  • As interest in traffic safety increases, research on autonomous driving, which reduces the incidence of traffic accidents, is increased. Object recognition and detection are essential for autonomous driving. Therefore, research on object recognition and detection through traffic image big data is being actively conducted to determine the road conditions. However, because most existing studies use only daytime data, it is difficult to recognize objects on night roads. Particularly, in the case of a light source object, it is difficult to use the features of the daytime as it is due to light smudging and whitening. Therefore, this study proposes Yolo based light source object detection for traffic image big data processing. The proposed method performs image processing by applying color model transitions to night traffic image. The object group is determined by extracting the characteristics of the object through image processing. It is possible to increase the recognition rate of light source object detection on a night road through a deep learning model using candidate group data.

  • Research is underway to solve the traffic problem by using crowdsourcing, where drivers use their mobile devices to provide traffic information. If it is used for traffic event detection through crowdsourcing, the task of collecting related data is reduced, which lowers time cost and increases accuracy. In this paper, we propose a scheme to collect traffic-related data using crowdsourcing and to detect events affecting traffic through this. The proposed scheme uses machine learning algorithms for processing large amounts of data to determine the event type of the collected data. In addition, to find out the location where the event occurs, a keyword indicating the location is extracted from the collected data, and the administrative area of the keyword is returned. In this way, it is possible to resolve a location that is broadly defined in the existing location information or incorrect location information. Various performance evaluations are performed to prove the superiority and feasibility of the proposed scheme.

  • Most of the railway traffic control systems are using in the DBMS(Database Management System)is a disk-based DBMS. When the train schedule and the event data is inputted and referred at real time on Disk-based DBMS, it is characteristic of the slow access time and the data is preserved permanently. For this reason, this paper suggests the way of improving for Railway Traffic Control System by the hybrid DBMS using a combination of memory and disk. We apply the Hybrid DBMS to Railway Traffic Control System and compare the existing method with suggested one using the same data. As a result of comparison, we have come to the conclusion that suggested method is far more performance to shorten data access time and process a mass information than the previous methods.

  • Recently, the demand of the Intelligent Transportation System(ITS) has been increased to a large extent, and a real-time traffic information service based on the internet system became very important. When ITS companies carry out real-time traffic services, they find some traffic data missing, and use the conventional method of reconstructing missing values by calculating average time trend. However, the method is found unsatisfactory, so that we develop a new method based the spatial and spatial-temporal models. A cross-validation technique shows that the spatial-temporal model outperforms the others.

  • The purpose of this study is to find suitable probability distribution function of complex distribution data like multimodal. Normal distribution is broadly used to assume probability distribution function. However, complex distribution data like multimodal are very hard to be estimated by using normal distribution function only, and there might be errors when other distribution functions including normal distribution function are used. In this study, we experimented to find fit probability distribution function in multimodal area, by using AIS(Automatic Identification System) observation data gathered in Mokpo port for a year of 2013. By using chi-squared statistic, gaussian mixture model(GMM) is the fittest model rather than other distribution functions, such as extreme value, generalized extreme value, logistic, and normal distribution. GMM was found to the fit model regard to multimodal data of maritime traffic flow distribution. Probability density function for collision probability and traffic flow distribution will be calculated much precisely in the future.

  • Increasing amount of road tragic in 90's has drawn much attention in Korea due to its influence on safety problems. Various types of data analyses are done in order to analyze the relationship between the severity of road traffic accident and driving conditions based on traffic accident records. Accurate results of such accident data analysis can provide crucial information for road accident prevention policy. In this paper, we apply several data fusion, ensemble and clustering algorithms in an effort to increase the accuracy of individual classifiers for the accident severity. An empirical study results indicated that clustering works best for road traffic accident classification in Korea.

  • Recent findings identified the scatter and shape of MFD (macroscopic fundamental diagram) is heavily influenced by the spatial distribution of link density in a road network. This implies that the concept of MFD can be utilized to divide a heterogeneous road network with different degrees of congestion into multiple homogeneous subnetworks. Considering the actual traffic data is usually incomplete and inaccurate while most traffic partition algorithms rely on the completeness of the data, we proposed a three-step partitioned algorithm called Iso-MB (Isoperimetric algorithm - Merging - Boundary adjustment) permitting of incompletely input data in this paper. The proposed algorithm was implemented and verified in a simulated urban transportation network. The existence of well-defined MFD in each subnetwork was revealed and discussed and the selection of stop parameter in the isoperimetric algorithm was explained and dissected. The effectiveness of the approach to the missing input data was also demonstrated and elaborated.

  • In this paper, we propose a method to summarize the monthly traffic amount for analyzing network load in mobile communication system. We used the traffic data obtained from a domestic telecommunication company. Based on the statistical properties of the traffic data, we devise an efficient method to summarize monthly traffic amount.

  • In this paper, we compare performance of three models. The Holt-Winters, FARIMA and ARGARCH models, are used in predicting internet traffic data for analysis of traffic characteristics. We first introduce the time series models and apply them to real traffic data to forecast. Finally, we examine which model is the most suitable for explaining the long memory, the characteristics of the traffic material, and compare the respective prediction performance of the models.

  • This article discusses a capacity planning method in QoS-guaranteed IP networks such as BcN (Broadband convergence Network). Since IP based networks have been developed to transport best-effort data traffic, the introduction of multi-service component in BcN requires fundamental modifications in capacity planning and network dimensioning. In this article, we present the key issues of the capacity planning in multi-service IP networks. To provide a foundation for network dimensioning procedure, we describe a systematic approach for classification and modeling of BcN traffic based on the QoS requirements of BcN services. We propose a capacity planning framework considering data traffic and real-time streaming traffic separately. The multi-service Erlang model, an extension of the conventional Erlang B loss model, is introduced to determine required link capacity for the call based real-time streaming traffic. The application of multi-service Erlang model can provide significant improvement in network planning due to sharing of network bandwidth among the different services.
