-3}\;ug/g\;D.W)$. Initial inoculum size correlated with the yield of biomass while gomisin J contents was not affect. Gomisin J production was influenced by the initial sucrose concentration and the highest production yield was achieved at the concentration of 7%. The optimal shaking speeds for roots growth and gomisin J production was 120 and 140 rpm, respectively.

When saponin extracts of dried ginseng and red ginseng were anaerobically incubated with human intestinal microflora, these extracts were metabolized to compound K and ginsenoside $Rh_2$, respectively. However, when these extracts were incubated with commercial lactic acid bacteria, these did not metabolize these ginsenosides to compound K or ginsenoside $Rh_2$. Among some intestinal bacteria isolated from human feces, Bacteroides C-35 and C-36 transformed these saponin extracts to compound K and ginsenoside $Rh_2$, respectively. These bacteria also transformed water extracts of dried ginseng and red ginseng to compound K and ginsenoside $Rh_2$, respectively, similarly with that of the saponin extracts. Among transformed ginsenosides, compound K and 20(S)-ginsenoside $Rh_2$ exhibited the most potent cyotoxicity against tumor cells.

The suspension cells of Taxus cuspidata were transformed with Agrobacterium tumefaciens harboring binary vector pCAMBIE1302 encoding mgfp. Transient transfection efficiency was compared by using the fluoremetric measurement. The transient transfection efficiency was improved by transformation with DMSO and/or sonication treatment. Optimum conditions for DMSO and sonication treatment were 3% and 30sec, respectively. selection and maintenance of transformed cells were continued for 3 months. An insertion of the mgfp gene in transformed cells was detected by PCR and an expression of GFP confirmed by the western blot analysis.

Three fuzzy input space partitoining methods, which are grid, tree, and scatter method, are mainly used until now. These partition methods represent good performance in the modeling of the linear system and nonlinear system with independent modeling variables. But in the case of the nonlinear system with the coupled modeling variables, there should be many fuzzy rules for acquiring the exact fuzzy model. In this paper, it shows that the fuzzy model is acquired using transformed modeling vector by linear transformation of the modeling vector.

The relationship between Sigumjang gas chromatographic patterns precisely analyzed with capillary column and ranked order in sensory analysis was investigated by stepwise multiple regression analysis. Highly predictable multiple regression models were obtained in the analysis. Ninety percent of the Sigumjang aroma was explained by the regression models at step 15 in four transformation except for absolute value transformed with root square and relative value transformed with logarithm. The aroma of Sigumjang was most affected by 2,3-dimethylpyrazine at absolute value and absolute value transformed with logarithm and by 2-furancarboxaldehyde in other transformation. The quality of sigumjang was highly affected by ${\beta}$-phallendrenal, methylpyrazine, tetramethylpyrazine, 5-methyl-2-furancarboxaldehyde, unknown 2, octanoic acid, 4-ethylphenol, methyl 10,13-octadecanoate and ethyl linoleate.

Drainage noise with making think about what they do disturbs neighborhoods live under source of noise. elbow pipe built in the house. the general elbow pipe has a rectangular elbow because of easiness when the plan set up or executing. therefore, free falling fluid impacts on the wall of the elbow pipe almost at one point. in this paper, to disperse the potential energy, the shock decentralizes from tiny area to large area. And It is considered how the characteristics change according to the noise of transformed shape of pipe, then researched the effectiveness of transformed pipe configuration.

It has been known that elevated levels of COX-2 is associated with resistance to apoptosis in cancerous or transformed cells. However, recent studies have shown that up-regulation of COX-2 may be implicated in induction of apoptosis. Previous studies from this laboratory have shown that a novel alkylphospholipid type antitumor agent ET-18-O-$CH_3$ (l-O-octadecyl-2-0-methyl-glycero-3-phosphocholine) induces COX-2 expression in H-ras transformed human breast epithelial cells (MCF10A-ras) while it causes apoptosis in the same concentration range.(omitted)
