Objectives: This study examined the color changes of a resin composite with different shades upon exposure to water with different pH. Materials and Methods: Nanohybrid resin composites (Filtek Z350XT, 3M ESPE) with four different shades (A2, A3, B1, and B2) were immersed in water with three different pH (pH 3, 6, and 9) for 14 day. The CIE $L^*a^*b^*$ color coordinates of the specimens were evaluated before and after immersion in the solutions. The color difference (${\Delta}E^*$) and the translucency parameter (TP) were calculated using the color coordinates. Results: ${\Delta}E^*$ ranged from 0.33 to 1.58, and the values were affected significantly by the pH. The specimens immersed in a pH 6 solution showed the highest ${\Delta}E^*$ values (0.87 - 1.58). The specimens with a B1 shade showed the lowest ${\Delta}E^*$ change compared to the other shades. TP ranged from 7.01 to 9.46 depending on the pH and resin shade. The TP difference between before and after immersion in the pH solutions was less than 1.0. Conclusions: The resulting change of color of the tested specimens did not appear to be clinically problematic because the color difference was < 1.6 in the acidic, neutral, and alkaline solutions regardless of the resin shade, i.e., the color change was imperceptible.
In this study, the turbulent flow around a bluff body for different wind velocities was investigated numerically by using its two- and three-dimensional models. These models were tested to verify the validity of the simulation by being compared with experimental results which were taken from the literature. Variations of non-dimensional velocities in different positions according to the bluff body height were analysed and illustrated graphically. When the velocity distributions were examined, it was seen that the results of both two- and three-dimensional models agree with the experimental data. It was also seen that the velocities obtained from two-dimensional model matched up with the experimental data from the ground to the top of the bluff body. Particularly, compared to the front part of the bluff body, results of the upper and back part of the bluff body are better. Moreover, after comparing the results from calculations by using different models with experimental data, the effect of multidimensional models on the obtained results have been analysed for different inlet velocities. The calculation results from the two-dimensional (2D) model are in satisfactory agreement with the calculation results of the three-dimensional model (3D) for various flow situations when comparing with the experimental data from the literature even though the 3D model gives better solutions.
Dissipative particle dynamics (DPD) was carried out to study the nucleation and crystal growth process of $CeO_2$ nanoparticles in different alcohol aqueous solutions. The results showed that the nucleation and crystal growth process of $CeO_2$ can be classified into three stages: nuclei growth, crystal stabilization and crystal aggregation except the initial induction stage, which could be reproduced by collecting simulation results after different simulation time. Properly selecting the sizes of $CeO_2$ and water bead was crucial in the simulation system. The influence of alcohol type and content in solutions, and precipitation temperature on the particle dimension were investigated in detail and compared with the experimental results. The consistency between simulation results and experimental data verify that the simulation can reproduce the macroscopic particle aggregation process. The effect of solvent on the nucleation and crystal growth of $CeO_2$ nanoparticles are different at three stages and can not be simply described by Derjaguin-Landau-Verwey-Overbeek (DLVO) theory or nucleation thermodynamics theory. Our work demonstrated that DPD methods can be applied to study nanoparticle forming process.

Three different Oyijangachi(Kochujang, Doenjang and Ganjang) have been prepared by traditional method. Cucumbers have been dipped in six different solutions for 48 hrs. After dipping, the cucumbers have been aged in Kochujang, Doenjang and Ganjang for 30 days. The acidity, pH, salt content and sensory evaluation of the cucumbers which were treated by six different solutions has measured. Moisture content of fresh cucumber was 95%, and the moisture content of Kochujang, Doenjang and Ganjang of Oyijangachi was 66.78%, 76.94% and 81.33%, respectively, after 30 days of aging. Protein content fo Kochujang, Doenjang and Ganjang of Oyijangachi increased 57%, 258% and 197%, respectively, after 30 days of aging when they compared with fresh cucumber(control). Initial acidity of Oyijangachi of cucumbers which were treated with solution 1~5 at 0 day were between 0.49 and 0.56 and increased during aging. Initial acidity of Oyijangachi treated with solution 6 was 1.84 which was low because 1% of acetic acid was added and acidity increased during aging. The pH of Kochujang, Doenjang, and Ganjang of Oyijangachi decreased 4.37, 3.98 and 4.61, respectively, after 30 days aging. Salt content of Oyijangachi dipped in various salt solutions increased as the salt content of the solution increased. Salt content of three Oyijangachi increased drastically during 0~5 days of aging and slowly increase between 5~30 days of aging. The taste and smell of Kochujang Oyijangachi were highest as treated wih 12% NaCl solution(treatment 4) and the color was highest when the Oyijangachi was treated with solution 1. The taste, smell and color of Doenjang Oyijangachi were highest as treated with 12% NaCl solution plus CaCl2(treatment 5). It was observed that the firmness of Oyijangachi was generally higher as the cucumber treated.

