Adaptive Parallel Decomposition for Multidisciplinary Design

  • The conceptual design of a rotorcraft system involves many different analysis disciplines. The decomposition of such a system into several subsystems can make analysis and design more efficient in terms of the total computation time. Adaptive parallel decomposition makes the structure of the overall design problem suitable to apply the multidisciplinary design optimization methodologies and it can exploit parallel computing. This study proposes a decomposition method which adaptively determines the number and sequence of analyses in each sub-problem corresponding to the available number of processors in parallel. A rotorcraft design problem is solved and as a result, the adaptive parallel decomposition method shows better performance than other previous methods for the selected design problem.

Proportional Fair Scheduling Algorithm in OFDMA-Based Wireless Systems with QoS Constraints

  • In this work we consider the problem of downlink resource allocation for proportional fairness of long term received rates of data users and quality of service for real time sessions in an OFDMA-based wireless system. The base station allocates available power and subchannels to individual users based on long term average received rates, quality of service (QoS) based rate constraints and channel conditions. We formulate and solve a joint bandwidth and power optimization problem, solving which provides a performance improvement with respect to existing resource allocation algorithms. We propose schemes for flat as well as frequency selective fading cases. Numerical evaluation results show that the proposed method provides better QoS to voice and video sessions while providing more and fair rates to data users in comparison with existing schemes.

  • 본 논문에서는 전력망 연계형 마이크로그리드의 분산에너지자원을 위한 에너지관리시스템의 구조에 대해 서술한다. 전력망 연계형 마이크로그리드의 분산에너지자원 에너지관리시스템은 분산에너지자원들의 상태나 시간대별 차등요금제와 같은 마이크로그리드 내외의 각종 정보들을 다양한 프로토콜들을 통해 수집한다. 에너지관리시스템은 수집한 정보들을 바탕으로 예측과 최적화 계산을 수행하고, 전기요금 절감이라는 마이크로그리드 최적운영 목표를 달성할 수 있도록 분산에너지자원들의 운전 스케줄을 도출한다. 최적운영 달성을 위하여 에너지관리시스템은 내부적으로 효과적 스케줄 도출을 위한 알고리즘을 포함하고 있어야하며, 도출한 스케줄을 외부의 분산에너지자원에 전달할 수 있는 프로토콜을 갖추어야 한다. 예측 과정에서 발생하는 실제와의 오차를 줄이기 위하여 에너지관리시스템은 rolling horizon controller로 작동한다. 도출된 운전 스케줄은 국제표준프로토콜을 통하여 실시간으로 분산에너지자원에 전달되어 마이크로그리드 최적운영을 가능하도록 한다.

CPS: Operating System Architecture for Efficient Network Resource Management with Control-Theoretic Packet Scheduler

  • The efficient network resource management is one of the important topics in a real-time system. In this paper, we present a practical network resource management framework, control-theoretic packet scheduler (CPS) system. Using our framework, an operating system can schedule both input and output streams accurately and efficiently. Our framework adopts very portable feedback control theory for efficiency and accuracy. The CPS system is able to operate independent of the internal network protocol state, and it is designed to schedule packet streams in fine-grained time intervals to meet the resource requirement. This approach simplifies the design of the CPS system, and leads us to obtain the intended output bandwidth. We implemented our prototype system in Linux, and measured the performance of the network resource management system under various network QoS constraints. The distinctive features of our principles are as follows: It is robust and accurate, and its operation is independent of internal network protocols.

실시간 유비쿼터스 환경에서 센서 데이터 처리를 위한 대기시간 산출 알고리즘 (Queuing Time Computation Algorithm for Sensor Data Processing in Real-time Ubiquitous Environment)

  • 실시간 유비쿼터스 환경은 센서로부터 얻어낸 데이터를 기반으로 상황을 인지하고 사용자에게 적절한 반응을 보이기까지 제한된 시간 내에 모든 것을 처리해야 한다. 전체적인 센서 데이터 처리는 센서로부터의 자료 확보, 상황 정보의 획득, 그리고 사용자로의 반응이라고 하는 과정을 거친다. 즉, 유비쿼터스 컴퓨팅 미들웨어는 입력된 센서 자료 및 데이터베이스 또는 지식베이스로부터 일련의 자료들을 활용하여 상황을 인식하며, 그 상황에 적합한 반응을 하게 된다. 그런데 실시간 환경의 특징 상 센서데이터가 들어오면 각 가용 자원들을 검색하고 그 곳에 있는 미들웨어가 데이터를 처리 할 경우 어느 정도의 대기 시간이 필요한지를 결정해야 한다. 또한 센서 데이터 처리의 우선순위가 높을 때는 미들웨어가 현재 처리중인 데이터를 언제 처리를 중지하고 얼마나 대기시켜야 하는지도 결정해야 한다. 그러나 이러한 의사결정에 대한 연구는 아직 활발하지 않다. 따라서 본 논문에서는 유비쿼터스 미들웨어가 이미 센서 데이터를 처리하고 있고 동시에 새로운 센서 데이터를 처리해야 할 때 각 작업의 최적 대기시간을 계산하고 스케줄링하는 알고리즘을 제안한다.

