  • The current VIPS are not effective in safety point of view, because they are originally developed for mimicking loop detectors. Therefore, it is important to identify vehicle trajectories in real time, because recognizing vehicle movements over a detection zone enables to identify which situations are hazardous, and what causes them to be hazardous. In order to improve limited safety functions of the current VIPS, this research has developed a computer vision system of monitoring individual vehicle trajectories based on image processing, and offer the detailed information, for example, incident detection and conflict as well as traffic information via tracking image detectors. This system is capable of recognizing individual vehicle maneuvers and increasing the effectiveness of various traffic situations. Experiments were conducted for measuring the cases of incident detection and abnormal vehicle trajectory with rapid lane change.

  • COSMOS system which was developed in Seoul for real-time signal control was designed to judge traffic condition for practicing signal operation. However, it occurs efficiency problem that stop line detection and queue length detection could not judge overflow saturation of street. For that reason, following research process GPS data of Seoul city's corporationowned taxi to calculate travel speed that excluded existing system of stop line detection and queue length detection. Also, "Research of calculating queue length by GPS data" which was progressed with following research expressed queue length. It is based on establishing algorithm of judging congestion situation. The algorithm was applied to a few areas where appeared congestion situation consistently to confirm real time traffic condition with established network. • This paper describes the improved environment recognition algorithms using some type of sensors like LiDAR and cameras. Additionally, integrated control algorithm for an autonomous vehicle is included. The integrated algorithm was based on C++ environment and supported the stability of the whole driving control algorithms. As to the improved vision algorithms, lane tracing and traffic sign recognition were mainly operated with three cameras. There are two algorithms developed for lane tracing, Improved Lane Tracing (ILT) and Histogram Extension (HIX). Two independent algorithms were combined into one algorithm - Enhanced Lane Tracing with Histogram Extension (ELIX). As for the enhanced traffic sign recognition algorithm, integrated Mutual Validation Procedure (MVP) by using three algorithms - Cascade, Reinforced DSIFT SVM and YOLO was developed. Comparing to the results for those, it is convincing that the precision of traffic sign recognition is substantially increased. With the LiDAR sensor, static and dynamic obstacle detection and obstacle avoidance algorithms were focused. Therefore, improved environment recognition algorithms, which are higher accuracy and faster processing speed than ones of the previous algorithms, were proposed. Moreover, by optimizing with integrated control algorithm, the memory issue of irregular system shutdown was prevented. Therefore, the maneuvering stability of the autonomous vehicle in severe environment were enhanced.

  • The development of IT technology, Internet popularity is increasing geometrically. However, as its side effect, the intrusion behaviors such as information leakage for key system and infringement of computation network etc are also increasing fast. The attack traffic detection method which is suggested in this study utilizes the Snort, traditional NIDS, filters the packet with false positive among the detected attack traffics using Nmap information. Then, it performs the secondary filtering using nessus vulnerability information and finally performs correlation analysis considering appropriateness of management system, severity of signature and security hole so that it could reduce false positive alarm message as well as minimize the errors from false positive and as a result, it raised the overall attack detection results.

  • In recent, the number of real-time traffic information sources and providers has increased as increasing smartphone users and intelligent transportation system facilities installed at roadways including vehicle detection system (VDS), dedicated short-ranged communications (DSRC), and global positioning system (GPS) probe vehicle. The accuracy of such traffic information would vary with these heterogeneous information sources or spatiotemporal traffic conditions. Therefore, the purpose of this study is to propose an empirical strategy of heterogeneous information fusion to improve the accuracy of real-time traffic information. To carry out this purpose, travel speed data collection based on the floating car technique was conducted on 227 freeway links (or 892.2 km long) and 2,074 national highway links (or 937.0 km long). The average travel speed for 5 probe vehicles on a specific time period and a link was used as a ground truth measure to evaluate the accuracy of real-time heterogeneous traffic information for that time period and that link. From the statistical tests, it was found that the proposed fusion strategy improves the accuracy of real-time traffic information.

