A dynamic cell scheduling algorithm for efficient allocation of bandwidth on ATM network (ATM 망에서 효율적 대역폭 할당을 위한 종적 셀 스케줄링 알고리즘)

  • In this paper, a cell scheduling algorithm is proposed to satisfy the service requirements of CBR, VBR traffics. Particularly, inthe proposed algorithm an ABR traffic which is not included in the conventional cell schedulaing algorithm is treated as one kind of traffic types. The algorithm of RT-VBR and NRT-VBR traffic such that the service requrements of RT-VBR and NRT-VBR traffic are satisfied. The proposed algorithm dynamically schedules cells in a real time by considerin the current traffic conditions. The simulation of the proposed algorithms such as WRR or DWRR in terms of the mean delay time and the maximum queue length.

A Report of Elderly Gravida Suffered from Traffic Accidents during Pregnancy (임신 중 교통사고로 내원한 고령 임산부의 치료경과 보고)

  • Objectives : The objective of this study is to report a treated case with elderly gravida who suffered from two-times of traffic accidents during pregnancy. Methods : The patient, 39-year-old, was hospitalized to care pain and symptoms caused by traffic accidents during pregnancy. The patient was treated with herbal medicine, acupuncture, moxibustion, cupping therapy and physical treatment during the admission period. We investigated the clinical management of Korean obstetrics and gynecology in an elderly gravida during pregnancy. Results & Conclusions : Despite of hard conditions such as elderly gravida and two-times of traffic accidents, pregnancy was well maintained through medical treatment. It is suggested that medical treatment of Korean medicine is effective to manage pregnancy of symptoms after accident.

Traffic Accident Models of 3-Legged Signalized Intersections in the Case of Cheongju (3지 신호교차로의 교통사고 발생모형 - 청주시를 사례로 -)

  • This study deals with the traffic accidents at the 3-legged signalized intersections in Cheongu. The goals are to analyze the geometric, traffic and operational conditions of intersections and to develop a various functional forms that predict the accidents. The models are developed through the correlation analysis, the multiple linear, the multiple nonlinear, Poisson and negative binomial regression analysis. In this study, two multiple linear, two multiple nonlinear and two negative binomial regression models were calibrated. These models were all analyzed to be statistically significant. All the models include 2 common variables(traffic volume and lane width) and model-specific variables. These variables are, therefore, evaluated to be critical to the accident reduction of Cheongju.

  • This paper presents the development of a method for determining the response modification factor, using traffic load. The proposed method is based on the results of computer simulations of traffic action effects. The simulation program generates random traffic actions for defined traffic conditions and determines the frequency distribution of maximum traffic action effects. Therefore, this study is adopted to long-span bridge for the verification of the proposed method. A comparison between the proposed method and present method shows good agreement in estimating the modified load carrying capacity of bridges.

Determination of Minimum Spacing between Off-ramp Terminus and Intersection Considering the Influence of Adjacent Signalized Intersections (신호교차로 영향에 따른 도시고속도로 유출연결로 최소이격거리에 관한 연구)

  • The interchanges of urban freeways have many problems with traffic operation due to high off-ramp flows and frequent congestion at adjacent intersections. The flow exiting from off-ramps is affected by the operational status and traffic volume conditions of the nearest signalized intersection. As a result, off-ramp flow cannot exit and the queue backs up the freeway mainline when queues from the signalized intersection form up to the junction of the off-ramp and street. The spacing between an off-ramp and an adjacent intersection is likely to determine the traffic conditions at the adjacent intersection. However, the current design guidelines do not consider such a factor. This study is to develop a model calculating the spacing between off-ramps and adjacent intersections considering the signal, traffic, and road conditions. The variables affecting the model in this study are effective green time (g/C), volume-capacity ratio (v/c), the number of lanes, and off-ramp volume. Various scenarios are designed to represent the effects of the variables and the road networks are constructed using VISSIM, which is a common traffic micro-simulation software package. The queue length is derived from VISSIM and this length is considered as the recommended spacing between the off-ramp and the adjacent intersection. Through the simulation analysis, regression models are developed to calculate the queue length reflecting the various conditions such as signals, traffic, and road configurations. The developed model can be used to create road design guidelines to determine the location of off-ramps in the planning stage.

