The spaces assigned with significance are cultural contents embedded with cultural original form of the region and there is room for creative development in order to generate city brand value and to activate the space. This study is significant in that the spatial interpretation of Daechon-dong's Theme Park and the methodology of semiotic spatial planning can not only be applied but also in that this study has demonstrated positive effects on space.

  • Necessity of paradigm change has been awared in urban redevelopment especially, in housing regeneration from uniform scratch without serious consideration about resident's lives to holistic approach based on local culture and residents' participation. The purpose of this research was to identify community places recognized and attached by residents of a housing improvement district which was scheduled to be changed for improvement of the area, in near future. This research itself was considered as an resident participation technique. Group interview at a field site was carried as the main research methodology. As results, valuable places cherished by residents were identified. Most of them could be explained in relation to religious leadership, traditional cultural heritage and democratic movement. In regeneration process those places which have a strong tie with residents needs to be deliberately considered as a target to be preserved rather than demolished. The places also play a role in diffusing a livable village making movement. The result is expected to be used to make a cognitive and emotional community map of residents which is meaningfully differentiated from just a physical and geographical map. The places, place recognition activities and diffusion movement for common appreciation can be a basic foundation for residents participation in improving their housing neighborhood environment, and in creating value added strategies for the area.

After we conduct an extensive empirical research(346 parents) in order to generalize 195 items of the workedout questionnaire. We apply factor analysis(principal axis factoring, oblique (promax) rotation) in the verification of the validity. As the consequence, we select 66 items consisting, 10 factors, which explain 68% of common variance. We name the 10 educational factors extracted in the scale as follows ; The Sense of Value, Communal Society, Sex, Esteem for an ancestor & a traditional way of life, Parent-Child Relationship, the Culture life within the family, The Guide of Learning Way, Setting up the way of life, The control of one's life, Friendship. • Gumiganghwal-tang (GMT) is a traditional herbal prescription used for treatment of the common cold, pain, and inflammatory diseases. Variations in the amounts of bioactive components of GMT and GMT fermented with 10 Lactobacillus strains were investigated by high-performance liquid chromatography coupled with diode array detection (HPLC-DAD). Simultaneous qualitative and quantitative analyses of eleven bioactive compounds (prim-O-glucosylcimifugin, liquiritin, cimifugin, baicalin, liquiritigenin, wogonoside, baicalein, wogonin, butylphthalide, imperatorin, and isoimperatorin) were performed, with comparison of their retention times (tR) and UV spectra with those of standard compounds. The amounts of baicalin (8.71 mg/g), liquiritigenin (5.28 mg/g) and butylphthalide (5.10 mg/g) were the major compounds in GMT. We found that L. fermentum KFRI 145 fermented wogonoside and baicalin to their aglycones, wogonin and baicalein, respectively. These results indicated that L. fermentum KFRI 145 has potential as a functional starter culture for manufacturing fermented GMT.
