  • Since the internet is intend to be the best effort service, the system that stream a large amount of high quality medias need a techniques to overcome the network status for implementation. In this paper, we design and implement a method that estimate quickly whether network permits the needed bandwidth of media and a method that control QoS through that. Presented system uses Relative One-Way Delay(ROWD) trend in the case of the former, and leverages temporal encoding among Scalable Video Coding(SVC) that is apt to apply real time comparatively in the case of the latter. The streaming server classifies the medias by real time to several rates and begins transmission from top-level and is reported ROWD trend periodically from the client. In case of the server reported only 'Increase Trend', the sever decides that the current media exceeds the available bandwidth and downgrades the next media level. The system uses probe packet of difference quantity of the target level and the present level for upgrading the media level. In case of the server reported only 'No Increase Trend' by the ROWD trend response of the probe packet from client, the media level is upgraded. The experiment result in a fiber to the home(FTTH) environment shows progress that proposed system adapts faster in change of available bandwidth and shows that quality of service also improves.

  • DVC(Distributed Video Coding) techniques have been attracting a lot of research works since these enable us to implement the light-weight video encoder and to provide good coding efficiency by introducing the feedback channel. However, the feedback channel causes the decoder to increase the decoding complexity and requires very high decoding latency because of numerous iterative decoding processes. So, in order to reduce the decoding delay and then to implement in a real-time environment, this paper proposes several parity bit estimation methods which are based on the temporal correlation, spatial correlation and spatio-temporal correlations between LDPCA frames on each bit plane in the consecutive video frames in pixel-domain Wyner-Ziv video coding scheme and then the performances of these methods are compared in fast DVC scheme. Through computer simulations, it is shown that the adaptive spatio-temporal correlation-based estimation method and the temporal correlation-based estimation method outperform others for the video frames with the highly active contents and the low active contents, respectively. By using these results, the proposed estimation schemes will be able to be effectively used in a variety of different applications.

  • Most of the way shape estimation method using reference sources assume that the reference sources are in the farfield. That is, the reference sources are assumed to be far from the array. However, in applications of the array with reference sources, the reference sources are not far from the way, so that in practical ocean environments, the conventional method using farfield source model fail to estimate the positions of the hydrophones. In this paper, based on the nearfield source model, a subspace-based array shape estimation method was proposed. In the proposed method, nearfield reference source is modeled using the differential time delay at each hydrophone, and nearfield parameters are derived. Using these parameters, a subspace-based array shape estimation method that generalizes the existing farfield subspace fitting method which can work regardless of the range of the source is proposed. The Cramer-Rao lower bound for the proposed method is investigated. The results of the numerical experiments indicate that the proposed method performs well in estimating the shape of a perturbed way regardless of the ranges of the reference sources.

  • In this paper, we propose a new symbol offset estimation technique for an orthogonal frequency-division multiplexing (OFDM)-based wireless LAN. When both inter-symbol interference (ISI) and inter-channel interference (ICI) do not exist in an OFDM symbol, symbol offsets cause circular shifts in the estimated channel impulse response (CIR) by the amount of symbol offset. Also, the power delay profile of a typical multipath wireless channel can be modeled by exponentially decaying function, and most energy of multipath channel is concentrated at the beginning part of the CIR. Based on these properties, the proposed symbol offset estimation technique estimates the CIR, which is circularly shifted by the amount of symbol offset, and then calculates the partial mean power from the estimated impulse response by using a moving window with a finite length. And, symbol offset can be estimated from the index of a moving window having the maximal partial mean power. The proposed technique can reduce noise effect in the process of the CIR estimation, and remove ISI and ICI using repetitive training symbol structure in time-domain for minimum training overhead. The performances of the proposed symbol offset estimation technique in typical indoor channels are demonstrated by computer simulation.

  • The neural dynamics underlying the causal network during motor planning or imagery in the human brain are not well understood. The lack of signal processing tools suitable for the analysis of nonlinear and nonstationary electroencephalographic (EEG) hinders such analyses. In this study, noise-assisted multivariate empirical mode decomposition (NA-MEMD) is used to estimate the causal inference in the frequency domain, i.e., partial directed coherence (PDC). Natural and intrinsic oscillations corresponding to the motor imagery tasks can be extracted due to the data-driven approach of NA-MEMD, which does not employ predefined basis functions. Simulations based on synthetic data with a time delay between two signals demonstrated that NA-MEMD was the optimal method for estimating the delay between two signals. Furthermore, classification analysis of the motor imagery responses of 29 subjects revealed that NA-MEMD is a prerequisite process for estimating the causal network across multichannel EEG data during mental tasks.

