  • Oral lichen planus (OLP) is a chronic inflammatory disease observed in approximately 0.5-2.2% of the population, and it is recognized as a premalignant lesion that can progress into oral squamous cell carcinoma (OSCC). The rate of malignant transformation is approximately 1.09-2.3%, and the risk factors for malignant transformation are age, female, erosive type, and tongue site location. Malignant transformation of OLP is likely related to the low frequency of apoptotic phenomena. Therefore, apoptosis-related genetic factors, like p53, BCL-2, and BAX are reviewed. Increased p53 expression and altered expression of BCL-2 and BAX were observed in OLP patients, and the malignant transformation rate in these patients was relatively higher. The involvement of microRNA (miRNA) in the malignant transformation of OLP is also reviewed. Because autophagy is involved in cell survival and death through the regulation of various cellular processes, autophagy-related genetic factors may function as factors for malignant transformation. In OLP, decreased levels of ATG9B mRNA and a higher expression of IGF1 were observed, suggesting a reduction in cell death and autophagic response. Activated IGF1-PI3K/AKT/mTor cascade may play an important role in a signaling pathway related to the malignant transformation of OLP to OSCC. Recent research has shown that miRNAs, such as miR-199 and miR-122, activate the cascade, increasing the prosurvival and proproliferative signals.

  • In these days, XML is a de facto standard language for representing and exchanging data. In order to define the conceptual model of the XML, we need to define the representation rules expressed in the diagram and propose the transformation algorithm that converts the diagram into a logical model of XML. This paper proposes a transformation methodology for generating a logical model from the conceptual model of the XML. We use CMXML as a conceptual model and generate XML schema definition as a logical model. For this, we define transformation rules and data structures for XML schema, and propose a transformation algorithm.

  • For time series analysis, power transformation (especially log-transformation) is widely used for variance stabilization or normalization for stationary ARMA(p, q) model. A simple and naive back transformed forecast is obtained by taking the inverse function of expectation. However, this back transformed forecast has a bias. Under the assumption that the log-transformed data is normally distributed. The unbiased back transformed forecast can be obtained by the expectation of log-normal distribution; consequently, the property of this back transformation was studied by Granger and Newbold (1976). We investigate the sensitivity of back transformed forecasts under several different underlying distributions using simulation studies.

  • The microstructural evolution of BaTiO3 ceramics during cubic-hexagonal phase transformation was investiga-ted. In the case of phase transformation from cubic to hexagonal BaTiO3 the hexagonal phase nucleated at the surface region of specimen. On the other hand in the case of that from hexgonal phase to cubic, cubic phase was initiated at the center region of specimen. And fast grain growth and irregular grain boundary shape could be also observed during these transformation processes. Besides low densified hexagonal BaTiO3 specimen was made with low forming pressure. The phase transformation of these specimens toward cubic phase was relatively retarded comparing with dense hexagonal BaTiO3 specimens. was made low forming pressure.. The phase transformation of these specimens toward cubic phase was relatively retarded comparing with dense hexagonal BaTiO3 specimens. These results were explained that hexagonal BaTiO3 had lowder surface energy than cubic phase.

  • Alpha-SiAlON ceramics having various compositions and modifying cations were investigated with respect to their phase stability, transformation kinetics. and resulting microstructures. Each composition was heat treated at 150$0^{\circ}C$ for 1h and measured the $\alpha$-SiAlON transformation. The phase-boundary composition in the single-phase $\alpha$-SiAlON region showed sluggish transformation from $\alpha$-$Si_3N_4$ to $\alpha$-SiAlON compared to the phase-center composition in the diagram. Using the different rare earth modifying cations, dependence of transformation kinetics on the phase stability in a fixed composition was also explained. By changing size of the stable u-phase region with exchanging cations, systematic change in transformation was observed. Transformation rate of $\alpha$-SiAlON at low temperature has an important role on controlling the final microstructure. Less transformation gives more chances to develop elongated grain in the microstructure.

