This paper presents a new locomotion mode recognition method based on a transformed correlation feature analysis using an electromyography (EMG) pattern. Each movement is recognized using six weighted subcorrelation filters, which are applied to the correlation feature analysis through the use of six time-domain features. The proposed method has a high recognition rate because it reflects the importance of the different features according to the movements and thereby enables one to recognize real-time EMG patterns, owing to the rapid execution of the correlation feature analysis. The experiment results show that the discriminating power of the proposed method is 85.89% (${\pm}2.5$) when walking on a level surface, 96.47% (${\pm}0.9$) when going up stairs, and 96.37% (${\pm}1.3$) when going down stairs for given normal movement data. This makes its accuracy and stability better than that found for the principal component analysis and linear discriminant analysis methods.

In the research of speech recognition, locating the beginning and end of a speech utterance in a background of noise is of great importance. The conventional methods for speech endpoint detection are based on two simple time-domain measurements-short-time energy, and short-time zero-crossing rate, which couldn't guarantee the precise results if in the low signal-to-noise ratio environments. This paper proposes a novel approach that finds the Lyapunov exponent of time-domain waveform. This proposed method has no use for obtaining the frequency-domain parameters for endpoint detection process, e.g. Mel-Scale Features, which have been introduced in other paper. Accordingly, this algorithm is low complexity and suitable for Digital Isolated Word Recognition System.

Ultra-wideband communication systems based on impulse radio have merits that are possible for the high data rate transmission, high resolution ranging are positioning system. Conventionally, in order to accomplish these features, the high-speed ADC (Analog to Digital Convertor) is necessary to apply radio determination system operating in time domain. However, considering low rate - wireless personal area network (LR-WPAN) aims to low-cost hardware implementation, the expensive ADC converting GHz sampling per second is not appropriate. So, this paper introduces a low complex AR (Auto Regressive) model based non-coherent ranging scheme operating in frequency domain with using low-speed ADC utilizing analog Voltage Control Oscillator (VCO) mode for the frequency domain transformation. To verify the superiority of the proposed ranging and location algorithm working in frequency domain, the suggested IEEE 802.15.4a TG channel model is used to exploit affirmative features of the proposed algorithm with conducting the simulation results.
The dynamic structural responses are sensitive to the time-frequency content of seismic waves, and seismic input motions in time-history analysis are usually required to be compatible with design response spectra according to nuclear codes. In order to generate spectra-compatible input motions while maintaining the intrinsic non-stationarity of seismic waves, an improved time-domain approach is proposed in this paper. To maintain the nonstationary characteristics of the given seismic waves, a new time-frequency envelope function is constructed using the Hilbert amplitude spectrum. Based on the intrinsic mode functions (IMFs) obtained from given seismic waves through variational mode decomposition, a new corrective time history is constructed to locally modify the given seismic waves. The proposed corrective time history and time-frequency envelope function are unique for each earthquake records as they are extracted from the given seismic waves. In addition, a dimension reduction iterative technique is presented herein to simultaneously superimpose corrective time histories of all the damping ratios at a specific frequency in the time domain according to optimal weights, which are found by the genetic algorithm (GA). Examples are presented to show the capability of the proposed approach in generating spectra-compatible time histories, especially in maintaining the nonstationary characteristics of seismic records. And numerical results reveal that the modified time histories generated by the proposed method can obtain similar dynamic behaviors of AP1000 nuclear power plant with the natural seismic records. Thus, the proposed method can be efficiently used in the design practices.

The study of magnetic properties of ferro and ferri-magnetic materials has shown that, due to their different time constants, magnetisation mechanisms (domain wall displacement, spin rotation and wall bulging) can be separated by using the complex permeability formalisms, they exhibit characteristic features in $\mu$′ versus $\mu$" plots. In many cases. the elements (inductances, resistances and capacitances) of the equivalent circuit representing the friquency behaviour, can also be associated with physical parameters of the sample [1-3]. In a different approach, domain wall dynamics can be represented by a motion equation with mass, damping and restoring force terms [4]. In this paper, we show that these two approaches are consistent and how they are related.

This paper presents a method of detection localized defects on tapered roller bearing in main spindle of machine tool system. The feature vectors, i.e. statistical parameters, in time-domain analysis technique have been calculated to extract useful features from acoustic emission signals. These feature vectors are used as the input feature of an neural network to classify and detect bearing defects. As a results, the detection of bearing defect conditions could be sucessfully performed by using an neural network with statistical parameters of acoustic emission signals.
Installing floating structures in a coastal area requires careful observation of the finite-depth effect. In this paper, a Rankine panel method that includes the finite-depth effect is developed in the time domain. The bottom boundary condition is satisfied by directly distributing Rankine panels on the bottom surface. A stepwise analysis is performed for the radiation diffraction problems and consequently freely-floating motion responses over different water depths. The hydrodynamic properties of two test hulls, a Series 60 and a floating barge, are compared to the results from another computation program for validation purposes. The results for both hulls change remarkably as the water depth becomes shallower. The important features of the results are addressed and the effects of a finite depth are discussed.

Recent icebreaking ships need to be designed to enhance not only icebreaking capability but also turning ability. For the evaluation of ice resistance induced by an icebreaking hull form, HHI (Hyundai Heavy Industries) has developed the hybrid empirical formulas (Park et al., 2015) by considering the geometrical hull shape features, such as waterline and underwater sections. However, the empirical formulas have inherent limits to the precise estimation of the icebreaking and turning ability because the breaking process and the resulting pattern are ignored. For this reason, numerical calculation in time domain is performed to predict the icebreaking process and pattern. In the simulation, varying crushing stress according to velocity vectors and contact areas between hull and ice is newly introduced. Moreover, the simulation results were verified by comparing them with the model test results for three different bow-first icebreaking models.
Blind mismatch correction of time-interleaved analog-to-digital converters (TI-ADC) is a challenging task. We present a practical blind calibration technique for low-computation, low-complexity, and high-resolution applications. Its key features are: dramatically reduced computation; simple hardware; guaranteed parameter convergence with an arbitrary number of TI-ADC channels and most real-life input signals, with no bandwidth limitation; multiple Nyquist zone operation; and mixed-domain error correction. The proposed technique is experimentally verified by an M = 4 400 MSPS TI-ADC system. In a single-tone test, the proposed practical blind calibration technique suppressed mismatch spurs by 70 dB to 90 dB below the signal tone across the first two Nyquist zones (10 MHz to 390 MHz). A wideband signal test also confirms the proposed technique.

Traffic congestions are rapidly increasing in urban areas. In order to reduce these problems, it needs real-time data and intelligent techniques to quickly identify traffic activities with useful information. This paper proposes a Fuzzy Domain Ontology(FDO)-based opinion mining system to monitor the transportation network in real-time as well to make a city polarity map for travelers. The proposed system retrieves tweets and reviews related to transportation activities and a city. The feature opinions are extracted from these tweets and reviews and then used FDO to identify transportation and city features polarity. This FDO and intelligent prototype are developed using $Prot{\acute{e}}g{\acute{e}}$ OWL (Web Ontology Language) and JAVA, respectively. The experimental result shows satisfactory improvement in tweets and review's analyzing and opinion mining.
