지류문화재 보존수리에 있어서 한지의 섬유 배향성 분석 연구 (The Study of Hanji and Washi Fiber Orientation using Image analysis)

  • This work aims to clarify the character and selection of repair papers, based on fibre orientation information of paper cultural properties under restoration; using nondestructive image analysis applied to micrographs of paper surfaces. Image analysis using fast Fourier transform with suitable modifications was demonstrated to be an effective means to determine angle and intensity of fiber orientation as a nondestructive method. In the case of contemporary repair papers, the Japanese handmade paper exhibited a high anisotropy value, while the Korean handmade papers exhibited low anisotropy values. Korea and Japanese traditional hand making papers were well distinguished. Korea and Japanese papers made in the traditional ways showed its own characteristic orientation behavior in accordance with the motion of a bamboo wire.

Extension of Fast Level Set Method with Relationship Matrix, Modified Chan-Vese Criterion and Noise Reduction Filter

  • The level set based approach is one of active methods for contour extraction in image segmentation. Since Osher and Sethian introduced the level set framework in 1988, the method has made the great impact on image segmentation. However, there are some problems to be solved; such as multi-objects segmentation, noise filtering and much calculation amount. In this paper we address the drawbacks of the previous level set methods and propose an extension of the traditional fast level set to cope with the limitations. We introduce a relationship matrix, a new split-and-merge criterion, a modified Chan-Vese criterion and a novel filtering criterion into the traditional fast level set approach. With the segmentation experiments we evaluate the proposed method and show the promising results of the proposed method.

Papoulis-Gerchberg 방법의 개선에 의한 초해상도 영상 화질 향상 (Super-resolution image enhancement by Papoulis-Gerchbergmethod improvement)

  • This paper proposes super-resolution reconstruction algorithm for image enhancement. Super-resolution reconstruction algorithms reconstruct a high-resolution image from multi-frame low-resolution images of a scene. Conventional super- resolution reconstruction algorithms are iterative back-projection(IBP), robust super-resolution(RS)method and standard Papoulis-Gerchberg(PG)method. However, traditional methods have some problems such as rotation and ringing. So, this paper proposes modified algorithm to improve the problem. Experimental results show that this proposed algorithm solve the problem. As a result, the proposed method showed an increase in the PSNR for traditional super-resolution reconstruction algorithms.

Analysis of Narrative for Mobile e-book Applications with Haeinsa Buddhist Tales

  • This study describes the humanistic perspective inherent in Korean Buddhism. It is based on a narrative of the establishment of Haeinsa Temple, which is one of the three major Korean traditional temples, and represents the heritage of Korean Buddhism. With this narrative, we developed and implemented mobile content for Android devices titled "Treasures from the Palace of the Dragon King". Its scenario, which is a folktale of the establishment of the Haeinsa Temple, was created using A.J. Greimas' Actantial model as the research method. As a result, the content developed by the reconstruction of the scenario consists of mini-games and animations offering an intuitive user experience (UX), which is implemented in a compound E-BOOK for mobile devices. We aim to promote Korea's traditional culture throughout the world, using this content as a starting point for the future.

농촌전통마을 경관에 대한 도시주민의 이미지 평가 (Evaluation of the City Residents' images on the Landscape of the Rural Traditional Theme Village)

  • This study analyzes the behaviors and images of city residents on the six Gyeongsangbuk-do rural theme villages. The results of analysis bring the following conclusions. 1) Behaviors of city residents are related with the images on rural villages. In addition, the better the image is, the higher their behaviors' needs. 2) Behaviors' needs become higher on the village as the image on 'Scale type' becomes better. 3) Especially, in case of Gimcheon and Gyeongju, we find a strong relationship between the images of 'Scale type' and 'Magnificent type' and behaviors; these villages should raise the scale and standard of villages by certain point.

