  • Traumatic abdominal wall hernia is a rare presentation, most commonly reported in the context of motor vehicle accidents and associated with blunt abdominal injuries and handlebar injuries in the pediatric population. A 13-year-old boy presented with multiple traumatic injuries and hemodynamic instability after a high-speed motor vehicle accident. His injuries consisted of massive traumatic abdominal wall hernia (grade 4) with bowel injury and perforation, blunt aortic injury, a Chance fracture, hemopneumothorax, and a humeral shaft fracture. Initial surgical management included partial resection of the terminal ileum, sigmoid colon, and descending colon. Laparostomy was managed with negative pressure wound therapy. The patient underwent skin-only primary closure of the abdominal wall and required multiple returns to theatre for debridement, dressing changes, and repair of other injuries. Various surgical management options for abdominal wall closure were considered. In total, he underwent 36 procedures. The multiple injuries had competing management aims, which required close collaboration between specialist clinicians to form an individualized management plan. The severity and complexity of this injury was of a scale not previously experienced by many clinicians and benefited from intrahospital and interhospital specialist collaboration. The ideal aim of primary surgical repair was not possible in this case of a giant abdominal wall defect.

  • In this study, an analysis is carried out on the acoustic design for an indoor gymnasium scheduled to be built at Buan County, Chonbuk Province. By way of background, the study examines the case of a large-scale indoor gymnasium that has been constructed in the local area of Hangan-myeon. There are many examples whereby this gymnasium could be used not only as a sporting facility for the residents, but also as a multipurpose space for public performances such as leisure activities, lectures, assembling activities, theatre and concerts etc. In order to maximize the functional utilization of such an indoor gymnasium, it is important to simultaneously verify the acoustic capabilities of the space in terms of Definition of both Voice and Music. However, as a large-scaled athletic facility, the building was designed with a high ceiling-height to accommodate its functional characteristics. The space forms a Sound Focus whereby the sound is concentrated at a specific part, and because the vibration of sound is too loud due to its broad volume, acoustic defects arise such as a significant number of Echoes. Using this gymnasium as a precedent, this study proposes an acoustic design based on the drawings of the indoor gymnasium that is scheduled to be built at B County, Chonbuk Province. The gymnasium is equipped with an optimized acoustic condition passing through the Acoustic Simulation Phase. From the results of an Acoustic Simulation, we can design an indoor gymnasium that is equipped with a considerably satisfying and improved acoustic performance compared with the building before it was reformed. It is also considered that the use of such materials can fundamentally reduce construction costs and can improve acoustic performance, at the planning and design stages for similar sporting facilities in the future.

  • Aldo Rossi explained Roman Forum as a significant urban artifact, because Roman Forum analogically showed not only an image of Roman Empire but also a figure of primitive design for its region. Thus the comparison and analysis between characteristics of Aldo Rossi's architectural works which are based on the theory of 'Analogical city' and the forums, the urban artifacts, was proceeded in this study. Consequently, it was discovered that Aldo Rossi had used his analogical thinking from the forum for his architectural languages such as gable roofs, square windows with depth, columns and so on. His analogical use of organizing spaces, such as courtyard type and pillar corridor type, has also shown that their types came from forum spaces. His analogical aspects of the forum: a space where urban images are analogically formed; were expressed in the 'Theater of Science' with the urban architecture form as the actor and the Theatre as the stage for analogical urban performances. Nevertheless, the expression of primitive design which divides the Roman Forum from other forums was actualized in 'the Theater of the World'. He not only analogically used types from Roman Forum in architectural design but also used boat in Water space, which decided the lifestyle and culture of Venice even before the civilization, to express the primitive design of Venice. Consequently, Aldo Rossi, by aiming the severance from the tradition, provided the possibility of explaining the newest modem type within the historical meaning by forming type which finds its continuance in history through 'the Theater of the World' and through analogical thinking along with the level of modern culture, to our urban architectural atmosphere that has lost its historical meanings.

  • Recently performing arts pursue a new rootage of the collective intelligence that seeks experimental thinking and diversity in creative convergence. Understanding in this way the concept of artist's horizontal creation structure and individual communication of the public, this study tries to analyze ${\ll}God's\;Eye\;View{\gg}$, an example of convergent performing art. The result of analysis is as follows. The convergence in performing art could be approached through experiential thinking and diachronic of artists by genre, and the interpretation and its value of the result of work be shared horizontally. ${\ll}God's\;Eye\;View{\gg}$ express a dynamic communication and meaning of poetic image, and shows the experimental creation of convergence and the individual communication ability of collective intelligence as a new value of convergence.

