Possessor Agreement as Theta Feature Sharing

  • Korean displays an interesting construction (so-called possessor agreement construction), where a possessor nominal and its possessum nominal are marked with the same case as shown in the example Mary-ka John-ul tali-lul cha-ss-ta ‘Mary kicked John's leg’ More interestingly, not all possessors in possessive construction are marked the same case with its possessum as shorn in the ungrammatical sentence *Mary-ka John-ul cha-lul cha-ss-ta ‘Mary kicked John's car’. Hence, a simple but non-trivial question arises: In what situation are both possessors and possessums marked with the same case\ulcorner In this paper, we advance three claims: (i) Possessor agreement appears in the situation where entailment is satisfied as follows: If Mary kicked John's leg, it entails that Mary kicked John, (ii) entailment in possessor agreement results from theta-feature sharing; specifically, the whole DP and the possessor DP share the same theta role, and (iii) Possessor nominals are marked with accusative (or nominative) case when they are assigned internal theta role from the predicate directly.

Cross-Interaction Constant and Intrinsic Reaction Barrier

  • The cross second-derivative of the activation energy,${\theta}$G${\neq}$ , with respect to the two component thermodynamic barriers, ${\theta}$G˚X and ${\theta}$G$^{\circ}C$Y, can be given in terms of a cross-interaction constant (CIC), $\betaXY(\rhoXY)$, and also in terms of the intrinsic barrier,${\theta}$G${\neq}$ , with a simple relationship between the two: $\betaXY$ = $-1}(6${\theta}$G${\neq}$).$ This equation shows that the distance between the two reactants in the adduct (TS, intermediate, or product) is inversely related to the intrinsic barrier. An important corollary is that the Ritchie N+ equation holds (for which $\betaXY$ = 0) for the reactions with high intrinsic barrier. Various experimental and theoretical examples are presented to show the validity of the relationship, and the mechanistic implications are discussed.

Analysis of Excluded Volume Effect in Theta Solvent Systems of Polymethyl Methacrylate and Polystyrene by Means of a Modified Scaled Temperature Parameter

  • The expansion of two different kinds of hydrodynamic size of polymethyl methacrylate (PMMA Mw: 1.56- 2.04 ${\times}$ 106 g/mol) has been measured by dynamic light scattering and viscometry above the Flory $\theta$ temperature of the variou s solvents such as n-butyl chloride, 3-heptanone, and 4-heptanone. The expansion of PMMA chains was analyzed in terms of universal temperature parameters and also compared with previous results of polystyrene (PS) system. First it was found that simple $\tau/{\tau}c$ parameter no longer had its universality for the expansion behavior of hydrodynamic size in the chemically different linear polymer chains. However after modifying ${\tau}/{\tau}c$ parameter into $(Mw/Ro2)3}2(\tau/\tauc)$, we observed a much better universality for both PMMA and PS systems. Here Mw, Ro, $\tau[=(T-{\theta}$)/${\theta}$]$, and ${\tau}c[=({\theta}-Tc)/Tc]$ are defined as the weight average molecular weight, the unperturbed end-to-end distance, the reduced temperature and the reduced critical temperature, respectively.

Optimal Estimation within Class of James-Stein Type Decision Rules on the Known Norm

  • For the mean vector of a p-variate normal distribution ($p{\geq}3$), the optimal estimation within the class of James-Stein type decision rules under the quadratic loss are given when the underlying distribution is that of a variance mixture of normals and when the norm ${\parallel}\underline{{\theta}}{\parallel}$ in known. It also demonstrated that the optimal estimation within the class of Lindley type decision rules under the same loss when the underlying distribution is the previous type and the norm ${\parallel}{\theta}-\overline{\theta}\underline{1}{\parallel}$ with $\overline{\theta}=\frac{1}{p}\sum\limits_{i=1}^{n}{\theta}_i$ and $\underline{1}=(1,{\cdots},1)^{\prime}$ is known.

에프세타 렌즈의 사출 성형 해석에 관한 연구 (A Study on the Analysis of Injection Molding of F-theta Lens)

  • In this study, we investigate the injection molding of f-theta lens, an important element of the laser scanning unit of laser printers and scanning systems. The f-theta lens is an aspherical plastic lens that must be molded with a precision of seconds. An injection molding method is often used for mass producing aspherical plastic lenses at a low cost. In the injection molding process, costs related to forming and injection are included. Therefore, in this study, to determine the shrinkage and deformation of injection molded f-theta lens, we predict the pressure and temperature distributions. Further, based on the analysis of the predictions, we maximize the design efficiency and verify the cost and development period reduction.

