NPC 3-레벨 인버터를 적용한 차세대 고속전철 IPMSM의 구동 (IPMSM Drives Using NPC 3-Level Inverters for the Next Generation High Speed Railway System)

  • NPC 멀티레벨 인버터는 2-레벨 인버터 방식에 비해 전력용 반도체 소자의 정격 전압과 출력전류의 고조파를 감소시킬 수 있는 장점이 있어 고압 대용량 전동기 구동시스템에 적합하다. NPC 3-레벨 인버터를 이용한 IPMSM의 속도 제어에서 일정 토크 영역에서는 최대 토크 제어, 일정 출력 영역에서는 약계자 제어 방식을 적용하였다. 제안된 시스템은 MATLAB/Simulink를 이용한 시뮬레이터를 구현하여 모의 시험 결과 분석을 통해 그 타당성을 검증하였다.

  • This paper presents the over-modulation strategy and indirect vector control drive of NPC type PWM inverter. NPC inverter has three level phase voltage output.It can perform in high voltage through assembling switching components. It has less harmonics and surge voltage stress at motor terminals than the 2 level inverter in same switching frequency through 3 level voltage. The conventional railway vehicle has used the vector control to MI=0.907 and the slip-frequency control from MI=0.907 to six-step mode. The slip-frequency control has bad motive power and slow torque control response. But vector control has good motive power and can instant torque control. In this paper, output voltage is controlled linearly from linear region to six-step mode by using over-modulation strategy. And NPC inverter is used.

스텝모터의 진동 저감을 위한 마이크로 스텝 구동에 관한 연구 (A Study on the Micro Stepping Drive to Reduce Vibration of Step Motor)

  • In this study, We use microstep control to reduce vibration of step motor. Microstep control of step motor is usually thought of as an extension of conventional step motor control technology. The essence of micro stepping is that we divide the full step of a step motor into a number of substep called microstep and cause the stepmotor to move through a substep per input pulse. In ideal case, by controlling the individual phase currents of a two-phase step motor sinusoidally we can get uniform torque and step angle. But due to the nonlinear characteristics of the step motor, we need to compensate current waveform to improve the over-all smoothness of the conventional micro stepping system. We implement digital Pulse Width Modul- ation (PWM) driver to drive step motor and microphone was used for detecting vibration. Driver enables speed change automatically by increasing or decreasing micro stepping ratio which we call Automatic Switching on the Fly. To compensate the torque harmonics, neural network is applied to the system and we found compensated optimal input current waveform. Finally we can get smooth motion of step motor in a wide range of motor speed.

Characteristics comparison between air-cored and iron-cored 100 kW HTS field winding synchronous motors

  • This paper presents comparative research on characteristics of air-cored and iron-cored high-temperature superconductor (HTS) field winding synchronous motors. The 100 kW air-cored model is designed analytically by Spatial Harmonic Method, and based on this model, the iron-cored model having the same output power is designed for comparison. Due to the substantial difference of permeability property between air and iron-core, there is a difference of magnetic field magnitude and angle with respect to the HTS tape c-axis, resulting in a different critical current of the field winding considering the anisotropic property of HTS tape. For a detailed comparison between two models, the following key motor characteristics are calculated through the Finite Element Method (FEM) simulation: 1) critical current; 2) HTS wire length; and 3) torque characteristics. From the simulation results, it can be confirmed that the critical current value of the iron-cored model increases by 33 %. Also, in the case of the superconducting wire consumption, those of the iron-cored and air-cored models are 95.3 m and 815.6 m, respectively. So the wire usage can be reduced to about 88 % by using iron core. However, in terms of torque characteristics, the torque ripple of the iron-cored model is about twice as large as that of the air-cored model, which may be a disadvantage on vibration and acoustic noise.

