In general, the idea of fun is understood to be associated with interesting things, playfulnesses, joy, pleasure, etc. The "fun culture," which seeks enjoyment and pleasure through life, is a characteristic of elements observed in today's society and culture. This exerts a powerful impacts on the business operation, marketing, and product manufacturing. Moreover, it is accepted as one of remarkable phenomena representing the changing trends of fashion in the 21st century. The objectives of this study were to analyze and categorize the fun motifs observed in fashion designer Walter Van Beirendonck 's collections, to examine their formative characteristics, and to establish academic approaches and analytic framework in studying the fun phenomenon emerging in fashion. As to research methods, this study laid a theoretical ground by reviewing the related literature and previous studies, and conducted a positive case study using the data on Walter Van Beirendonck's collections and exhibitions. According to the results of this study, the fun motifs represented in Walter Van Beirendonck's collections are largely categorized into "deviation from rules," "humorous and obscene graphic images," "introduction and transformation of heterogeneous elements," "women with male gender' etc. On the other side of Walter Van Beirendonck's fashion are sex, sexual humors, sexuality, fetishism, love, form, body, language, social phenomena, harmony between nature and life, consumerism, race, shamanism, tribal rituals, nation, cultural collision, transcendent things, science fictions, cyber Space, dream, alien, future, fairytale, fantasy etc. which are expressed by using fun motifs. Moreover, these themes are led to masculinity and fantasy.

An accurate characterization of the display device is essential for better color matching. The calibration and characterization process in display device is needed to transform the device dependent color to the device independent color. The process of characterization performs a linearization and transforms the linearized values into the CIE XYZ tristimulus values. The purposes of this paper is to propose optimal color transformation method for accurate reproduction of original copy in display device and to explain the propriety of transformation method using specific variable for the power of gradation expression.

The vernacular houses with 田-shaped floor plan at Gangreung have been played important roles in tracing the vernacular living cultures including housing life. But due to the adoption of convenient facilities in vernacular housing lives caused by modernization and urbanization, many changes and transformations have happened at residential space of vernacular houses. This thesis targets to extract basic data to prepare and prevent various problems in process of renovation, extension and function change as installing housing life facilities, and to identify the changes and transformations of them to prepare the proper balances between their original form preservation and residents' convenience living. The results are as follows. The inner wall removal of rooms, the fuel change of cooking and heating, the leveling change of kitchen floor made possible the sedentary lifestyles. And its residential rooms were transformed from two row to one row by inner wall removal, the fuel heating change, the heating method change and the heat insulating materials. The residential extension materials were changed from the traditional materials such as soil, wood, etc to the modern materials such as cement block or brick, sandwich panel, etc. And the modern materials were used and attached to widen residential spaces to the vernacular house because of the easiness of execution. So, it is necessary for 田-shaped floor plan vernacular house owners to distribute printed execution guide book to prevent and minimize the various problems to be shown by extension, renovation and function change.

Some factors had influence upon the grotesque image formation expressed in fashion: for instance, thanatos, religions, fin de siecle (end of the century), the aesthetics of ugliness, subculture group's resistance and technology development, etc. Those factors have formed a grotesque while exchanging influence each other, and have following features: First, the thanatos, which is destructive and aggressive instinct of the inner world of human being, creates frightening object and motif to form the images of grotesque. Second, from religious point of view, the church made the Devil a tool for maintenance of power: They manipulated physical body and give a damage to it to sublimate it in holy existence, so that they could feel catharsis. Third, there was fin de siecle (end of the century) to let people have negative life attitude, such as uneasiness on following century, eschatology, skepticism and nihilism, etc. Fourth, the ugliness having unpleasantness and disharmony occupies governing position when our society becomes corrupted and uneasy, and the aesthetics of ugliness discloses the inconsistency of ideal and beautiful life in the grotesque images. Fifth, subculture groups, i.e., the lower classes, homosexual and the youth's group, etc, form the grotesque images by political and ideological resistance, complaints and specific identity, etc concerning governing culture keeping traditional ethics consciousness. Sixth, recent technology development has destroyed a boundary between human being and machinery, and bio-technology development has created transplant operation, plastic operation and other human body transformation operations, and genome research, etc has raised human being's identity.