  • The purpose of this research is to investigate appropriate usage of pansori's method of breathing, sound making, and resonance in order to develop actor's aesthetic voice. Today's theatre no longer see inter-cultural approach as new or experimental, but see it as a part of global current. Actors are required to integrate some global-ness into their acting. It's not enough, however, for actors to equip some cosmopolitan sensibility. More important thing is that they should be able to integrate one's own culture and aesthetic into their performance. Only after acquiring one's own cultural identity, it is possible to step into inter-cultural work. It is fundamental, therefore, for actors to assimilate traditional movement and aesthetic voice. It's been known that traditional Korean voice traits are well preserved in Pansori. In this paper, based upon well-known theories and practices of western voice training, pansori's principles and practices are utilized to bring a new aesthetic voice.

  • Meyerhold's 'Biomechanics', which germinated from a critical point of view towards naturalism theatre, is a primary acting method that attempted to approach to acting in a material way, along with Stanislavski's 'System'. However, not only for a reason of the political background that all study on Meyerhold were forbidden in Russia but also for a reason of universalization of Stanislavski's 'System' through the world mutated into American acting method, it is a fact that Meyerhold's 'Biomechanics' is not actively utilized in a field of actor training at the present day. Especially, in case of actor training in Korea, 'Biomechanics' is also misunderstood as a method only focused on an actor's physical approach. Therefore, a purpose of this study is to explore usefulness of 'Biomechanics' in order to practically apply it to the actor training through correct understanding.

  • While the United States and Japan have non-government film rating system, Korea and France are still maintaining governmental control process. But the restrict showing rate in Korea does possibly violate the Constitution with no theatre for the movies of that rate right now. No other visual media including broadcasting have any outer classification process before their showing. So we need to improve our system by replacing it with non-governmental system. To establish independent non-government rating system, first of all, the major companies of film industry should get together to set up Korean Classification and Rating Association, to support the Film Rating Board. The most important thing is that the board operates independently. Government can support art cinemas financially with rating fee. Juvenile protection groups have to keep watch on the process of the board going fairly as well. The chief obstacle for non-governmental rating system is the fact that major companies don't want to get it. But continuing efforts to find any rational way is worthy enough.

  • The advent of the handheld camera has dramatically transformed film production and consumption in countless ways. French director and theorist, Alexandre Astruc focuses on the development of 16mm camera and foretell film will be used as a tool to realize the personal vision of the author like other art. As proof of his claim French New Wave and Cinéma vérité create the film with handheld camera on the real location to capture new reality. Their films are distinguished itself from other films made by conventional Hollywood studios. Similarly, John Cassavetes in the United States began to focus on the handheld camera. Since then the handheld camera has become one of the popular shooting methods. Especially, handheld camera are noted for their agile movement and mobility as a way to capture various realities. However, with the advances in technology, lighter cameras and higher resolution have changed in different ways. The technology is neutral, one shooting method does not serve for one philosophy or ism. At one time, handheld shooting is now used as not only a means to capture the real world but also a tool to mimic a realistic feeling.

  • The stage costume in theater, along with the stage art, is the element that has the biggest visual effect in helping the audience to understand the theater. Nevertheless, in the domestic theater production system, compared with the other public performance products, the stage costume has been rented or purchased due to the lack understanding of the importance of the stage costume and budget problem, and thus the role of the stage costume has been undervalued. Such a phenomenon is more noticeable in the small scale theater. However, in this play White Neutral Nation (Original: Andorra), the production team and the directing team recognized the importance of the costume in the early stage of production, and accordingly lots of efforts, such as staff meetings and budget allocation, were made for the stage costume. As a result, the entire production process of the stage costume could be examined. Recently, performance culture in Korea has made rapid progress and diverse forms of public performances are created and planned. Accordingly, the level of audience has been rising and the interest in the stage costume is also rising. So, it can be said that not only the stage costume but also the production system that makes it are important. This research examined the production process of the stage costume only of the play White Neutral Nation but it is considered necessary to make researches on the production process of the stage costume used for the theater of different themes and public performances of different kinds and to systematize their production process of the stage costume.
