  • The migration mechanism of trace elements, Pb, Cd, Cu, Zn and Sn from brass food-contact utensiles was investigated. The migration of metals from brass was affected by the migration temperature (30, 60, 80 and $95^{\circ}C$), the simulant pH (2.5, 4.3, 6.0 and 7.0) and the migration time (30, 90, 180 and 360 min.). The amount of Pb migration was maximum at $95^{\circ}C$ with pH 2.5. This study indicated that the equilibrium of Pb migration was reached at 180 minutes. The mechanism of Pb migration was investigated with Scanning Electron Microscope (SEM) and Electron Probe Micro Analyzer (EPMA). To correlate the relations between the migration and the content of Pb in brass samples, ten brass samples having known content of Pb (the quantities of Pb in brass ; 0, 0.02, 0.09, 0.1, 0.2, 0.5, 0.9, 1.4, 5.4 and 9.2% (w/w)) were tested in the following conditions, 4% acetic acid, $95^{\circ}C$ and 30 minutes. The result represented that content of Pb in brass samples must be below 0.2% (w/w) to satisfy the 1.0 ppm (as Pb) of Korea Food Code.

  • WCDMA system is 3rd generation wireless mobile system specified by 3GPP. In WCDMA downlink, two power control schemes are operated. One is inner loop power control operated m every slot Another is outer loop power control based on one frame time. Base staion (BS) can estimate proper transmission power by these two power control schemes. However, because each MS's transmission power makes a severe effect on BS's performance, BS cannot give excessive transmission power to the speclfic user 3GPP defined Power Control Dynamic Range (PCDR) to guarantee proper BS's performance. In this paper, we propose Adaptive PCDR algorithm. By APCDR algorithm, Radio Network Controller (RNC) can estimate each MS's current state using received signal to interference ratio (SIR) APCDR algorithm changes MS's maximum code channel power based on frame. By proposed scheme, each MS can reduce wireless channel effect and endure outages in cell edge. Therefore, each MS can obtain better QoS. Simulation result indicate that APCDR algorithm show more attractive output than fixed PCDR algorithm.

  • In this study, the level of migration of 5 kinds of volatile organic compounds (VOCs) (toluene, styrene, ethylbenzene, isopropylbenzene and n-propylbenzene) into distilled water from polystyrene-made food containers was measured using Purge&Trap combined with GC/FID. The contents of the VOCs which have regulatory limits in Korea food code only for material specification were determined under three exposure conditions which were 30 min at $60^{\circ}C$, 30 min at $95^{\circ}C$ and actual situation of instant noodle intake. The calibration curve of 5 compounds showed good linearity ($^r2$ = 0.9976~0.9995) within the concentration range of 1~50 ng/mL. The limit of detection (LOD) and limit of quantification (LOQ) were validated at range of 0.041~0.092 and 0.135~0.304 ng/mL, respectively. The average migration contents of 5 compounds were below 5 ng/mL except for styrene. The average contents of styrene were highly detected at $95^{\circ}C$ for 30 min exposure (52.71 ng/mL). Under actual condition at instant noodle intake, the average contents of styrene was 17.23 ng/mL. The results demonstrated that the migration rate of VOCs was related to storage temperature and time.

  • Numerical simulation is performed to understand the structural behavior of an underground radwaste repository, assumed to be located at the depth of 500 m, in a granitic rock mats, in which a fault intersects the roof of the repository cavern. Two dimensional universal distinct element code, UDEC is used in the analysis. The numerical model includes a granitic rock mass, a canister with PWR spent fuels surrounded by the compacted bentonite inside the deposition hole, and the mixed bentonite backfilled in the rest of the space within the repository cavern. The structural behavior of three different cases, each case with a fault of an angle of $33^{\circ},\;45^{\circ},\;and\;58^{\circ}$ passing through the cavern roof-wall intersection, has been compared. And then fro the case with the $45^{\circ}$ fault, the hydro-mechanical, thermo-mechanical, and thermo-hydro-mechanical interaction behavior have been studied. The effect of the time-dependent decaying heat, from the radioactive materials in PWR spent fuels, on the repository and its surroundings has been studied. The groundwater table is assumed to be located 10m below the ground surface, and a steady state flow algorithm is used.

  • An effect of coupled thermo-hydro-mechanical and chemical (THMC) behavior is an essential part of the performance and safety assessment of geological disposal systems for high-level radioactive waste and spent nuclear fuel. Furthermore, numerical models and modeling techniques are necessary to analyze and predict the coupled THMC behavior in the disposal systems. However, phenomena associated with the coupled THMC behavior are nonlinear, and the constitutive relationships between them are not well known. Therefore, it is challenging to develop numerical models and modeling techniques to analyze and predict the coupled THMC behavior in the geological disposal systems. It is also difficult to verify and validate the development of the models and techniques because it requires expensive laboratory tests and in-situ experiments that need to be performed for a long time. DECOVALEX was initiated in 1992 to efficiently develop numerical models and modeling techniques and validate the developed models and techniques against the lab and in-situ experiments. In Korea, Korea Atomic Energy Research Institute has participated in DECOVALEX-2011, DECOVALEX-2015, and DECOVALEX-2019 since 2008. In this study, all tasks in the three DECOVALEX projects were introduced to the researcher in the field of rock mechanics and geotechnical engineering in Korea.

