  • This paper introduces a novel concept of 'A Green LED Sensitivity Lighting System' which can automatically estimate QoS(quality of service) and emotional requirements of user using smart phone. And it can intelligently control ambient illumination lamp to conserve electric energy and to satisfy human sensitivity. The proposed system has 4 control modes; emotional lighting, smart lighting, green lighting and realistic lighting modes in order to comfort man's emotion, to maximize work efficiency, to save energy consumption and to make the entertainment more fun, respectively. When we choose green lighting mode for indoor office situations, an elaborate simulation shows that the proposed system with home network can reduce the energy by 50% compared to conventional light control system with a fixed time-based switching.

  • We demonstrated the nonvolatile memory functionality of nano-crystalline silicon (nc-Si) and InGaZnOxide (IGZO) thin film transistors (TFTs) using mobile protons that are generated by very short time hydrogen neutral beam (H-NB) treatment in gate insulator (SiO2). The whole memory fabrication process kept under $50^{\circ}C$ (except SiO2 deposition process; $300^{\circ}C$). These devices exhibited reproducible hysteresis, reversible switching, and nonvolatile memory behaviors in comparison with those of the conventional FET devices. We also executed hydrogen treatment in order to figure out the difference of mobile proton generation between PECVD and H-NB CVD that we modified. Our study will further provide a vision of creating memory functionality and incorporating proton-based storage elements onto a probability of next generation flexible memorable electronics such as low power consumption flexible display panel.

  • This paper describes an optimal scheduling for ice slurry systems for energy cost saving. The optimization technique applied in the study is the dynamic programming method, for which the state variable is the storage in the ice storage tank and the control variable is the state of chiller's on-off switching. Though the costs during charge period is included in optimization by taking the average cost of ice per hour for slurry making, the time horizon for the simulation is limited building cooling period because accurate charge rate from the ice maker into the ice storage tank cannot be estimated during the charge period. In the operating simulation after optimizing procedure, energy consumption and operating cost for the optimal control are calculated and compared with them for a conventional control with one case of cooling load profile.

  • This paper describes a novel concept of a chemically sensitive scanning force microscope (CS-SFM). It consists of the conventional SFM and the time-of-flight mass spectrometer (TOF-MS). A switchable cantilever (SC) fabricated by the micromachining technology combines each advantage of two completely different systems, SFM and TOF-MS. The CS-SFM offers to produce both images of topography and chemical information simultaneously. First we employed a rotatable tip holder based on 4 piezotube actuators for demonstration of the possibility of the CS-SFM concept. Second the CS-SFM concept is optimized with the micromachining technology. The micromachined SC with an integrated bimorph actuator and a piezoresistive strain sensor provides a reasonable switching speed of ${\sim}10$ ms which is very attractive for the CS-SFM application. The SC is currently being integrated in an ultra-high-vacuum system to perform various experiments.

  • Miniature BLDC is widely used in industrial applications and especially medical appliances because of there character that high driving efficiency and high torque characteristic. However torque ripple of a high speed miniature BLDC is serous in switching period cue to the very electrical time constant. This paper present instant voltage and current control for torque ripple reduction of a high speed miniature BLDC. Computer simulation and experiment test for 40,000 rpm miniature BLDC show the verification of the proposed control method.

  • Multi rate circuit switching ISDN which assumes a star topology consisting of LANs(local area networks) interconnected through a backbone MAN (metropolitan area network) is considered. The stations are classified into two categories data and voice stations they are characterized by different arrival rate and session-length (holding time) statistics. We first model the data and voice terminals as finite-source stations and derive analytically exact expressions for the end-to-end blocking probabilities. For more exact evaluation, these probabilities are calculated in terms of three components:circuit blocking probability, destination busy probability and concurrent busy probability. For large size systems, we develop an develop an iterative algorithm that provides a computationally efficient and fast method for the calculation of the end-to-end blocking probabilities.

  • In this paper we describe the method of optimum design for high-speed solenoid valve with fast switching time. The method of mathematical analysis adopted in this paper is that of using the permeance variation in the solenoid. And the effects of design particulars are investigated by simulation experiments. On the basis of experimental results we obtain the effective value of design parameter for high-speed solenoid valve.

  • A CMOS transmitter ASIC for the ATM switching system etc., was designed to transmit 155.52 Mbps serial data transformed from 19.44 Mbps parallel data. 155.52 MHz clock for synchronization of data is genrated using reference 19.44 MHz clock by an analog PLL while parallel to serial data conversion is done by a digital circuit. Circuit simulations confirm that PLL locking and data conversion are accomplished successfully. The area of the designed ASIC chip is 1.3${\times}1.0mm^2$. The locking time and the power consumption of the chip are about 600 nsec and less than 150 mW, respectively.

  • This paper describes a high power resonant inverter for diagnostic X-ray generators using zero-voltage soft-switching technology. The system consists of a step-down chopper, a resonant phase-shift PWM inverter, a hihg-voltage diode, and high voltage cables a smoothing DC capacitor. The inverter makes use the leakage inductance of the hihg-voltage transformer and external capacitor as resonant components. The rectified input voltage is controlled by a step-down chopper with input voltage compensator. The output regualtion is obtained by a resonant phase-shift PWM inverter with the digital feedback controller using DSP (digital signal processor), resulting in fast rising time and wide output voltage variation. The theoretical results are correlated with results from an experimental prototype of a 7-kVp, 300mA (21kW).

  • In this paper, three-phase PWM AC to DC boost converter that operates with unity power factor and sinusodial input line currents is presented. The current control of this converter is based on the space vector PWM strategy with fixed switching frequency and the line currents track to reference currents within one sampling time interval. By using this control strategy low ripples in the outut current and the voltage as well as fast dynamic response are achieved with small dc link cpacitance employed.