사출성형 공정에서의 통합정비방법에 관한 연구 (An Integrated Maintenance in Injection Molding Processes)

  • Recently as the manufacturers want competitiveness in dynamically changing environment, they are trying a lot of efforts to be efficient with their production systems, which may be achieved by diminishing unplanned operation stops. The operation stops and maintenance cost are known to be significantly decreased by adopting proper maintenance strategy. Therefore, the manufacturers were more getting interested in scheduling of exact maintenance scheduling to keep smooth operation and prevent unexpected stops. In this paper, we proposedan integrated maintenance approach in injection molding manufacturing line. It consists of predictive and preventive maintenance approach. The predictive maintenance uses the statistical process control technique with the real-time data and the preventive maintenance is based on the checking period of machine components or equipment. For the predictive maintenance approach, firstly, we identified components or equipment that are required maintenance, and then machine parameters that are related with the identified components or equipment. Second, we performed regression analysis to select the machine parameters that affect the quality of the manufactured products and are significant to the quality of the products. By this analysis, we can exclude the insignificant parameters from monitoring parameters and focus on the significant parameters. Third, we developed the statistical prediction models for the selected machine parameters. Current models include regression, exponential smoothing and so on. We used these models to decide abnormal patternand to schedule maintenance. Finally, for other components or equipment which is not covered by predictive approach, we adoptedpreventive maintenance approach. To show feasibility we developed an integrated maintenance support system in LabView Watchdog Agent and SQL Server environment and validated our proposed methodology with experimental data.

Link-16에서 이미지 전송을 위한 신뢰성 기반의 동적 TDMA 기법과 새로운 패킹 방법 (Reliable Dynamic TDMA Scheme with new Packing method for Image Transmission over Link-16)

  • Link-16은 가장 널리 사용 중인 전술데이터링크로써 TDMA(Time Division Multiple Access)를 기반으로 동작한다. Link-16은 안정적이지만 전송 속도가 매우 낮아 전술 메시지, 음성 등 작은 사이즈의 데이터 전송을 지원한다. 그러나 최근 효과중심작전(EBO: Effect-Based Operation)에 대한 관심이 증가하면서, Link-16을 통해 이미지와 같은 상황 인식 정보를 전송하려는 동향이 있다. 이미지는 기존 메시지에 비해 크기가 매우 크기 때문에 Link-16의 Static TDMA가 아닌 별도의 TDMA 스케줄링이 필요하다. 따라서 본 논문에서는 Link-16의 MAC을 진화시킨 Link-16K를 제안하였다. Link-16K는 Link-16과 호환성을 유지한다. 그리고 이미지 전송을 효과적으로 지원하기 위해 DTDMA(Dynamic TDMA), 새로운 재전송 방법, 새로운 패킹 방법을 포함한다. 제안하는 아이디어의 시뮬레이션 결과를 통해 이미지 전송 시간이 단축되었고, 채널 효율성이 높아졌음을 확인하였다.

고신뢰도 안전등급 제어기기 개발 (Development of the High Reliable Safety PLC for the Nuclear Power Plants)

  • This paper presents the design of the Safety Programmable Logic Controller (SPLC) used in the Nuclear Power Plants, an analysis of a reliability for the SPLC using a markov model. The architecture of the SPLC is designed to have the multiple modular redundancy composed of the Dual Modular Redundancy(DMR) and the Triple Modular Redundancy(TMR). The operating system of the SPLC is designed to have the non-preemptive state based scheduler and the supervisory task managing the sequential scheduling, timing of tasks, diagnostic and security. The data communication of the SPLC is designed to have the deterministic state based protocol, and is designed to satisfy the effective transmission capacity of 20Mbps. Using Markov model, the reliability of SPLC is analyzed, and assessed. To have the reasonable reliability such as the mean time to failure (MTTF) more than 10,000 hours, the failure rate of each SPLC module should be less than $2{\times}10^{-5}$/hour. When the fault coverage factor (FCF) is increased by 0.1, the MTTF is improved by about 4 months, thus to enhance the MTTF effectively, it is needed that the diagnostic ability of each SPLC module should be strengthened. Also as the result of comparison the SPLC and the existing safety grade PLCs, the reliability and MTTF of SPLC is up to 1.6-times and up to 22,000 hours better than the existing PLCs.

공항 운영 효율성 향상을 위한 보안검색 프로세스 개선 및 스마트 공항 프레임워크 설계 (Airport Security Process Improving for Advanced Operation and Smart Airport Framework Design)

  • The airport processes are restricted by some limits of performance objects as size of airport, ability of human resources, capacity of facilities and operational rules. These limitations make passenger handling difficult when passenger numbers increase. In order to solve this problem, we modeled the airport process and analyzed departure passenger arrival, scheduled security manpower under specific customer service level maintenance with mixed integer programming and validate the efficiency with simulation with adapting smart airport framework. We concluded that the airport management with information techniques can reduce waiting time within security and immigration process.

Inter-Cell Interference Management for Next-Generation Wireless Communication Systems

  • In this paper, we examine what changes the next-generation wireless communication systems will experience in terms of the technologies, services, and networks and, based on that, we investigate how the inter-cell interference management should evolve in various aspects. We identify that the main driving forces of the future changes involve the data-centric services, new dynamic service scenarios, all-IP core access networks, new physical-layer technologies, and heavy upload traffic. We establish that in order to cope with the changes, the next-generation inter-cell interference management should evolve to 1) set the objective of providing a maximal data rate, 2) take the form of joint management of power allocation and user scheduling, 3) operate in a fully distributed manner, 4) handle the time-varying channel conditions in mobile environment, 5) deal with the changes in interference mechanism triggered by the new physical-layer technologies, and 6) increase the spectral efficiency while avoiding centralized coordination of resource allocation of the users in the uplink channel.