The methods of sensitivity analysis for linear programming can be classified in two types: sensitivity analysis using an optimal solution, and sensitivity analysis using an approximate optimal solution. As the methods of sensitivity analysis using an optimal solution, there are three sensitivity analysis methods: sensitivity analysis using an optimal basis, positive sensitivity analysis, and optimal partition sensitivity analysis. Since they may provide different characteristic regions under degeneracy, it is not easy to understand and apply the results of the three methods. In this paper, we propose a generalized sensitivity analysis that can integrate the three existing methods of sensitivity analysis. When a right-hand side or a cost coefficient is perturbed, the generalized sensitivity analysis gives different characteristic regions according to the controlling index set that denotes the set of variables allowed to have positive values in optimal solutions to the perturbed problem. We show that the three existing sensitivity analysis methods are special cases of the generalized sensitivity analysis, and present some properties of the generalized sensitivity analysis.
Analytical investigation of the fracture of inhomogeneous beam with two parallel lengthwise cracks is performed. The thickness of the beam varies continuously along the beam length. The beam is loaded in three-point bending. Two beam configurations with different lengths of the cracks are analyzed. The two cracks are located arbitrary along the thickness of the beam. Solutions to the strain energy release rate are derived assuming that the material has non-linear elastic mechanical behavior. Besides, the beam exhibits continuous material inhomogeneity along its thickness. The balance of the energy is analyzed in order to derive the strain energy release rate. Verifications of the solutions are carried-out by considering the complementary strain energy stored in the beam configurations. The influence of the continuous variation of the thickness along the beam length on the lengthwise fracture behavior is investigated. The dependence of the lengthwise fracture on the lengths of the two parallel cracks is also studied.
The aim of this study was to elucidate chemical structures and rheological properties of arabinogalactans (AGs) isolated from three legumes including black gram (BG), great northern bean (GNB), and California small white bean (CSWB). The ratio of galactose to arabinose (G/A) in three legumes increased in the order of BG > GNB > CSWB. The rheological measurements of 1-5% (w/v) AG solutions revealed Newtonian and non-Newtonian flow behaviors. BG exhibited yield stress, indicating plastic behavior. Small-amplitude oscillatory tests indicated viscoelastic properties of BG, GNB, and CSWB ranging from solid-like, paste-like, and liquid-like behaviors, respectively. Small-strain oscillatory tests were conducted to assess the structure recovery of the AGs after pre-shearing. G" values of BG and GNB increased, but those of CSWB remained constant after shearing. These results suggest that the chemical structures of the AGs, particularly their G/A ratios, influence their rheological properties.
Removal of dyes Reactive Blue 221, N Blue RGB and Acid Blue MTR using two different samples of activated carbon by static batch method was studied. Experimental data on optical density of solutions at different concentrations ranging from 10 to 100 mg/L and of solutions after adsorption on activated carbon samples were measured. Calibration curves were plotted and the amount of dye $q_e$ adsorbed was calculated. The data was fitted to Langmuir and Freundlich isotherms for two different carbon samples and different concentration and pH values. Constants were calculated from the slope and intercept values of the isotherms. Coefficient of correlation $R_2$ and Standard Deviation SD were also noted. The data fitted well to the isotherms. Carbon sample $C_1$ showed higher potential to adsorb all the three dyes. Adsorption was higher at lower concentrations. Carbon sample $C_2$ showed better adsorption in acidic pH as compared to in alkaline pH. From the analysis of the data capacity of $C_1$ and $C_2$ to remove the dyes from water have been compared.

Product shortage which causes backordering and/or lost sales cost is very popular in chemical industries, especially in commodity polymer business. This study deals with backordering cost in the supply chain optimization model under the framework of process-inventory network. Classical economic order quantity model with backordering cost suggested optimal time delay and lot size of the final product delivery. Backordering can be compensated by advancing production/transportation of it or purchasing substitute product from third party as well as product delivery delay in supply chain network. Optimal solutions considering all means to recover shortage are more complicated than the classical one. We found three different solutions depending on parametric range and variable bounds. Optimal capacity of production/transportation processes associated with the product in backordering can be different from that when the product is not in backordering. The product shipping cycle time computed in this study was smaller than that optimized by the classical EOQ model.
A Harmony Search (HS) and Genetic Algorithms (GA), two powerful metaheuristic search techniques, are used for minimum weight designs of different truss structures by selecting suitable profile sections from a specified list taken from American Institute of Steel Construction (AISC). A computer program is coded in MATLAB interacting with SAP2000-OAPI to obtain solution of design problems. The stress constraints according to AISC-ASD (Allowable Stress Design) and displacement constraints are considered for optimum designs. Three different truss structures such as bridge, dome and tower structures taken from literature are designed and the results are compared with the ones available in literature. The results obtained from the solutions for truss structures show that optimum designs by these techniques are very similar to the literature results and HS method usually provides more economical solutions in multi-element truss problems.
