  • Dentin hypersensitivity medicaments such as Gluma, Scotchbond 2, All-Bond 2, which are resin adhesives, were used to compare the sealing effects of dentinal tubule under mechanical stress. Topical application of above medicaments on the dentin surfaces of extracted teeth followed by artificial tooth brushing for 6 weeks was performed for the comparison. The following conclusions on the degree of dentinal tubule exposure versus time by were reached by using polyvinyl siloxane impression material for taking the impression, epoxy resin for the duplication and SEM for observing the surface. 1. SEM was used to compare the accuracy of the duplicated surface, but no differences were found when teeth samples and the duplicated surfaces were observed. 2. After comparing the degree of dentinal tubules exposure with varnish applied contrast group, resin adhesive materials showed much less exposure as time went by. 3. The results indicated that AU-Bond 2 adhesive, under mechanical stress, showed lesser exposure of dentinal tubules comparing with Gluma and Scotchbond 2 adhesives After the results were put together, it was demonstrated that resin replica method is an useful way to evaluate the treatment effects of the dentinal tubule hypersensitivity medicaments. Also, it was noticed that under mechanical stress, All-Bond 2, classified as fourth generation, illustrated the best dentinal tubules sealing effects.

  • Epidermolysis bullosa (EB) represents a spectrum of conditions that are characterized by blistering and mechanical fragility of the skin. There is genetic heterogeneity and marked variation in clinical phenotypes in the multiple EB disorders. The most recent classification recognizes four major EB grouping and over 30 EB subtypes. The severity of EB ranges from mild to severe skin involvement, and it can be localized or generalized. Oral features include repeated occurrence of blisters, erosions, and scars, which lead to limited mouth opening, ankyloglossia, elimination of buccal vestibule, and increased risk of oral carcinoma. Routine dental care or even normal tooth brushing might cause bullae on the oral mucosa. Occasionally, the clinician will be called upon to treat patients with EB and should therefore be aware of specific treatment modifications. we present a reviews of the literature with a case providing adequate anesthetic and surgical care.

Methods: Using the raw data on 61,858 adolescents collected through the 13th Adolescent Health Behavior Online Survey, a complex samples logistic regression analysis was conducted to assess risks of major oral diseases. Results: The less one consumes sweet drinks and the more one eats vegetables per day, the less likely one is to experience symptoms of tooth decay and periodontal diseases. Undergoing scaling and oral health education help prevent major oral diseases. Brushing after school lunch prevents periodontal diseases and foul breath, and using dental floss and interdental brush also help prevent periodontal diseases. Conclusions: To minimize experiences of oral diseases during adolescent years, it is necessary to periodically scale teeth and provide knowledge regarding the personal management of dental plaque through school oral health education.