  • In general, drivers need a self-interest information to decide their routes. So, non-governmental sectors, such as Internet Portal Company, make and provide user-oriented contents for drivers in a hurry. But, VMS which is the typical public media always provides traffic-information for drivers without weighting personal characteristics and considering transportation conditions. So in this research, we searched importance and preference of traffic-information contents as IPA(Importance-Performance Analysis)result. We can draw the conclusion that the improvement of traffic-information contents focused on users(drivers) is needed. Specially, we proposed the strategy of VMS according to traffic conditions.

  • This paper proposes a mathematical model to analyze call-and packet-level performance of the TD-CDMA/TDD system which could serve a flexible radio resource management against multi-type heterogeneous and asymmetrical traffic conditions. On call-level analysis, the mathematical model based on queueing theory performs multi-dimensional operations using random vectors or matrices to consider multiple types of traffic and also deal with asymmetrical up- and down-direction transmissions separately. Employing the mathematical model, we obtain rail blocking probability for each type of traffic and also the optimum switching-point with the smallest call flocking probability. And on packet-level analysis, employing a non-prioritized queueing scheme between circuit and packet calls, we solve 2-dimensional random vector problem composed of the queue length for packets and the number of circuit calls being served. Finally, packet-level performance is analyzed in terms of the packet loss probability and the buffer size required under mixed-traffic conditions of multiple types of circuit and packet calls.

  • The vehicle travel time between locations in a downtown is greatly influenced by both complex road conditions and traffic situation that changes real time according to various external variables. The customer's demands also stochastically change by time period. Most vehicle routing problems suggest a vehicle route considering travel distance, average vehicle speed, and deterministic demand; however, they do not consider the dynamic external environment, including items such as traffic conditions and stochastic demand. A realistic vehicle routing problem which considers traffic (smooth, delaying, and stagnating) and stochastic demands is suggested in this study. A mathematical programming model and hybrid genetic algorithm are suggested to minimize the total travel time. By comparing the results considering traffic and stochastic demands, the suggested algorithm gives a better solution than existing algorithms.

Analysis Study on the Microscopic Characteristics of Freeway Free Flow Speed (고속도로 자유교통류 속도의 미시적 특성에 관한 연구)

  • Operating speed is one of key elements in the design and operation of freeway. Few studies have been carried out macroscopically to find characteristics of free-flow speed (FFS) using small sample size and not considering the conditions of traffic volume and the effects of hour periods. As an attempt to find out the characteristics of FFS, this study microscopically analysed both the distributions of freeway FFS and percentile speeds according to traffic volume and daily hour periods using huge sample size. It was found out that speed distributions are changed and showed different behaviors under the conditions of traffic volumes(1-5 veh/30sec) and daily hour periods(0-5, 6-8, 9-11, 12-19, 20-23). V85(85th percentile speed) at morning, night, and midnight period decreases according to increase in traffic volume respectively, whereas V85 at day time does not show considerable differences. So the behaviors of V85 according to hour periods dramatically changed according to the increase in traffic volume.

  • Transportation is gradually changing into the era of V2X and autonomous cars. Accurate judgement of traffic conditions is an important indicator of route choice or autonomous driving. There are many ways to use probes car such as taxis, as a way to identify accurate traffic conditions. These methods may vary depending on the characteristics of the probe vehicle, and there is a problem with the cost. The V2X vehicle can solve these problems and collect traffic information in real time. If all vehicles are of V2X vehicle, these issues are expected to be resolved briefly. However, if the communication information of a V2X vehicle is represented by a traffic representative in a traffic with only V2X, the traffic information of some V2X vehicles will be able to collect traffic information. To accomplish this, a virtual network and transport were created and various scenarios were performed through SUMO simulations. It has been analyzed that 3-5 % of V2 vehicles are capable of representative the road traffic characteristics. In the future, various follow-up studies are planned.
