  • Since 1966 tissue culture has been used as a tool for the production of disease indexed stocks from selected plants and their rapid (clonal) mass propagation through the procedure now referred to as micropropagation. The major advantages have been the rapid introduction of new plant cultivars, created within conventional and mutation breeding programmes, as healthy stock for beneficial distribution and the expansion of the world wide horticultural industry.   • The goal of radiation therapy is to maximize the tumor dose and to minimize the dose of normal tissue. In order to achieve this goal, the new radiation therapy techniques such as three dimensional conformal therapy or intensity modulated radiation therapy has been developed and tried to clinical application.   • 대뇌조직 구분을 위한 실험적인 정보를 제공하기 위한 뇌조직 확률 지도를 개발하는 경우 개인마다 구조적으로 다양한 형태를 가진 뇌의 특성과 특히 인종간의 두드러진 차이론 반드시 고려해야 한다 본 연구에서는 특정 그룹에 대한 뇌조직 확률 지도를 제작하는데 필요한 절차를 알아보고 나이에 따른 그룹간의 뇌조직 확률 지도의 구조적인 차이를 살펴보고자 한다 피험자 그룹은 100명의 건강한 한국인이며 나이에 따라 두 그룹으로 분류하였다. 뇌 확률 지도의 기준 좌표계를 설정하기 위해 전체 그룹 내의 모든 피험자의 뇌 영상에 대한 평균 영상을 구하고, 각 뇌 영상을 기준 좌표계로 정규화 시킨다. 정규화 과정에서 얻어진 변환 매개 변수를 미리 각 뇌조직(회질, 백질, 뇌척수액)으로 분할된 피험자의 영상에 적용하고 각 그룹 내에서 변환된 뇌 조직 영상을 평균함으로써 뇌 조직 확률 지도를 완성하였다. 나이에 따른 구조적인 차이를 살펴보기 위해 그룹간 확률 값의 차이 영상을 구하였다. 이전 연구결과에서와 마찬가지로 나이가 증가함에 따라 뇌실이 확대되고 회질의 위축이 전체적인 뇌 영역에서 일어났다. 그러므로 우리는 대뇌 조직 분할을 위해 설험적인 정보들을 사용하고자 할 때는 특정 그룹에 대한 뇌 확률 지도를 사용할 것을 제안한다.

  • The purpose of this investigation was to analyze stress distribution in implant supporting tissue according to different types of attachments such as combination bar attachment, Hader bar attachment, O-Ring attachment and Dal-Ro attachment that are used in mandibular overdenture by using two osseointegrated implants, to study the influence that POM IMC used in bar type attachment has in implant supporting tissue and compare the preceding analyses to find out an effective stress distribution method. Three dimensional photoelastic method was used to obtain the following results. (A) Analysis of stress distribution according to attachment type 1. Under vertical load condition, compressive stress was seen at implant supporting area of working side on all the photoelastic models but in Hader bar attachment tensional stress was seen at distal upper area of implant supporting area. Relatively Hader bar and O-Ring attachment showed even stress distribution pattern. 2. Under vertical load condition, compressive stress at implant apex area and tensional stress at implant lateral supporting area were seen at nonworking side of all models. 3. Under $25^{\circ}$ lateral load condition, general compressive stress was seen at working side implant supporting area in most of the models, especially at distal upper supporting area higher compressive stress concentration was seen in combination bar attachment and tensional stress concentration, in Hader bar attachment. 4. Under $25^{\circ}$ lateral load condition, compressive stress at implant apex area and tensional stress at implant lateral supporting area were seen at nonworking side of all models, except O-Ring model which showed compressive stress only. (B) Influence of POM IMC to stress distribution in bar type attachment 5. Under vertical load condition, better stress distribution pattern was seen at working side of combination bar and Hader bar attachment model using POM IMC. 6. Under vertical load condition, stress value was increased at nonworking side of combination bar attachment model using POM IMC and tendency of increasing compression was seen at nonworking side of Hader bar attachment model using POM IMC. 7. Under $25^{\circ}$ lateral load condition, better stress distribution pattern was seen at working side of combination bar attachment model using POM IMC but tendency of increasing stress was seen on working side of Hader bar attachment model using POM IMC. 8. Under $25^{\circ}$ lateral load condition, stress reduction was seen at nonworking side of combination bar attachment model using POM IMC but tendency of increasing stress was seen at nonworking side of Hader bar attachment model using POM IMC.

Measurement and analysis of Foot Pressure was executed by using by F-scan System. Degree of scoliosis was expressed as a angle used x-ray image of 5-lumbar from 4-thoracic vertebra The correlation between result of foot pressure and degree of scoliosis was evaluated under 0.05 interrelationship, and variables used for analysis were showed high correlation.

