  • P(VDF/TrFE(72/28) ultrathin films were used in the fabrication of Metal-Ferroelectric polymer-Metal (MFM) single bit device with special emphasis on uniform film surface, faster dipole switching time under applied external field and longer memory retention time. AFM and FTIR-GIRAS were complementary in analyzing surface crystalline morphology and the resultant change in chain orientation with varying thermal history. DC-EFM technique was used to 'write-read-erase' the data on the memory bit in a much faster time than P-E studies. The results obtained from this study will enable us to have a good understanding of the ferroelectric and piezoelectric behavior of P(VDF/TrFE)(72/28) thin films suitable for high density data storage applications.

  • The problem of designing a nonlinear sliding surface for an uncertain system is considered. The proposed sliding surface comprises a linear time invariant term and an additional time varying nonlinear term. It is assumed that a linear sliding surface parameter matrix guaranteeing the asymptotic stability of the sliding mode dynamics is given. The linear sliding surface parameter matrix is used for the linear term of the proposed sliding surface. The additional nonlinear term is designed so that a Lyapunov function decreases more rapidly. By including the additional nonlinear term to the linear sliding surface parameter matrix we obtain a nonlinear sliding surface such that the speed of responses is improved. We also give a switching feedback control law inducing a stable sliding motion in finite time. Finally, we give an LMI-based design algorithm, together with a design example.

  • In this paper, we proposed the new medium access control protocol for the virtual token bus netowrk. The network is applied to inter-processor communication network of large capacity digital switching system and digital mobile system with distributed control architecture. in the virtual token bus netowrk, the existing medium access control protocols hav ea switchove rtime overhead when traffic load is light or asymmetric according ot arbitration address of node that has message to send. The proposed protocol optimized average message delay using cyclic bus access chain to exclude switchover time of node that do not have message to send. Therefore it enhanced bus tuilization and average message delay that degrades the performance of real time communication netowrks. It showed that the proposed protocol is more enhacned than virtual token medium access control protocol and virtual token medium access control protocol iwth reservation through performance analysis.

  • An effective and accurate delay time model is the key problem in the simulation and timing verification of CMOS logic circuits. We propose a semi-analytic CMOW delay time model taking into account the configuration ratio, the input waveform slope and the load capacitance. This model is based on the Schichman Hodges's DC equations and derived on the optimally weighted switching peak current. The parameters necessary for the model calculation are automatically determined from the program. The proposed model is computationally effective and the error is typically within 10% of the SPICEA results. Compared to the table RC model, the accuracy is inproved over two times in average.

  • In accordance with the development of switching devices, the voltage and current signal have involved the time harmonics. But most power meter is designed to operate in sinusoidal signal. Therefore, this paper evaluate the operating state and characteristic of power meter under the voltage and current included the time harmonics, analysing the results which are obtained by means of theorical analysis and an experiment of several instruments for power measuring.

  • This paper presents an LMI-based method to design a integral sliding mode controller for a class of uncertain time-delay systems. Using LMIs we derive an existence condition of a sliding surface guaranteeing the asymptotic stability of the sliding mode dynamics. And we give a switching feedback control law. Our method is a generalization of the previous integral sliding mode control design methods. Since our method is based on LMIs, it gives design flexibility for combining various useful design criteria that can be captured in the LMI-based formulation. We also give LMI existence conditions of sliding surfaces guaranteeing a-stability or LQ performance constraint. Finally, we give a numerical design example to show the effectiveness of the proposed method.

  • In this papre, we describe a recently implemented echo canceller for digital cellular communication of Code Division Multiple Access(CDMA) that features time sharing of digital signal processor(DSP) over four channels in one DSP to reduce per channel costs. In the Public Land Mobile Network(PLMN), it is important to cancel the echo reflected from the Public Switched Telephone Network(PSTN) side. In case of digital mobile system, the round-trip delay of the echo is in excess of about 180 milliseconds due to frame-by-frame voice coding. It is necessary to cancel the echo in PLMN. We have developed a multi-channel echo canceller tht operates with Time Switch Module in a Mobile Switching Center(MSC). The general echo canceller needs PCM trunk interface circuits and the tone detection and disabling circuits, but the multi-channel echo canceller linked with Time Switch Module does not need them. Therefore we could develop the effective and economical echo canceller.

  • This paper presents a new shadow testing acceleration scheme for ray tracing called hybrid shadow testing(HST), based on conditional switching between the conventional shadow testing method and Crow's shadow volume method, with the object polygons as well as the shadow polygons registered onto the corresponding cells under the 3-D space subdivision environment. Despite the preprocessing time for the generation and registration of the shadow polygons, the total shadow testing time of the new algorithm was approximately 50 % of that of the conventional shadow testing method for several examples while the total ray tracing time was typically reduced by 30% from the conventional approach.

  • In this paper. a noble dead time minimization algorithm is presented for reducing the switching losses. Firstly, the effects of the inverter dead time are examined, Secondly the principle of the proposed algorithm is explained with the commutation conditions. And the validity of the proposed algorithm is verified by simulation results. We can conclude from the results that the proposed algorithm have a virtue which is able to reducing the hamonics in the output voltages and which make the output voltage equal to the reference vlaue. Another merit is this method can reduce the number of inverter switchings.

  • In this paper, Voltage-time characteristics of lightning impulse and switching surge breakdown in SF6 is studied on the gap and various pressure. The characteristics is categorized into three pattern depending on the configuration of the gap and gas pressure. The properties of the voltage-time characteristics in these patterns are generalized as semi-empirical formula which will be useful in the quantitation voltage evaluation of insulation coordination and the abnormal voltage protection of SF6 insulated power equipment.
