자전거 대상 자동비상제동장치의 성능평가 시나리오 개발 (Safety Assessment Scenarios for Cyclist AEB)

  • This paper presents safety assessment scenarios for cyclist autonomous emergency braking(AEB) system. To assess the safety performance of AEB in real traffic situation with limited number of scenarios, scenario should reflect the characteristics of real traffic collision cases. For this, statistic data of real traffic car-to-cyclist collision in Korea are analyzed. Many types of accidents are listed and categorized based on the movement of vehicle and cycle just before the collision. Then, the characteristics, main issues and limitations of each scenarios are discussed. Not only the test scenario itself but also the cost and time for the test are very important issues for the test scenarios to actually repeat the test for various systems. Also, the performance of AEB can be effected by the algorithm of AEB and the technical limitation of the sensors and hardwares. Therefore, required number of tests, possibility of dummy destruction and other technical issues are discussed for each scenarios. Based on these information, typical scenarios are selected. Also, using this information, vehicle speed range, cyclist speed and collision point are established. Proposed scenarios are verified and modified based on the vehicle test results. vehicle test was evaluated 5 times for each scenarios. Based on this results, final test scenarios are modified and proposed.

  • This paper present a performance evaluation scenarios to assess the safety performance of autonomous emergency braking (AEB) system for cyclist collision. To guarantee the safety performance of AEB for cyclist, AEB system should be tested in various scenarios which can be occurred in real driving condition. For this, real-traffic car-to-cyclist collision data are analyzed to classify the real traffic collision scenarios. Using this information, typical car-to-cyclist collision scenarios are selected. Also, in order to develop the detail features of these collision scenarios, several accident cases related with these scenarios are explained. Based on these information, test scenarios which can describe the car-to-cyclist collisions occurred in Korea are proposed. For practicality and feasibility of the test scenarios, proposed scenarios should be designed to assess the safety performance of AEB system effectively. For this, some test scenarios are combined or removed based on the consideration about the effectiveness of each scenario to the assessment of the performance of AEB system. To confirm that the proposed test scenarios are realistic and physically meaningful, simulation is conducted using simple AEB system in proposed test scenarios.

시나리오를 이용한 울산 내항의 혼잡 분석 (Congestion Analysis in the Inner Harbour of Ulsan Using a Scenario)

  • Since traffic congestion ratio at any given port fluctuates on the number of arriving and departing vessels, the total tonnage of freight volume being handled, and the number of berth in operation and other factors, there exists a need to numerically analyze the waterway traffic volume. However, there are no effective regulations in regards to the waterway traffic analysis prior to expansion of a port facility. The current analysis requires the traffic analysis in relation only to the width of the waterway, which clearly falls short of achieving a comprehensive evaluation study that could be used in consideration of port expansion.This study provides five scenarios to execute a comprehensive evaluation study and base for the sensitivity study by analyzing the scenarios. As a result of the sensitivity analysis, the A, B, and C scenarios varies the average arrival ratio of the berth shows 1.1, 1.19, and 1.28 times of delays respectively. Also, The D and E scenarios take place malfunctions of pier shows 1.21 and 1.53 times of delays respectively. Therefore, various strategies of harbor development and method of harbor management are needed for the flexible correspondence to the environmental changes such as the excessive increasing of the freight volume and often taking place of malfunctioning.

Spatial Multilevel Optical Flow Architecture-based Dynamic Motion Estimation in Vehicular Traffic Scenarios

  • Pedestrian detection is a challenging area in the intelligent vehicles domain. During the last years, many works have been proposed to efficiently detect motion in images. However, the problem becomes more complex when it comes to detecting moving areas while the vehicle is also moving. This paper presents a variational optical flow-based method for motion estimation in vehicular traffic scenarios. We introduce a framework for detecting motion areas with small and large displacements by computing optical flow using a multilevel architecture. The flow field is estimated at the shortest level and then successively computed until the largest level. We include a filtering parameter and a warping process using bicubic interpolation to combine the intermediate flow fields computed at each level during optimization to gain better performance. Furthermore, we find that by including a penalization function, our system is able to effectively reduce the presence of outliers and deal with all expected circumstances in real scenes. Experimental results are performed on various image sequences from Daimler Pedestrian Dataset that includes urban traffic scenarios. Our evaluation demonstrates that despite the complexity of the evaluated scenes, the motion areas with both moving and static camera can be effectively identified.

  • 자율주행차량 사고는 일반차량 사고와 다르게 기술적 문제, 환경, 운전자와의 상호작용 등 다양한 요인에 기인한 사고 발생 가능성이 존재한다. 향후 자율주행 기술의 진보로 기존의 사고원인 이외에도 새로운 이슈들이 대두될 것으로 예상되며, 이에 대응하기 위한 다양한 시나리오 기반의 접근법이 필요하다. 본 연구에서는 자율주행 사고 리포트인, CA DMV collision report와 자율주행모드 해제 보고서인 Disengagement report, 자율주행 실제 사고영상을 수집하여 자율주행차량 교통사고 시나리오를 개발하였다. 시나리오는 ISO 26262의 기능안전 시스템 failure mode에 기반하여 도출되었으며, 자율주행 기능의 다양한 이슈를 반영하고자 하였다. 본 연구를 통해 도출된 자율주행차량 시나리오는 향후 다양한 자율주행차량 교통사고 예방과 대비에 기여할 뿐만 아니라 자율주행 기술의 안전성을 향상시키는 데 중요한 역할을 할 것으로 기대한다.