5상 유도전동기 구동을 위한 수정된 직접 토크제어 시스템 (The Modified Direct Torque Control System for Five-Phase Induction Motor Drives)

  • 본 논문에서는 5상 농형유도전동기(Five-phase squirrel-cage induction motor)의 수정된 직접 토크제어(Direct torque control, DTC) 시스템을 제안한다. 5상 유도전동기 구동은 추가적인 자유도로 인하여 개선된 특성이 얻어짐과 동시에 일반적인 3상 유도전동기에 비해 토크의 맥동이 감소하며, 신뢰성 증가와 같은 장점을 가진다. 5상 유도전동기의 직접 토크제어는 인버터 구동시스템이 기존의 3상 인버터가 8개의 공간전압 벡터를 가지고 있는 것에 비해서 32개의 공간전압 벡터를 제공하기 때문에 여러 가지 장점이 있다. 그러나 5상 전동기의 경우는 제3공간 고조파 성분으로 인하여 구조적인 단점을 가지고 있어 고조파 성분의 전류제어가 요구된다. 따라서 이 논문에서는 5상 유도전동기의 특성을 개선하기 위하여 제3고조파 전류성분을 제어할 수 있는 수정된 직접 토크제어 시스템을 제시한다. 전통적인 5상 유도전동기의 직접 토크제어와 제안된 직접 토크제어 시스템의 운전특성을 검증하기 위하여, 디지털 제어기로 32[bit] 고정소수점 DSP인 TMS320F2812를 사용하여 2.2[kW] 5상 유도전동기의 속도제어 시스템을 구성하여 동특성을 관찰한 결과 우수한 특성이 얻어짐을 확인하였다.

  • Variable Structure System(VSS) la being extended to a new control system of ac servo machines for its merits of simple mechanism and robustness. This paper has studied about applying VSS to position control for brushless servo motor. But VSS has the chattering problem of control input. This chattering phenomenon cause acoustic noises, torque ripple and increase harmonics of the current. One of the useful way to eliminate this defect of VSS, linearlizing the switching function is discussed here. Though the conventional method of linearizing the switching function diminishes the chattering, it may degrade the robustness of the system. In this paper, new linearized switching function which shows robust performance to the parametric variation and reduces chattering simultaneously is introduced and assured by simulation.

  • In inverter system for driving induction motor, the output harmonics are hamrful in induction motor drive because it leads to ripple torque and induction interference. For electrical drives using PWM(Pulsewidth Modulation) inverters and ac motors, the methods for efficiency optimal control have been developed. In this paper, two different PWM methods for inverter and voltage control technique are described. In order to reduce or minimize losses, various forms of PWM strategy such as, PM (Positive Modulation) and NM (Negative Modulation) are discussed. The results show the feasibility of obtaining practically sinusoidal output waveforms which are highly desirable in most inverter application.

Comparative Analysis of 10 MW Superconducting Wind Power Generators with Three-phase and Nine-phase Armature Windings

  • When referring to weight, volume, and efficiency, a SuperConducting Synchronous Generator (SCSG) is definitely superior to conventional generators as a large-scale wind power generation system. The SCSG is connected to a full power converter that transmits the energy from the SCSG to the power grid. To reduce the current stress and system cost, the SCSG which has nine-phase armature windings with three converters is used. This paper deals with a comparative analysis of 10 MW superconducting wind power generators with three-phase and nine-phase armature windings. The stator windings of SCSGs are of various types. Using the finite element method, SCSGs are analyzed and compared in terms of the weight and volume of SCSGs, the total length of the superconducting wire, harmonics, torque performance, and efficiency. The analyzed results will be effectively utilized to design large-scale superconducting generators for wind power generation systems.

  • This paper propose a development of surface permanent mount synchronous generator(SPMSG) for 5-phase 5Kw in order to study a polyphase ac machinery that keep hold of advantages more than traditional three-phase squirrel-cage induction motor, such as reducing a amplitude of torque pulsation decreasing electric noises, and increasing the reliability. Design methods of the generator use a development tools with Maxwell 2D and Simplorer. There are designed drawing of manufactured frames of the SPMSG. A amplitude and waveform of the generated electromotive force, FFT analysis of harmonics within output voltages, and reviewing a experiment results are shown by variable output frequency. We are presenting a design and manufacture methods for the SPMSG.

전기자동차 구동시스템 설계 (Design of Drive System for Electric Vehicle)

  • This paper presents a design method of driving system for EV(Electric Vehicle). EV driving system consist of batteries, battery interface system and inverter. The power control circuit of the driving system is simple, since only one PWM(Pulse Width Modulation) inverter is used. These test spectrums and waveforms can be used to determine the filter component ratings as well as to compute the harmonics injected into the source. The hybrid control strategy which can reduced harmonic components. The analysis results indicate that the required capacity of the condenser can be reduced with LC filter. In this paper, the design and implementation of the proposed systems are described and some experimental results are given to show the performance of this driving system. The control strategy of the system to available inverter's power and motor's power and torque is discussed.
