We have studied liquid crystal (LC) aligning capabilities for homeotropic alignment and the control of tilt angles on the $SiO_{x}$ thin film by electron beam evaporation method. A high tilt angle of about $86.5^{\circ}$ was obtained, and also the suitable tilt angle of the NLC on the $SiO_{x}$ thin film at $20{\sim}50\;nm$ thickness with e-beam evaporation can be achieved. The uniform LC alignment on the $SiO_{x}$ thin film surfaces with electron beam evaporation can be achieved. It is considerated that the LC alignment on the $SiO_{x}$ thin film by electron beam evaporation is attributed to elastic interaction between LC molecules and micro-grooves at the $SiO_{x}$ thin film surface created by evaporation.

As the KOMPSAT-1 satellite can roll tilt up to $\pm$45$^{\circ}$, we have analyzed some EOC images taken at different tilt angles fur this study. The required ground coordinates for bundle adjustment and geometric accuracy, are read from the digital map produced by the National Geography Institution, at a scale of 1:5, 000. These are the steps taken for the tilting angle of KOMPSAT-1 satellite to be present in the evaluation of the accuracy of the geometric of each different stereo image data: Firstly, as the tilting angle is different in each image, the satellite dynamic characteristic must be determined by the sensor modeling. Then the best sensor modeling equation is determined. The result of this research, the difference between the RMSE values of individual stereo images is due more the quality of image and ground coordinates than to the tilt angle. The bundle adjustment using three KOMPSAT-1 stereo pairs, first degree of polynomials for modeling the satellite position were sufficient.

