The purpose of this study was to determine the variability of components of the vertical ground reaction force signal to seek the suitable number of attempt datum to be analyzed during running at 2m/s and 4m/s. For this study, six subjects (height mean:$174.5{\pm}4.4cm$, weight $671.5{\pm}116.4N.$, age:$25.0{\pm}yrs.$) were selected and asked to run at least 3 times each run condition randomly. FFT(fast Fourier transform) was used to analyze the frequency domain analysis of the vertical ground reaction forces signal and an accumulated PSD (power spectrum density) was calculated to reconstruct the certain signal. To examine the deviation of the vertical ground reaction between signals collected from an different number of attempt, variability of frequency, magnitude of passive peak, time up to the passive peak and maximum load rate were determined in a coefficient of variance. The variability analysis revealed that when analyze the vertical reaction force components at 2m/s speed running, which belongs to slow pace relatively, it would be good to calculate these components from signal of one attempt, but 4m/s speed running needs data collected from two attempts to decrease the deviation of signal between attempts. In summary, when analyzing the frequency and passive peak of the vertical reaction force signal during the fast run, it should be considered the number of attempt.
In the complex terrain where local wind systems are formed, accurate understanding of regional wind variability is required for wind resource assessment. In this paper, cluster analysis based on the similarity of time-series wind vector was applied to classify wind regions with similar wind characteristics and the meteorological validity of regionalization method was evaluated. Wind regions in Jeju Island and Busan were classified using the wind resource map of Korea created by a mesoscale numerical weather prediction modeling. The evaluation was performed by comparing wind speed, wind direction, and wind variability of each wind region. Wind characteristics, such as mean wind speed and prevailing wind direction, in the same wind region were similar and wind characteristics in different wind regions were meteor-statistically distinct. It was able to identify a singular wind region at the top area of Mt. Halla using the inconsistency of wind direction variability. Furthermore, it was found that the regionalization results correspond with the topographic features of Jeju Island and Busan, showing the validity.
This study compared the effect of green light consequent on maximum brightness 85 lx and intial brightness 15 lx, and its accompanying psychological, physiological response. 1) As a result of psychology(general stress evaluation, Symptom Checklist-90-Revision) evaluation, all stress evaluation items mostly showed a decrease, and they are comparatively positively evaluated in minimum brightness 15 lx comparing to maximum brightness 85 lx. 2) Physiological (Heart Rate Variability) evaluation result was included in stable range in all cardiovascular system variables after light stimulus in time of comparison with the standard range; in addition, the Heart Rate Variability evaluation result was found to be stable in all cardiovascular system variables except Low Frequency in minimum brightness 15 lx comparing to maximum brightness 85 lx. 3) Green light was found not to appear as a stimulating factor in the human body in time of space projection, being found to be effective in stability of mind and body, and reduction in stress. Thus, it was found that green light functioned as an emotional, relaxing tranquilizer by working on the sympathetic nervous system.
We show the results of a time series analysis of the long-term light curves of four blazars. 3C 279, 3C 345, 3C 446, and BL Lacertae. We used densely sampled light curves spanning 32 years at three frequency bands (4.8, 8, 14.5 GHz), provided by the University of Michigan Radio Astronomy Observatory monitoring program. The spectral indices of our sources are mostly flat or inverted (-0.5 < ${\alpha}$ < 0), which is consistent with optically thick emission. Strong variability was seen in all light curves on various time scales. From the analyses of time lags between the light curves from different frequency bands and the evolution of the spectral indices with time, we find that we can distinguish high-peaking flares and low-peaking flares according to the Valtaoja et al. classification. The periodograms (temporal power spectra) of the light curves are in good agreement with random-walk power-law noise without any indication of (quasi-)periodic variability. We note that random-walk noise light curves can originate from multiple shocks in jets. The fact that all our sources are in agreement with being random-walk noise emitters at radio wavelengths suggests that such behavior is a general property of blazars. We are going to generalize our approach by applying our methodology to a much larger blazar sample in the near future.
In this paper, we consider the aortic sinus baroreceptor, which is the most representative baroreceptor sensing the variance of pressure in the cardiovascular system, and propose heart activity control model to observe the effect of delay time in heart period and stroke volume under the regulation of baroreflex in the aortic sinus. The proposed heart activity baroreflex regulation model contains electric circuit sub-model. We constituted the time delay sub-model to observe sensitivity of heart activity baroreflex regulation model by using the variable value to represent the control signal transmission time from the output of baroreflex regulation model to efferent nerve through central nervous system. The simulation object of this model is to observe variability of the cardiovascular system by variable value in time delay sub-model. As simulation results, we observe three patterns of the cardiovascular system variability by the time delay, First, if the time delay over 2.5 second, aortic pressure and stroke volume and heart rate is observed nonperiodically and observed. Finally, if time delay under 0.1 second, then heart rate and aortic pressure-heart rate trajectory is maintained in stable state.