  • This study investigated the effects of aging on the transformation behavior of $Ti-50.1at\%$ Ni alloy by means of differential scanning calorimetry. It was found that aging in the temperature range of $350^{\circ}C\~550^{\circ}C$ induced complex transformation behavior, involving the R-phase and multiple-stage martensitic transformation. Usually aged Ni-rich NiTi alloys undergo martensitic transformation on cooling from high temperatures in two step : B2 to R and then R to Bl9'(normal behavior). But under certain ageing conditions, the transformation can also occur in three or more step(unusual multiple step behavior). In the present study we use differential seaming calorimetry(DSC) for a systematic investigation of the evolution of transformation behavior with ageing temperature and time.

  • The process of electromembrane transformation of L-lysine monohydrochlorides into their zwitterionic form in four- and two-chamber electrodialysis apparatus was investigated. The process of transformation at various concentrations of lysine monohydrochloride (0.1-0.6 mol.L-1) was studied and it was established that at the optimum density of current optimal concentrations of lysine hydrochloride during electrodyalisis was in the range of 0.2-0.4 mol.L-1. It was determined that the process of total transformation was accomplished when pH of the lysine solution achieved 10. Changes of concentrations of $Cl^-$ ions and lysine diffused into the neighboring chamber were determined depending on the time. The method developed by us allows adjusting the removal coefficient of $Cl^-$ ions during transformation to a maximal value, the losses of lysine diffused into the next chamber after its return to the technological cycle being less than 1.0 %. The specific energy consumption during the process of transformation in two- and four-chamber electrodialyzers was 0.19 and 0.205 A.h.kg-1 and the current efficiency was 75.9 and 73.1 %, correspondingly. Study of the process of electromembrane transformation allowed obtaining zwitterionic form of L-lysine from L-lysine monohydrochloride with minimal reagent and energy consumption.

  • Effect of Nb addition on the phase transformation behavior was studied through continuous cooling transformation tests after reheating(reheating CCT) and deforming(deforming CCT) the 0.07%C-1.3%Mn-0.015%Ti-(0~0.08)% Nb steels. Transformation temperatures for deforming CCT were lower than those for reheating CCT, and the critical cooling rate for bainite transformation during deforming CCT was lower than that during reheating CCT. These enhanced hardenability for deforming CCT was considered to come from the sufficient solid solution of Nb in austenite during high temperature reheating before deformation. With Nb addition, the phase transformation temperature decreased, the bainite formation was enhanced, and the hardness of steel increased. Furthermore, these phenomena were more remarkable for deforming CCT than for reheating CCT. From the results, Nb-Ti bearing low carbon steel was considered to be a very favorable alloy system with good strength/toughness balance by recrystallization control rolling process.

  • This study was conducted to find optimum bacterial density for improving the efficiency of transformation mediated by Agrobacterium tumefaciens in apples. Regeneration(15%) and transformation frequency(10%) were increased in resuspension-culture density $A_{600}$ 1.3 from preculture density $A_{600}$ 0.7 of Agrobacterium tumefaciens in ′Fuji′. In ′Gala′, 20% regeneration and 16% transformation frequency were observed at optimum bacterial density $A_{600}$ 0.7 form preculture density $A_{600}$ 1.3. ′Mclntosh as well as "Gala" were 25%regeneration and 10% transformation frequency. Hence a frequency optimum condition of bacterial density for the efficient transformation of apple could be depend on apple genotypes.

  • The thermo-mechanical characteristics of high temperature NITINOL shape memory alloy were evaluated using DSC with small samples and DMA with three-point bending specimens. The shape memory alloy of 54.4Ni/45.5Ti wt.% was used so that the phase transformation temperatures were in the range of 50~11$0^{\circ}C$. Two types of sample were tested in the experiments corresponding to as-received and annealed conditions. Simple beam bending theory was used to calculate the dynamic moduli of the shape memory alloy. According to the results, a large discrepancy in transformation temperatures was found between DSC and DMA techniques. Annealing treatment was found to suppress the R-phase transformation during cooling and the secondary plateau in the austenite transformation. Such a heat treatment was also significantly influenced to raise the transformation temperatures and the moduli of the shape memory alloy.