Although graphene has been successfully grown in large scale via chemical vapor deposition (CVD), it is still questionable whether the mechanical properties of CVD graphene are equivalent to those of exfoliated graphene. In addition, there has been an issue regarding how the tilt angle of the grain boundary (GB) affects the strength of graphene. We investigate the mechanical properties of CVD graphene with nanoindentation from atomic force microscopy and transmission electron microscopy. Surprisingly, the samples with GB angles of 10° and 26° yielded similar fracture stresses of ~ 80 and ~ 79 GPa, respectively. Even for samples with GB exhibiting a wider range, from 0° to 30°, only a slightly wider fracture stress range (~ 50 to ~ 90 GPa) was measured, regardless of tilt angle. The results are contrary to previous studies that have reported that GBs with a larger tilt angle yield stronger graphene film. Such a lack of angle dependence of GB can be attributed to irregular and well-stitched GB structures.
Narrow commuter vehicles can address many congestion, parking and pollution issues associated with urban transportation. In making narrow vehicles safe, comfortable and acceptable to the public, active tilt control systems are likely to playa crucial role. This paper focuses on the development of an active direct tilt control system for a narrow vehicle that utilizes an actuator in the vehicle suspension. A simple PD controller can stabilize the tilt dynamics of the vehicle to any desired tilt angle. However, the challenges in the tilt control system design arise in determining the desired lean angle in real-time and in minimizing tilt actuator torque requirements. Minimizing torque requirements requires the tilting and turning of the vehicle to be synchronized as closely as possible. This paper explores two different control design approaches to meet these challenges. A Receding Horizon Controller (RHC) is first developed so as to systematically incorporate preview on road curvature and synchronize tilting with driver initiated turning. Second, a nonlinear control system that utilizes feedback linearization is developed and found to be effective in reducing torque. A close analysis of the complex feedback linearization controller provides insight into which terms are important for reducing actuator effort. This is used to reduce controller complexity and obtain a simple nonlinear controller that provides good performance.
The purposes of this study were to compare pelvic tilt before and after manipulation of sacroiliac joint in 31 low back pain patients (11 males, 20 females) with sacroiliac joint dysfunction. The sacroiliac joint of patients was manipulated on the side of anterior pelvic tilt, using the technique described by Stoddard (1962) and Greenmann (1996). I used this technique because it usually eliminated sacroiliac joint dysfunction in one treatment session. SPSS for window computer system was used to analyze the data. Also t-test was performed for comparison of pelvic tilt angle before and after manipulation, and Pearson product-moment correlation analysis was performed for intratester reliability for measurements of pelvic tilt angle before and after manipulation. The result were as follows: 1. Intratester reliability was good for measures of pelvic tilt (r=.98). 2. The pelvic tilt after manipulation was significantly decreased (mean=$3.40^{\circ}$) compared with the pelvic tilt before manipulation (p=.001). All subjects showed asymmetrical right versus left pelvic tilt before manipulation. 40% of subjects showed decreased asymmetrical right versus left pelvic tilt after manipulation, and 60% of subjects showed symmetrical right versus left pelvic tilt after manipulation. I think that pelvic tilt asymmetry with hypomobility due to loss of joint play could be symmetrized by manipulation or mobilization, but pelvic tilt asymmetry with unilateral pelvic muscle shortening could not be symmetrized by manipulation or mobilization without relaxation and stretching of shortened muscles.
Although there have been various studies related to the body's movement from a sitting to a standing position (sit-to-stand task), there is limited information on the kinematic changes on the frontal and transverse planes. The purpose of this study was to ascertain how pelvic tilt affects kinematic changes in the frontal and transverse planes in the hip and knee joints during a sit-to-stand task. For this study, 33 healthy participants (13 female) were recruited. Each participant rose from a sitting to a standing posture at his or her preferred speed for each of three different pelvic tilt trials (anterior, posterior, and neutral), and the measured angles were analyzed using a 3-D motion analysis system. A one-way repeated measure analysis of variance was performed with Bonferroni's post hoc test. In addition, an independent t-test was carried out to determine the sex differences in hip and knee joint kinematic changes during the sit-to-stand tasks. The results were as follows: 1) The hip and knee joint angle in the frontal and transverse planes showed a significant difference between the different pelvic tilt postures during sitting in the pre-buttock lift-off phase (pre-LO) (p<.05). Compared to the posterior pelvic tilt posture, the anterior pelvic tilt posture involved significantly greater hip joint adduction and internal rotation, knee joint adduction, and reduced internal rotation of the knee joint. 2) Sex differences were found with significant differences for males in the initial and maximal angles in the frontal plane of the hip and knee joint (p<.05). Females had a significantly smaller initial abduction angle of the hip joint and a significantly greater maximal angle of the hip adduction joint. These results suggest that selecting a sit-to-stand exercise for pelvic tilt posture should be considered to control abnormal movement in the lower extremities.
The changing process from hovering mode to transition one is of importance to determine a stability of tilt-rotor aircraft, which is utilized in UAV(Unmaned Aerial Vehicle). The analysis on fluid flows and aerodynamic characteristics according to variation of tilting angle of rotor is essential step in development of tilt-rotor. In the present study, the computation domain is divided into the rotating and stationary regions in order to consider the rotating blades. For the convenient realization of various tilting angle as well as application of boundary condition, the whole computation region is constructed into sphere domain. The near farfield boundary condition is adopted. The airfoil used in computation is NACA 0012. The computation results for the hovering mode are validated by comparing with previously conducted experimental results. From the results, the flow fields around rotor blade and the aerodynamic characteristics in transition mode are observed. The computational result will provide the basis for development and performance evaluation of tilt-type aircraft.
This study represented experimental research on the flat-plate solar collector. The heat performances were measured the tube array surface temperature by thermal-couple. The solar collector($W{\times}H$) of $580{\times}1100$, various tilt angles of 30, 45, 60 degree and the internal tube number of 4, 6, 8, 10(ea) were utilized in the present investigation. It is found that the thermal concentration is higher as the tilt angle become larger and the solar tubes are more and more. In this stuby obtained results of following: The array of tubes in collector has the best nice in that the number of tube is eight and the tilt angle is 60 degree. The collect energy by each tube array shown high value by increase the number of tubes and tilt angles. In addition to, the collect energy depends on by the tilt angle than the number of tube.

Flame spread velocity to virgin surface fuel bed on a ground slope increases as the flame gets closer to the slope according to the change of a ground slope angle. The existing studies have generally adopted the theory that flame gets closer to the slope as the slope angle increases, without considering the change of flame tilt against the slope. In this study, experiments were made on the actual characteristics of the flame on slopes of various angles, and as a result, this study offers the flame tilt equation according to the slope angle, and derive correlation between flame tilt and flame spread velocity on slope conditions.

In this paper, we investigate the performance evaluation of three dimensional (3D) multiple-input multiple-output (MIMO) systems with an adjustable base station (BS) antenna tilt angle and zero-forcing (ZF) receivers in Ricean/Lognormal fading channels. In particular, we take the lognormal shadow fading, 3D antenna gain with antenna tilt angle and path-loss into account. First, we derive a closed-form lower bound on the sum rate, then we obtain the optimal BS antenna tilt angle based on the derived lower bound, and finally we present linear approximations for the sum rate in high and low-SNR regimes, respectively. Based on our analytical results, we gain valuable insights into the impact of key system parameters, such as the BS antenna tilt angle, the Ricean K-factor and the radius of cell, on the sum rate performance of 3D MIMO with ZF receivers.