신규 퀴놀론계 항생물질 DWQ-013의 흰쥐 및 생쥐에서의 체내동태 (Pharmacokinetic Study on DWQ-013, a New Quinolone, in Rats and Mice)

  • The phannacokinetics and tissue distribution of DWQ-013, a new quinolone, were examined in rats and mice following a single intravenous and oral administration. DWQ-013 in plasma and urine was determined by both HPLC and microbiological assay. The plasma concentration of the drug declined biexponentially. The terminal half life of the drug was 11.11$\pm$0.14 hour after intravenous dosing. The volume of distribution at terminal elimination phase(Vd$_\beta$) and total clearance of the drug were 1.29$\pm$0.15 l/kg and 0.78$\pm$0.09 l/h/kg. The bioavailability of DWQ-013 after oral administration was 56.0% (HPLC) and 77.2%(bioassay), respectively. Twelve-hour urinary recovery of drug was measured by HPLC and bioassay to 0.035$\pm$0009% and 4.71$\pm$066% after oral dosing, to 0.055$\pm$0.014% and 7.65$\pm$1.53% after intravenous dosing, which may indicate the presence of biologically active metabolites. Binding of the drug to plasma proteins ranged from 97%~99% at various concentrations. The drug was highly distributed in order of liver, kidney and lung after 1.5 hours in mice.

Distribution of Phlorotannins in the Brown Alga Ecklonia cava and Comparison of Pretreatments for Extraction

  • The brown seaweed Ecklonia cava is known to be a rich source of phlorotannins that have diverse biological activities. Among the phlorotannins in E. cava, concentrations of dieckol and phlorofucofuroeckol-A, which were identified as major active components, were determined in different parts of the tissue. We compared the efficacy of different pretreatments for their extraction. A high-performance liquid chromatography (HPLC) method to determine phlorotannin concentrations showed good accuracy (92.64 and 94.02%, respectively), precision (3.92 and 3.94%, respectively), and linearity (r>0.996). Mature thalli contained 1.5-fold more dieckol (1.82 mg/g-dry tissue) than young thalli. In the tissues of E. cava, blade tissue contained more phlorotannins than the stipe or holdfast. Among differently dried thalli, approximately 90% or more dieckol and phlorofucofuroeckol-A were extracted from shadow-dried tissue as compared with lyophilized tissue. In sun-dried and oven-dried thalli, approximately 60% of the phlorotannins were extracted. Thalli washed with fresh water, boiled thalli, and steamed thalli showed reduced extraction of the compounds.

Robust Extraction of Lean Tissue Contour From Beef Cut Surface Image

  • A hybrid image processing system which automatically distinguished lean tissues in the image of a complex beef cut surface and generated the lean tissue contour has been developed. Because of the in homegeneous distribution and fuzzy pattern of fat and lean tissue on the beef cut, conventional image segmentation and contour generation algorithm suffer from a heavy computing requirement, algorithm complexity and poor robustness. The proposed system utilizes an artificial neural network enhance the robustness of processing. The system is composed of pre-network , network and post-network processing stages. At the pre-network stage, gray level images of beef cuts were segmented and resized to be adequate to the network input. Features such as fat and bone were enhanced and the enhanced input image was converted tot he grid pattern image, whose grid was formed as 4 X4 pixel size. at the network stage, the normalized gray value of each grid image was taken as the network input. Th pre-trained network generated the grid image output of the isolated lean tissue. A training scheme of the network and the separating performance were presented and analyzed. The developed hybrid system showed the feasibility of the human like robust object segmentation and contour generation for the complex , fuzzy and irregular image.

Prevalence of tissue antigen and serum antibody for porcine reproductive and respiratory syndrome in Cheju

  • A totoal of 219 pigs, 109 necropsy-pigs at the diagnostic laboratory of Cheju National University and 110 slaughter-pigs in Cheju, were evaluated for the prevalence of tissue antigen and serum antibody for spontaneus porcine reproductive and respiratory syndrome(PRRS). Tissues from 219 pigs examined for PRRS viral antigen by immmunohistochemistry included lung(cranio-ventral lobes and dorso-caudal lobes), tonsil, tracheobronchial lymph node, mesenteric lymph node, heart, kidney, liver, spleen, testis, ovary, brain, and spinal cord. Sera from 180 pigs were tested for the presence of antibody to PRRS virus by the indirect fluorescent antibody assay (IFA). In the examination of serum antibody and tissue antigen for PRRS virus, serum antibody titers were considered as positive in 10%(18/180) of animals tested and PRRS viral antigen was detected in tissues of 4%(9/219) of the pigs. PRRS virus tissue antigen was most commonly detected by immunohistochemistry in the cranio-ventral lobe and tonsil. We also confirmed the distribution of tissue antigen and prevalence of serum antibody to PRRS virus in Cheju. The detection of viral antigen by immunohistochemistry in tonsils and cranio-ventral lobes proved to be a very useful method for PRRS diagnosis.