An industrial process is a sequence of steps intended to perform a useful task in an industrial organization, and can be described using a model or a representation framework such as function model, information model, process flow model, etc. Many researchers, however, claim that, all those models from different perspectives are required to describe complex systems such as CIMS. Thus these perspectives should be put together to build an optimal system. And the need for interconnection or transformation among different view points has arisen for effective communications between system developers and easy propogation of local changes in a model. But it seems to be difficult to integrate such models into a unified framework as they describe different aspects of the system on different purposes. This study is an attempt to interconnect these different perspectives, and thereby to support conceptual design of systems in a more effective manner. A methodology to transform the IDEFO functional model into a process flow model is proposed. The validity of the proposed approach is tested by developing a prototye of a computer-assisted design system on the operation processes of FMS installed at Seoul National University - Automation and Systems Research Institute.

This paper proposes a new approach of Field Programmable Gate Array (FPGA) controlled digital implementation of shunt active power filter (SAPF) under steady state and dynamic operations. Typical implementations of SAPF uses microprocessor and digital signal processor (DSP) but it limited for complex algorithm structure, absence of feedback loop delays and their cost can be exceed the benefit they bring. In this paper, the hardware resources of an FPGA are configured and implemented in order to overcome conventional microcontroller or digital signal processor implementations. This proposed FPGA digital implementation scheme has very less execution time and boosts the overall performance of the system. The FPGA controller integrates the entire control algorithm of an SAPF, including synchronous reference frame transformation, phase locked loop, low pass filter and inverter current controller etc. All these required algorithms are implemented with a single all-on chip FPGA module which provides freedom to reconfigure for any other applications. The entire algorithm is coded, processed and simulated using Xilinx 12.1 ISE suite to estimate the advantages of the proposed system. The coded algorithm is also defused on a single all-on-chip Xilinx Spartan 3A DSP-XC3SD1800 laboratory prototype and experimental results thus obtained match with simulated counterparts under the dynamic state and steady state operating conditions.

In content based image retrieval (CBIR) system, the images are represented based upon its feature such as color, texture, shape, and spatial relationship etc. In this paper, we propose a MRI Image Retrieval using wavelet transform with mahalanobis distance measurement. Wavelet transformation can also be easily extended to 2-D (image) or 3-D (volume) data by successively applying 1-D transformation on different dimensions. The proposed algorithm has tested using wavelet transform and performance analysis have done with HH and $H^*$ elimination methods. The retrieval image is the relevance between a query image and any database image, the relevance similarity is ranked according to the closest similar measures computed by the mahalanobis distance measurement. An adaptive similarity synthesis approach based on a linear combination of individual feature level similarities are analyzed and presented in this paper. The feature weights are calculated by considering both the precision and recall rate of the top retrieved relevant images as predicted by our enhanced technique. Hence, to produce effective results the weights are dynamically updated for robust searching process. The experimental results show that the proposed algorithm is easily identifies target object and reduces the influence of background in the image and thus improves the performance of MRI image retrieval.

We present an algorithm for automatic anatomically adaptive image enhancement of digital chest radiographs. Chest images were exposed using digital radiography system with a 0.143 mm pixel pitch, l4-bit gray levels, and 3121 ${\times}$ 3121 matrix size. A chest radiograph was automatically divided into two classes (lung field and mediastinum) by using a maximum likelihood method. Each pixel in an image was processed using fuzzy domain transformation and enhancement of both the dynamic range and local gray level variations. The lung fields were enhanced appropriately to visualize effectively vascular tissue, the bronchus, and lung tissue, etc as well as pneumothorax and other lung diseases at the same time with the desired mediastinum enhancement. A prototype implementation of the algorithm is undergoing trials in the clinical routine of radiology department of major Korean hospital.

Low-rise Residential neighborhoods of Hongdae area, Garosu-gil, Samchung-dong, Itawon etc. are currently emerging new spaces for cultural consumption in the city. Nonetheless undiscerning excessive commercialization often results in monotonous urban space and deportation of residents and leaders of change; Due to commercialization and popularization recently this phenomenon is influencing surrounding low-rise residential neighborhoods. The main objective of this study is to examine how surrounding low-rise residential neighborhood transforms according to the expansion of culture-commerce spaces. Hongdae area's culture-commerce spaces and its expansion into Yeonnam-dong is investigated in specific. Especially attributes and main causes of transformation in physical and experiential space of neighborhood living facilities and residential buildings, when changed into culture-commerce related use is examined in detail. The expansion of culture-commerce space of Hongdae to Yeonnam-dong area has positive meaning in aspects of everyday experience. First, physical alteration of street-building relation increases direct and indirect contact of people. Contact opportunity carries important meaning in sense that it is prerequisite for next stage contact of network and exchange. Second, culture-commerce related programs provide the third place, where various leisure activities can take place. Attributes of transformation and positive meaning of culture-commerce spaces expanding its territory presents the need of management.
