  • This study investigated factors that affect stress recognition, depression, suicidal thoughts and health-related quality of life for diabetics over 50 years of age. Five hundred one diabetics were surveyed who participated in the 4th Korea National Health and Nutrition Examination Survey 2009. The data were analyzed with multiple regression analysis and Structural Equation Model to determine the factors. The results are as follows. Men, older and lower income groups, those not involved in economic activities, smokers, and drinkers showed a lower quality of life (p<0.001). There was no correlation with moderate-intensity exercise. Stress recognition (t=-4.229, p<0.001), depression (t=-2.156, p<0.05), and suicidal thoughts (t=-3.274, p<0.001) had significant effects on the quality of life (p <0.001, $R^2=0.25$). The most important of these factors is stress. Being diagnosed as a diabetic changes the lives of patients, who come under stress from controlling their blood sugar level. Societal support should be developed to help patients cope with the challenges of diabetes.

  • Through Web 2.0 days, the end users express their opinions and thoughts for blogs and community spaces on the Internet. These opinions and thoughts are used to purchase products, however, users only refer to a few comments not overall opinions. Opinion Analysis System is an opinion search, developed from a natural language search, which analyzes the product's positive or negative evaluations using opinions of products and services on the Internet. In this paper, we suggest a syntactic analysis and inverse processing system that studies and processes 'Positive', 'Negative', 'Neutral' in addition to 'Inverse' information to analyze 'positive' or 'negative' for the core of sentences in Opinion Analysis Service.

  • Purpose: The purpose of this study was to develop a program for anger management based on self-efficacy. Methods: In this study, four types of approaches to enhance anger control were developed; 1) a role play for vicarious experiences; 2) an assertive training for anger expression; 3) a 30-minute long education program & a 20-minute long telephone call coaching for verbal persuasion; and 4) a booklet for anger management and self care behaviors. One group pretest-posttest design was used for evaluating the program. Study subjects were 6 cancer patients undergoing chemotherapy. The group were received a 4-week intervention, 60 ~ 90 minutes a day weekly, and measured the variables at baseline, 4 weeks later. Anger-in, anger-out, and anger-control were measured by STAXI-K. Data was analysed by Wilcoxon using SPSS/WIN 12.0 program. Anger situation was analysed according to primary anger-thoughts and secondary anger-thoughts based on cognitive theories of anger. Results: The program for anger management consisted of a role play, assertive training, education, telephone call coaching and a booklet. The program revealed significantly less Anger-in (Z = -1.997, p = .046), anger-out (Z = -2.207, p = .027). No difference, however, was found in anger control (Z= -1.826, p=.068). Conclusion: This evaluation suggested that more assertive training and longer intervention may be needed to maximize anger control.

For this study, 93 elementary school teachers who have taught mathematics/science in gifted class were selected and a fifteen items questionnaire designed to elicit teachers' perception of steam education was to administered to them. The major findings are as follows: First, the ratio of teachers who understood a steam education exactly is very low. But teachers have positive thoughts about the need of steam education. Second, teachers thought that steam education has a good effect on elementary education. Third, teachers thought that steam education will be an alternative teaching and learning method. Fourth, teachers have negative thoughts to participate in class work related on steam education. To improve negative attitudes on steam education, incentives for teachers seems to be required. • This study aims to investigate the thoughts of the utopians for the ideal community in 19th century. Around late 18th century, the ideal community proposals by the utopians were coming out as an alternative to reform the social and economical structure. The experimental community proposals which suggested by the utopian socialists such as Robert Owen and Charles Fourier took their emphasis on the social reform to improve the environment of work in terms of social and economical organization. While the thoughts of ideal community showing up in the literature by utopians were based on the state socialism that accompanied by the ultimate corrective system of production and distribution and the unified social system, the physical organization was described in more detail without a restriction in contrast to the real proposals for the ideal community. Based on the experimental community and the ideal community in the literature in 19th century, the urban model of late 19th century were proposed as a real community model. With the optimistic belief to the technological development resulted from the Industrial Revolution, the urban models of utopia placed greater emphasis on the physical organization than the previous ideal communities in 19th century and had much influence on the modern urban planning in 20th century.