Design for AEBS Test Scenario Applying Domestic Traffic Accidents

  • This study is a study on the development of AEBS test scenarios for traffic accidents in Korea, and was compared and analyzed using the Traffic Accident Analysis Program. To ensure the safety of passengers and pedestrians in traffic accidents, the number of cars equipped with ADAS is increasing rapidly at all car manufacturers in each country. For traffic accidents used in this study, the domestic traffic accident database (ACCC) produced by SAMSONG was used. Domestic traffic accidents differ from overseas traffic accidents in terms of road type, signal system, driver's seat location and number of vehicles. ACCC databases, which supplemented and reinforced these differences, built a database based on the PC-CRASH program. In the study, we analyze the types of accidents to develop comparative scenarios for each type of road and collision type of traffic accidents. When the road types of traffic accidents in Korea were divided into five types and the collision types were divided into six, it was confirmed that the most types of FRONT-SIDE crashes appeared at the intersection. It is expected that the frequency of possible traffic accidents and collision types can be predicted according to the road type in the accident database, we that it can be used as an AEBS test scenario development suitable for the domestic road environment.

혼잡해소를 위한 도로건설의 정책효과: 시스템 다이내믹스 이론의 적용 (Policy Impact Analysis of Road Transport Investment via System Dynamics Theory)

  • Congestion problems can be approached from the viewpoint of system dynamics theory. The relationship between road capacity and congestion can be explained by the 'relative control' archetype among four system archetypes suggested by Wolstenholme. There is a balancing feedback loop between road capacity and road congestion. However, there is another balancing loop between road congestion and car traffic volume, which keeps disrupting the equilibrium of the former loop. A system dynamics model, which is based on a partial adjustment model of induced traffic in the literature, is built to simulate three road building scenarios: 'Expanding investment', 'Balancing investment' and 'Frozen road investment' scenarios. The 'Expanding investment' scenario manages to drop congestion levels by 9% over 30 years, however, causing much higher emissions of $CO_2$ than other scenarios. The trade-off relationship between congestion levels and environmental costs must be taken into consideration for road investment policies.

  • Regulation for the testing and operation of autonomous vehicles on public roadways has been recently developed all over the world. For example, the licensing standards and the evaluation technology for autonomous vehicles have been proposed in California, Nevada and EU. But specific safety evaluation scenarios for autonomous vehicles have not been proposed yet. This paper presents safety evaluation scenarios for extraordinary service permission of autonomous vehicles on highways. A total of five scenarios are selected in consideration of safety priority and real traffic situation. These scenarios are developed based on existing ADAS evaluation and simulation of autonomous vehicle algorithm. Also, Safety evaluation factors are developed based on ISO requirements, other papers and the current traffic regulations. These scenarios are investigated via computer simulation.

This paper presents safety evaluation scenarios for extraordinary service permission of automated vehicles on highways. A total of seven scenarios are selected in consideration of safety priority and real traffic situation. Six scenarios are relevant with lane keeping and one scenario is relevant with lane change. All scenarios are developed based on existing ADAS evaluation scenarios and repeated simulation of automated vehicle algorithm. Safety evaluation factors as well as scenarios are developed. The safety factors are based on existing ADAS ISO requirements, ADAS safety factors and current traffic regulations. For the scenarios, a hunter vehicle is needed in addition to automated vehicle evaluated. The hunter vehicle performs multiple roles like preceding vehicle, cut-in vehicle and so on. The hunter vehicle is also automated vehicle equipped with high performance GPS, radar and Lidar. All the scenarios can be implemented by driving a lap on a KATRI ITS test track. These scenarios and safety evaluation factors are investigated via both a computer simulation and an experimental vehicle test on the test track. The experimental vehicle test was conducted with two automated vehicles, which are the evaluated vehicle and the hunter vehicle.

  • 교통사고보고서 상의 교통사고 관련 자료 속성들은 그 원인을 파악하고자 하는 전통적인 교통안전 관련 연구에서 뿐만 아니라 최근 자율주행자동차의 안전성 검증 시나리오 개발을 위한 연구에서도 활용될 수 있다. 다만, 교통사고보고서의 자료 속성들은 교통사고 상황 재현 및 시나리오 개발만을 위해 정의된 항목들이 아니므로, 본 연구에서는 확대된 활용성 측면의 교통사고보고서의 개선방향을 제시하고자 한다. 교통사고보고서의 개선방향은 각각 교통사고 발생 이전 상황(pre-crash), 교통사고 중 상황(on-crash), 교통사고 발생 이후 상황(post-crash)로 구분하여 제시하였으며, 각 구분에 따른 추가 자료 항목 또는 자료 처리 방안에 대하여 제시하였다. 또한, 정형화된 형태의 교통사고자료 외에 비정형화된 서술 형태의 교통사고 경위자료로부터 추출 가능한 정보항목들을 도출하여 제시하였다.