  • PURPOSES : The objective of this study is to find Percentile Speed($V_p$) for Appraisal of Road Section with Recurring Congestion. METHODS : Percentile Speed($V_p$) is determined by correlation analysis of CSI that proposed existing literature. and CSI(Consistency Service Index) is a index that subtract service fail frequency from 100 points, and service fail is defined as traffic situation is driving less than 80kph speed. In this study, We analyzed the highest correlation percentile speed associated with CSI. This speed is chosen as a delay decision speed. In order to verifying reliability, it performed a comparison with the previous method. RESULTS : As a result, 30 percentile speed($V_{30}$) was decided as index speed for judgement of recurring congestion section, and through comparison with existing methods, we demonstrated that 30 percentile speed can be useful for judgement of recurring congestion section. CONCLUSIONS : This method to Determine recurring congestion section using the percentile speed($V_{30}$) was proposed for the first time in this paper. This method can be applicated more quickly and easily than existing method for determining of recurring delay section.

  • The radio signal in GNSS was intentionally designed with two frequencies in order to combat the dispersion error caused by trans-ionospheric propagation. By measuring the path delay independently at the two, widely spaced GPS frequencies, L1 & L2, the TEC along the path from satellite to receiver can be measured directly. The issue with dual frequency measurement of the ionosphere is the calibration of L1/L2 interfrequency biases. L1/L2 interfrequency biases are generated because physical electric signal paths of L1 and L2 circuits are different from each other for both satellites and receiver. Conventionally L1/L2 interfrequency bias is estimated and broadcasted by 2D ionospheric model. In this paper, we estimated IFB (interfrequency bias) by 2D & 3D ionospheric models including real time filter methods and compared the result of those and concluded the merit of 3D tomography model to recover the problem of 2D thin shell model. We confirmed our conclusion by experimental data.

  • Sound source localization systems in service robot applications estimate the direction of a human voice. Time delay information obtained from a few separate microphones is widely used for the estimation of the sound direction. Correlation is computed in order to calculate the time delay between two signals. Inverse cosine is used when the position of the maximum correlation value is converted to an angle. Because of nonlinear characteristic of inverse cosine, the accuracy of the computed angle is varied depending on the position of the specific sound source. In this paper, we propose an efficient sound source localization system using angle division. By the proposed approach, the region from $0^{\circ}$ to $180^{\circ}$ is divided into three regions and we consider only one of the three regions. Thus considerable amount of computation time is saved. Also, the accuracy of the computed angle is improved since the selected region corresponds to the linear part of the inverse cosine function. By simulations, it is shown that the error of the proposed algorithm is only 31% of that of the conventional a roach.

  • In this paper, we proposed an algorithm to estimate the desired target in wideband jamming signal environment. In order to suppress the jamming signal, we use the spatial time adaptive algorithm and QR decomposition to obtain the optimal weight. The spatial time adaptive algorithm of adaptive array antenna system multiplies the tap delay signal by a complex weight to obtain a weight. In order to minimize the power consumption because of the inverse matrix, optimal weight is obtained by using QR decomposition. Through simulation, we compare and analyze the performance of the proposed algorithm and the existing algorithm. In the target estimation of [-40o,0o,+40o], the proposed algorithm estimated all three targets, but the existing algorithm estimated only [0o] due to of the jamming signal. We prove that the proposed algorithm improves performance by removing the jamming signal and estimating the target accurately.

  • In an OFDM (Orthogonal Frequency-Division Multiplexing) system, the sampling frequency offset between the transmitter and receiver is known to cause the interchannel interference (ICI), resulting in performance degradation. In this paper, we propose two time-domain techniques to estimate the sampling frequency offset, especially for a high data-rate OFDM system. The first technique estimates the sampling frequency offset by using the phase difference between two received samples with a fixed amount of time interval, corresponding to the transmitted training symbol, under the assumption of perfect symbol and carrier offset synchronization. The second technique estimates the sampling frequency offset and carrier frequency offset jointly, when the two offsets exist together, by using two training symbols with different frequency components and using a sample algebraic calculation. The proposed estimation techniques for sampling frequency offset cause no time delay due to all time-domain processing, and have a good performance due to no ICI effect. The performances of the proposed techniques are demonstrated by various simulations.