  • Recently, the demand for enterprise for service map providing and portal site services of a 3D virtual city model for public users has been expanding. Also, accuracy of the data, transfer rate and the update for the update for the lapse of time emerge are considered as more impertant factors, by providing 3D information with the web or mobile devices. With the latest technology, we have seen various 3D data through the web. With the VRML progressing actively, because it can provide a virtual display of the world and all aspects of interaction with web. It offers installation of simple plug-in without extra cost on the web. LiDAR system can obtain spatial data easily and accurately, as supprted by numerous researches and applications. However, in general, LiDAR data is obtained in the form of an irregular point cloud. So, in case of using data without converting, high processor is needed for presenting 2D forms from point data composed of 3D data and the data increase. This study expresses urban LiDAR data in 3D, 2D raster data that was applied by compressing algorithm that was used for solving the problems of large storage space and processing. For expressing 3D, algorithm that converts compressed LiDAR data into code Suited to VRML was made. Finally, urban area was expressed in 3D with expressing ground and feature separately.

  • BACKGROUND: Food Sanitary Act establishes Maximum Residue Limits (MRLs) of pesticides in food that are newly registered and used per each quarter, as stipulated by Agro-chemical Control Act. Current Food Code contains the MRLs for a total of 418 pesticides in 184 food types. METHODS AND RESULTS: National MRLs for pesticides have been established by based on scientific data of good agricultural practice, acceptable daily intake (ADI), food intake, average body weight and others. MRLs for pesticides are generally set under the principle that theoretical maximum daily intake (TMDI) are always below ADI. As results, 27 MRLs in agricultural products were newly proposed for 22 pesticides (fungicide: azoxystrobin, fludioxonil, fluquinconazole, flusilazole, iprovalicarb, kresoxim-methyl, mandipropamid, metconazole, pyraclostrobin, tebuconazole, triflumizole, etc., Insecticide: dinotefuran, flubendiamide, indoxacarb, cyhalothrin, spinetoram, thiacloprid, thiamethoxam, metaflumizone, etc., Acaricide(miticide): cyenopyrafen, lufenuron) in 2010. CONCLUSION(s): There is no intake concerns for establishment of pesticide MRLs on foods in this time. Because the ratio of theoretical maximum daily intake (TMDI) are set below that of ADI.

  • This study predicted the effect of operation pattern of flood control dam on water quality. Flood control dam temporarily impound floodwaters and then release them under control to the river below the dam preventing the river ecosystem from the extreme flood. The Hydrological Simulation Program Fortran (HSPF) and the Environmental Fluid Dynamics Code (EFDC) were adapted to predict the water quality before and after the dam construction in the proposed reservoir. The non-point pollutant delivery load from the river basin was estimated using the HSPF, and the EFDC was used to predict the water quality using the provided watershed boundary conditions from the HSPF. As a result of water quality simulation, it is predicted that the water quality will be improved due to the decrease of pollution source due to submergence after dam construction and temporary storage during rainfall. There would be no major water quality issues such as the eutrophication in the reservoir since the dam would impound the floodwater for a short time (2~3 days). In the environmental impact assessment stage of a planned dam, there may be some limitations to the exact simulation because the model can not be sufficiently calibrated. However, if the reliability of the model is improved through the acquisition of actual data in the future, it will be possible to examine the influence of the water environment according to various operating conditions in the environmental impact assessment of the new flood control dam.

  • Utilizing sequence control and numerical computing, embedded devices are used in a variety of automated systems, including those at industrial sites, in accordance with their control program. Since embedded devices are used as a control system in corporate industrial complexes, nuclear power plants and public transport infrastructure nowadays, deliberate attacks on them can cause significant economic and social damages. Most attacks aimed at embedded devices are data-coded, code-modulated, and control-programmed. The control programs for industry-automated embedded devices are designed to represent circuit structures, unlike common programming languages, and most industrial automation control programs are designed with a graphical language, LAD, which is difficult to process static analysis. Because of these characteristics, the vulnerability analysis and security related studies for industry automation control programs have only progressed up to the formal verification, real-time monitoring levels. Furthermore, the static analysis of industrial automation control programs, which can detect vulnerabilities in advance and prepare for attacks, stays poorly researched. Therefore, this study suggests a method to present a discussion on an industry automation control program designed to represent the circuit structure to increase the efficiency of static analysis of embedded industrial automation programs. It also proposes a medium term translation technology exploiting LLVM IR to comprehensively analyze the industrial automation control programs of various manufacturers. By using LLVM IR, it is possible to perform integrated analysis on dynamic analysis. In this study, a prototype program that converts to a logical expression type of medium language was developed with regards to the S company's control program in order to verify our method.
