  • A new driving circuit for the SPSS (Single-Pulse Soft-Switching) PFC converter is proposed. The switching device of a SPSS converter switches once in every half cycle of an AC commercial power source. Therefore, it can be solved many problems caused by the high frequency operation. The proposed SPSS converter achieves the soft-switching operation and the EMI noise can be reduced. The resonant capacitor voltage supplies to the resonant inductor even if the input AC voltage is the vicinity of zero cross voltage. Then, the power factor and input current waveform can be improved without delay time. A new driving circuit achieves the operation of SPSS converter by one switching drive circuit. The proposed converter can be satisfied the IEC standard sufficiently

  • An implementation scheme of the magnetic nerve stimulator using a switching mode power supply is proposed. By using a switching mode power supply rather than a conventional linear power supply for chArging high voltage cApacitors, the weight and size of the magnetic net've stimulator can be considerably reduced. Maximum output voltage of the developed magnetic nerve stimulator using the switching mode power supply is 3,000 volts and switching time is about 100 msec Experimental results of human nerve stimulations using the developed stimulator are presented.

  • We present a performance evaluation model of cell reassembly mechanism in an ATM switching system. An ATM switching system may be designed so that communications between processors of its control part can be performed via its switching network rather than a separate inter-processor communications network. In such a system, there should be interface to convert inter-processor communication traffic from message format to cell format and vice versa, that is, mechanisms to perform the segmentation and reassembly sublayer. In this paper, we employ a continuous-time Markov chain for the performance evaluation model of cell reassembly mechanism with individual buffering, judicially defining the states of the mechanism. Performance measures such as message loss probability and average reassembly delay are obtained in closed forms. Some numerical illustrations are given for the performance analysis and dimensioning of the cell reassembly mechanism.

  • Semi HPLC using a column switching technique was used to determine the trace content of vitamin B12 in various foods. Total analytical time required less than 20 mins per sample and the recovery ratio was 99.9, 99.6, 100.1 and 99.8% for 1.0, 10.0, 100.0 and 1,000 g/kg, respectively. The content of vitamin B12 in various foods obtained using column switching method showed higher levels compared to labels in dried milk(0.5 g/100g) and in grain products(0.51~34.36 g/100g). Thus, this column switching method was more sensitive, effective and precise than the microbiological analysis currently used to determine the trace compounds like a vitamin B12.

  • Silicon Carbide (SiC) power device possesses attractive features, such as high breakdown voltage, high-speed switching capability, and high temperature operation. In general, device design has a significant effect on the switching characteristics. In this paper, we report the effect of the P-base doping concentration ($N_{PBASE}$) on the transient characteristics of 4H-SiC DMOSFETs. By reducing $N_{PBASE}$, switching time also decreases, primarily due to the lowered channel resistance. It is found that improvement of switching speed in 4H-SiC DMOSFETs is essential to reduce the and channel resistance. Therefore, accurate modeling of the operating conditions are essential for the optimization of superior switching performance.

  • A three-dimensional constitutive model for polarization switching in ferroelectric materials is used to predict the formation of switching zones in an atomic force microscopy(AFM) tip/ferroelectric thin film/bottom electrode system via finite element simulation. Initially the ferrolectric film is poled upward and the bottom electrode is grounded. A strong dc field is imposed on a fixed point of the top surface of the film through the AFM tip. A small switching zone with downward polarization is nucleated and grows with time. It is found that initially the shape of the switched zone is that of a bulgy dagger, but later turn to the shape of a reversed cup with the lower part wider than the upper part. It can also be concluded that the size of switching zones increases with the period of applied electric potential. The present results are qualitatively consistent with experimental observations.

  • This paper proposed resource allocation algorithm for the minimum switching activity of functional unit in high level synthesis process as like DSP which is circuit to give many functional unit. The resource allocation method after scheduling use the power function calculating average hamming distance and switching activity of the between two input. First of all, the switching activity is calculated by the input value after calculating the average hamming distance between operation. In this paper, the proposed method though high If level simulation find switching activity in circuit each functional unit exchange for binary sequence length and value bit are logic one value. To use the switching activity find the allocation with minimal power consumption, the proposed method visits all control steps one by one and determines the allocation with minimal power consumption at each control step. As the existing method, the execution time can be fast according to use the number of operator and max control step. And it is the reduction effect from 6% to 8%.

  • Effects of carbon nanotube (CNT) on the in-plain switching (IPS) and fringe-field switching (FFS) modes were investigated. The studies show that the CNT-doped LC cells exhibit lower transmittance but faster response time than those in the pure LC cell. Interestingly, the CNT-doped IPS and FFS modes show different characteristic in effects of operating voltage.

  • This paper presents a new ZVS single phase bridgeless (Power Factor Correction) PFC, using an active clamp to achieve zero-voltage-switching for all main switches and diodes. Since the presented PFC uses a bridgeless rectifier, most of the time, only two semiconductor components are in the main current path, instead of three in conventional single-switch configurations. This property significantly reduces the conduction losses,. Moreover, zero voltage switching removes switching loss of all main switches and diodes. Also, auxiliary switch turns on zero current condition. The presented converter needs just a simple non-isolated gate drive circuitry to drive all switches. The eight stages of each switching period and the design considerations and a control strategy are explained. Finally, the converter operation is verified by simulation and experimental results.