초정밀 마이크로 위치결정 스테이지의 제작 및 평가 (Experiment of the Precision micro-positioning stage)

  • The performance of the precision micro-positioning 4-dof stage is presented. The compact design utilizes the monolithic mechanism to achieve the translation in the Z axis and rotation in the $\theta$ z, $\theta$ x and $\theta$ y axes with high stiffness and high damping. Hysteresis, nonlinearity, and drift of the piezoelectric effects are improved by incorporating the sensors in a feedback control. Experiments demonstrate that the micro-positioning stage is capable of 2nm resolution over the travel range of 25$\mu\textrm$ m in the Z axis, 0.0l7 $\mu\textrm$ rad resolution over the 170$\mu\textrm$ rad in the $\theta$ z and 0.011 $\mu\textrm$ rad resolution over the $\mu\textrm$ rad in the $\theta$ x and $\theta$ y axes. The cross-axis interferences among the axes are at a noise range. This stage is available for positioning error compensation of the XY stage with large stroke.

Preissmann기법에 의한 1차원 부정류의 해석 (An Analysis of Unsteady Flow with Preissmann Scheme)

  • 본 연구에서는 1차원 부정류를 나타내는 Saint Venant의 편미분방정식을 Preissmann의 Implicit 기법에 의하여 유한차분방정식을 구성한 후에 Double sweep 알고리죽을 적용하여 해석하는 문제를 다루었으며, 본 차분방정식의 안정성과 정도를 검토하였고 $C_r$, $\theta$ 및 Chezy 계수 등의 영향을 1차원 Seiche 운동에 관한 수치실험을 통하여 분석하여 보았는 바, 그 내용은 다음과 같다. 1. 보조관계식을 활용함으로써 Double sweep 알고리즘의 적용이 가능하였다. 2. 해석결과에 가장 큰 영향을 미치는 인자는 $C_r$, $\theta$ 및 Chezy 계수인 바, 높은 정도의 결과를 얻기 위해서 $C_r$은 1보다 너무 큰 값은 피해야 될 것이며, $\theta$의 적합한 범위는 0.6<$\theta$<1.0이였다. 3. 본 모형은 1차원 장파의 전파에 적용하였던 바 안정된 결과를 보였다.

박형 병렬구조 XYθ 정렬 스테이지 개발 (Development of Thin and Parallel XYθ Alignment Stage)

  • 정렬 시스템(Alignment System)은 다축의 스테이지를 이용하여 신속하게 물체를 정렬오차 범위 내로 위치결정시키는 역할을 한다. 본 연구에서는 병렬구조로 설계하여 두께가 얇고 높은 정밀도와 더불어 강성이 높은 XY${\theta}$ 정렬 스테이지를 개발하였다. 개발된 박형 병렬구조 XY${\theta}$정렬 스테이지는 직각도, 반복정밀도, 진직도 등의 3가지 측정항목에 대해 초정밀급을 달성하였으며 반복정밀도는 $1{\mu}m$미만이다. 비전시스템 및 정렬알고리즘을 활용한 정렬성능 평가에서는 정렬오차 ${\pm}6.25{\mu}m$를 달성하였다.

  • 일반적으로 LSU(Laser Scanning Unit)는 LD모듈(Laser Diode, 콜리메이팅 렌즈, 슬릿), 실린더 렌즈 고속회전하는 PM(Polygon Mirror), f$\theta$렌즈와 같은 광부품들과 이들을 취부하는 Housing으로 구성되어져 있다. 먼저 본 논문에서는 당사에서 자체적으로 광설계된 LSU 시작품(시작(試作品)을 측정/평가하기 위해 평가항목들에 관해 살펴 보았다. 당사에서 시제작된 LSU의 특징은 LSU의 핵심부품인 f$\theta$렌즈가 2단가압형 저압사출방식으로 제작되었다는 것이다. LSU의 평가항목들은 BSH(Beam Scan Head)를 LMC(Linear Motion Controller)위에 장착해서 비교적 간단히 측정 할 수 있었고, 측정결과 600DPI(Dots Per Inch) 성능을 만족함을 확인할 수 있었다.

Correlation between torsional vibration and translational vibration

  • This paper presents theoretical investigation on the cross correlation between torsional vibration ($u_{\theta}$) and translation vibration ($u_x$) of asymmetrical structure under white noise excitation. The formula reveals that the cross correlation coefficient (${\rho}$) is a function of uncoupled frequency ratio (${\Omega}={\omega}_{\theta}/{\omega}_x$), eccentricity, and damping ratio (${\xi}$). Simulations involving acceleration records from fifteen different earthquakes show correlation coefficients results similar to the theoretical correlation coefficients. The uncoupled frequency ratio is the dominating parameter to ${\rho}$; generally, ${\rho}$ is positive for ${\omega}_{\theta}/{\omega}_x$ > 1.0, negative for ${\omega}_{\theta}/{\omega}_x$ < 1.0, and close to zero for ${\omega}_{\theta}/{\omega}_x$ = 1.0. When the eccentricity or damping ratio increases, ${\rho}$ increases moderately for small ${\Omega}$ (< 1.0) only. The relation among $u_x$, $u_{\theta}$ and corner displacement are best presented by ${\rho}$; a simple way to hand-calculate the theoretical dynamic corner displacements from $u_x$, $u_{\theta}$ and ${\rho}$ is proposed as an alternative to dynamic analysis.