  • As the power of influence of the Internet grows steadily, attacks against the Internet can cause enormous monetary damages nowadays. A worm can not only replicate itself like a virus but also propagate itself across the Internet. So it infects vulnerable hosts in the Internet and then downgrades the overall performance of the Internet or makes the Internet not to work. To response this, worm detection and prevention technologies are developed. The worm detection technologies are classified into two categories, host based detection and network based detection. Host based detection methods are a method which checks the files that worms make, a method which checks the integrity of the file systems and so on. Network based detection methods are a misuse detection method which compares traffic payloads with worm signatures and anomaly detection methods which check inbound/outbound scan rates, ICMP host/port unreachable message rates, and TCP RST packet rates. However, single detection methods like the aforementioned can't response worms' attacks effectively because worms attack the Internet in the distributed fashion. In this paper, we propose a design of distributed worm detection system to overcome the inefficiency. Existing distributed network intrusion detection systems cooperate with each other only with their own information. Unlike this, in our proposed system, a worm detection system on a network in which worms select targets and a worm detection system on a network in which worms propagate themselves cooperate with each other with the direction-aware information in terms of worm's lifecycle. The direction-aware information includes the moving direction of worms and the service port attacked by worms. In this way, we can not only reduce false positive rate of the system but also prevent worms from propagating themselves across the Internet through dispersing the confirmed worm signature.

  • With the increasing popularity of the wireless network, the vulnerability issue on IEEE 802.1x Wireless Local Area Network (WLAN) are more serious than we expected. Security issues range from mis-configured wireless Access Point(AP) such as session hijacking to Denial of Service(DoS) attack. We propose a new system based on intrusion detection or prevention mechanism to protect the wireless network against these attacks. The proposed system has a security solution on AP that includes an intrusion detection and protection system(IDS/IPS) as an embedded module. In this paper, we suggest integrated wireless IDS/IPS module on AP with wireless traffic monitoring, analysis and packet filtering module against malicious wireless attacks. We also present that the system provides both enhanced security and performance such as on the university wireless campus network.

  • To realize high-speed intrusion detection by accommodating many regular expression (regex)-based signatures and growing network link capacities, we propose the Service TimE-Aware Load-balancing (STEAL) algorithm. This work is motivated from the observation that utilization of a many-core network intrusion detection system (NIDS) is influenced by unfair computational distribution among many-core NIDS nodes. To avoid such unfair computational distribution, STEAL is designed to dynamically distribute a large volume of traffic among many-core NIDS nodes based on packet service time, which is represented by the deep packet time in many-core NIDS nodes. From experiments, we show that compared to the commonly used load-balancing algorithm based on arrival rate, STEAL increases the number of received packets (i.e., decreases the number of dropped packets) in many-core NIDS. Specifically, by integrating an open source NIDS (i.e. Bro) with STEAL, we show that even under attack-dominant traffic and with many signatures, STEAL can rapidly improve the performance of many-core NIDS to realize high-speed intrusion detection.

  • Regular or irregular situations such as traffic accidents, damage to road facilities, maintenance or repair work, and vehicle breakdowns occur frequently on highways. It is required to provide traffic services to drivers by promptly recognizing these regular or irregular situations, various techniques have been developed for rapidly collecting data and detecting abnormal traffic conditions to solve the problem. We propose a method that can be used for verification and demonstration of unexpected situation algorithms by establishing a system and developing algorithms for detecting unexpected situations on highways. For the detection of emergencies on expressways, a system was established by defining the expressway contingency and algorithm development, and a test bed was operated to suggest a method that can be used for verification and demonstration of contingency algorithms. In this study, a system was established by defining the unexpected situation and developing an algorithm to detect the unexpected situation on the highway, and a method that can be used verifying and demonstrating unexpected situations. It is expected to secure golden time for the injured by reducing the effectiveness of secondary accidents. Also predictable accidents can be reduced in case of unexpected situations and the detection time of unpredictable accidents.