Objective: Parturition is crucial for dams, their calves, and cow managers. The prediction of calving time, which assists cow managers to decide on the relocation of cows to maternity pens and necessity of human supervision, is a pivotal aspect of livestock farming. However, existing methods of predicting calving time in dairy cows based on hormonal changes and clinical symptoms are time-consuming and yield unreliable predictions. Accordingly, we investigated whether heart rate variability (HRV) which is a non-invasive assessment of autonomic nervous system (ANS) activity and behavior during the prepartum period would be useful for predicting calving time in dairy cows. Methods: Eight pregnant cows were surveilled under electrocardiogram and video recordings for HRV and behavioral analyses, respectively. HRV parameters in time and frequency domains were evaluated. A 24-h time budget was calculated for each of six types of behavior (standing and lying with or without rumination, sleeping, and eating). Results: Heart rate on calving day is considerably higher than those recorded on the days preceding calving. Low frequency power declined, whereas high frequency power escalated on the calving day compared to the period between 24 and 48 h before calving. The time budget for ruminating while lying decreased and that while standing increased markedly on the calving day compared to those allocated on the preceding days; nonetheless, the total time budget for ruminating did not differ during the prepartum period. Conclusion: We elucidated the ANS activity and behavioral profiles during prepartum period. Our results confirm that HRV parameters and behavior are useful for predicting calving time, and interestingly indicate that the time budget for ruminating while standing (or lying) may serve as a valuable predictor of calving. Collectively, our findings lay the foundation for future investigations to determine other potential predictors and formulate an algorithm for predicting calving time.
Time series of gridded surface wind and wind-stress vectors over the world ocean have been constructed by satellite scatterometer data. The products are derived from the ERS-l,2 covering 9 years during 1992-2000 and the Sea Winds on board QuikSCAT (Qscat) which has been operating up to the present since June 1999, so they allows us to analyze variabilities with various time scales. In this study, we focus on interannual variability of the wind stress in the mid- and high-latitude region of North Pacific. These are compared with those by numerical weather prediction(NWP) ones (NCEP Reanalysis). We also examine variability in the wind-stress curl field that is an important factor for ocean dynamics and focus its time and spatial characters in the northwestern Pacific around Japan. It is found that the vorticity field in the lower atmosphere tends to increase gradually with time, suggesting the enhancement of the North Pacific subtropical gyre.
This paper is concerned with the stochastic nature of elevated temperature tensile strength and creep rupture time in 18Cr-8Ni stainless steels. The Weibull statistical analysis using the NRIM data sheet has been performed to investigate the effects of variability of the elevated temperature tensile strength and creep rupture time on the testing temperature. From those investigations, the distributions of temperature tensile strength and creep rupture time were well followed in 2-parameter Weibull. The shape parameter and scale parameter for the Weibull distribution of tensile strength were decreased with increasing the testing temperature. For the creep rupture time, generally, the shape parameter were decreased with increasing the testing temperature.
This paper is to find out more reliable analyzing method of heart rate variability. Heart rate variability analysis is to evaluate cardiovascular stability and also have used as an indicator of autonomic nervous system activity. In this study, time domain analysis, spectral analysis and state space analysis method are applied to analyze heart rate variability. Because of nonlinear characteristics of heart rate, we need not only spectral analysis, but also state space analysis. Fractal dimension of spectral estimation is useful indicator of autonomic nervous activity.

Eight years of SeaWiFS data quantify variability in the time/space patterns of spring bloom development in the Gulf of Maine (GOM). Maximum and earliest spring bloom are usually observed over Georges Bank, later on the deep basins from the west to the east GOM, and latest development along the eastern Maine coast in cold, tidally mixed water. Pronounced interannual variability of spring bloom timing, spatial position, and magnitude are shown in the GOM. Strongest negative anomalies are present in April 1998 and 2001 over Georges Bank and the eastern GOM, and in January to April of 2005 over the most of GOM. Positive anomalies are strong in April 2001, 2003 and 2004 in varying locations as well as in February and March 1999. It is suggested that interannaul variability in spring phytoplankton bloom concentrations is strongly associated with changes in water mass and stratification which might be influenced by basin-scale forcing due to large climate change.