  • The meta-universe, as an innovative medium of digital technology that integrates the virtual and real worlds, is revolutionizing the traditional K-POP industry by leveraging advanced technologies such as artificial intelligence (AI), virtual reality (VR), augmented reality (AR), and motion capture. This transformation is gradually reshaping the entire entertainment sector. As K-POP continues its global expansion, the industry is actively exploring the application of virtual technologies, presenting viewers with a more diverse range of entertainment content. This thesis reviews the development history of virtual technology in K-POP, analyzes the practical applications of VR, AR, AI, and motion capture within the industry, and examines how these technologies enhance artist-fan interactions and immersion. The study demonstrates that the incorporation of virtual technology not only overcomes the limitations of traditional entertainment modes but also provides new directions for the future development of the K-POP industry.

한국의 문화정체성을 표현한 이미지어에 대한 고찰 -1990년대 복식과 건축디자인관련 논문을 중심으로 - (A Study on Imagery Terms of Korean Cultural Identity - Focused on Papers of Fashion and Architectural Design in the 1990s-)

  • 본 연구는 한국의 문화정체성을 표현하는 대표적 이미지어들을 도출함으로써 디자인 분야에서 활용할 수 있는 한국의 정서와 이미지를 구체적인 어휘로 제시하는데 목적이 있다. 연구 방법으로는 1990년대에 발표된 복식과 건축 디자인 논문 중에서 한국의 이미지를 현대적 의미로 재해석한 논문을 중심으로, 디자인 요소, 디자인 원리, 추상성, 표현성 그리고 기능성의 요인과 관련된 이미지어를 유형별로 범주화하여 분석하였다. 복식과 건축디자인 분야를 대상으로 한국의 이미지에 대한 공통성과 차별성을 규명한 결과, 이제까지 보편적으로 인식되어오던 한국의 이미지와 함께 새로운 측면도 발견할 수 있었다. 즉, 이제까지 한국의 문화 정체성을 나타낸다고 인식되어온 무채색, 소박함, 한과 비애, 간접적 표현 등을 나타내는 이미지 외에도 화려한 색채, 고귀함, 즐거움 등과 같은 적극적이고 능동적인 표현도 한국의 문화정체성을 나타내는데 중요한 비중을 차지하고 있음을 알 수 있었다. 또한 건축디자인에서는 복식디자인보다 기능적이고 합리적인 이미지가 도출되었다.

  • The principal government building of Kyungsanbuk-do was designed to show korean traditional architecture with tile-roofed house to reflect the image of Kyungsangbuk-do as the province of traditional culture. The roof of korean traditional architecture is the most importanat part that distinguishes the design character of a building and is important to determine degree of completion. As this is so, in the design phase, we reviewes the design documents about the proportional and slope of the roof, durability and sizes of component material and the structure of eaves. In the construction phase, it was required to cooperated with specialists of traditional architecture for realization of traditional beauty of the buildings as designed.

Content Based Image Retrieval Based on A Novel Image Block Technique Combining Color and Edge Features

  • In this paper we propose the CBIR algorithm which is based on a novel image block method that combined both color and edge feature. The main drawback of global histogram representation is dependent of the color without spatial or shape information, a new image block method that divided the image to 8 related blocks which contained more information of the image is utilized to extract image feature. Based on these 8 blocks, histogram equalization and edge detection techniques are also used for image retrieval. The experimental results show that the proposed image block method has better ability of characterizing the image contents than traditional block method and can perform the retrieval system efficiently.

Adaptive Enhancement Method for Robot Sequence Motion Images

  • Aiming at the problems of low image enhancement accuracy, long enhancement time and poor image quality in the traditional robot sequence motion image enhancement methods, an adaptive enhancement method for robot sequence motion image is proposed. The feature representation of the image was obtained by Karhunen-Loeve (K-L) transformation, and the nonlinear relationship between the robot joint angle and the image feature was established. The trajectory planning was carried out in the robot joint space to generate the robot sequence motion image, and an adaptive homomorphic filter was constructed to process the noise of the robot sequence motion image. According to the noise processing results, the brightness of robot sequence motion image was enhanced by using the multi-scale Retinex algorithm. The simulation results showed that the proposed method had higher accuracy and consumed shorter time for enhancement of robot sequence motion images. The simulation results showed that the image enhancement accuracy of the proposed method could reach 100%. The proposed method has important research significance and economic value in intelligent monitoring, automatic driving, and military fields.
