Enhancing Depth Accuracy on the Region of Interest in a Scene for Depth Image Based Rendering

  • This research proposed the domain division depth map quantization for multiview intermediate image generation using Depth Image-Based Rendering (DIBR). This technique used per-pixel depth quantization according to the percentage of depth bits assigned in domains of depth range. A comparative experiment was conducted to investigate the potential benefits of the proposed method against the linear depth quantization on DIBR multiview intermediate image generation. The experiment evaluated three quantization methods with computer-generated 3D scenes, which consisted of various scene complexities and backgrounds, under varying the depth resolution. The results showed that the proposed domain division depth quantization method outperformed the linear method on the 7- bit or lower depth map, especially in the scene with the large object.

  • 인간의 시각 주의 시스템은 주어진 시각장면을 모두 다 처리하기보다는 주의가 집중되는 일정한 작은 영역들을 순간적으로 선택하여 그 부분만을 순차적으로 처리함으로써 복잡한 시각장면을 단순화시켜 쉽게 분석할 수 있는 능력을 가지고 있다. 본 논문에서는 주의 기반 시각정보 처리체계 시스템 구현을 위한 새로운 특징맵 구성 및 통합 방법을 제안한다. 제안하는 시스템에서는 시각특징으로서 색상, 명도, 방위, 형태 외에 2개의 스테레오 영상 쌍으로부터 얻을 수 있는 깊이 정보를 추가하여 사용하였다. 실험결과를 통해 깊이 정보를 사용함으로써 주의 영역의 정탐지율이 개선됨을 확인하였다.

Comparison of local flaps versus skin grafts as reconstruction methods for defects in the medial canthal region

  • Background: The medial canthal region features a complex three-dimensional and internal anatomical structure. When reconstructing a defect in this area, it is crucial to consider both functional and aesthetic aspects, which presents significant challenges. Generally, local flaps are preferred for reconstruction; however, skin grafts can be used when local flaps are not feasible. Therefore, we conducted a comparative analysis of surgical outcomes skin grafts when local flaps were not feasible, to determine which surgical method is more effective for medial canthal region reconstruction. Methods: Twenty-five patients who underwent medial canthal region reconstruction using skin grafts or local flaps from 2002 to 2021 were enrolled. Patient information was obtained from medical records. Five plastic surgeons evaluated the surgical outcomes based on general appearance, color, contour, and symmetry. Results: Skin grafts were used in eight patients and local flaps were used in 13. Combined reconstructions were employed in four cases. Minor complications arose in four cases but improved with conservative treatment. No major complications were reported. Recurrence of the skin cancer was noted in two cases. All categories showed higher scores for the local flap compared to both skin graft and combined reconstruction; however, the differences were not statistically significant respectively. Conclusion: The choice of appropriate surgical methods for reconstructing defects in the medial canthal region depends on various factors, including the patient's overall health, the size and depth of the defect, and the degree of involvement of surrounding structures. When a local flap is not feasible, a skin graft may provide favorable surgical outcomes. Therefore, a skin graft can serve as a viable alternative for reconstructing the medial canthal region.

Comparative analysis of existing reinforced concrete buildings damaged at different levels during past earthquakes using rapid assessment methods

  • Türkiye is located in a region where destructive earthquakes are frequently experienced due to its geological characteristics and geographical location. Therefore, considering the possibility of a devastating earthquake at any time, determining the reinforced concrete (RC) building seismic safety, constructed before or after the current seismic buildings code, is one of the most important issues to be completed firstly. For this purpose, rapid assessment methods developed to quickly determine the seismic safety of buildings are available in the literature. Comparison of the principles of Principles of the Determination of Risky Structures-2019, Column and Wall Index Method, P25 Scoring Method and Improved Discriminant Analysis Method, which are among these methods, have been aimed within the scope of this study. Within the scope of this paper, a total of 43 buildings in the Yalova/Çınarcık region of Türkiye that the damage level was determined by street observation method immediately after the 1999 Kocaeli (Izmit) Earthquake; 15 buildings with heavy damage and 28 buildings with moderate damage were examined by rapid assessment methods. Although the risk detection difference was not separated as a clear line in any of the methods used, the results obtained from the rapid assessment methods are evaluated as being compatible with the detected after earthquake structural seismic behavior of the buildings. The PDRS-2019 and column and wall index method gave the most approximate results. In the results obtained from the analyzes; structural features such as number of floors, frame continuity, soft/weak story irregularity, effective shear strength area, existence of heavy overhangs in plan, type of structural system have been found to be significantly effective on the earthquake behavior of buildings.

  • Objective : This Study is attempted to compare respiration training method on Sun-Do Training it is quadrivalence. Method : We used all books and paper, journal of inside and outside of the country on Sun-Do Training. Results and Conclusions: 1. Respiration training method on Mu-Eou-Do is spontaneous breathing, breath follows in individual’s respiratory. 2. Respiration training method on Suk-Mun, Guk-Seon-Do, Dan-Hak is all of the position differ, but all considers and breathes naturally abdominal region named Dan-Jeoun, the hypogastric center (丹田). 3. Respiration training method that intend in Guk-seon-do should be soft and slow and long and deep and the moment must not be stoppage. 4. Difference of respiration training method is that region that mean at practice differs. Suk-Mun and Guk-Seon-Do have respiration training method that do with anus as is special in practice process. Dan-Hak thinks that breath has entered as Myung-Mun(命門), means fundamental force.

LDV 스펙트럼 분석을 위한 재생방법의 비교 연구 (A Comparative Study of Reconstruction Methods for LDV Spectral Analysis)

  • A critical evaluation is made of the spectral bias which occurs in the use of a laser doppler velocimeter(LDV). Two processing algorithms are considered for spectral estimates: the sample and hold interpolation method(SH) and the nonuniform Shannon reconstruction technique(SR). Assessment is made of these for varying data densities $(0.05{\le}d.d.{\le}5)$ and turbulence levels(t.i.=30%, 100%). As an improved version of the spectral estimator, the utility of POCS (the projection onto convex sets) has been tested in the present study. This algorithm is found useful to be in the region when $d.d.{\gep}3.$

  • 본 연구에서는 MANET(Mobile Ad hoc NETwork) 환경에서 스카이라인 질의를 하기 위한 효과적인 필터링 방법을 제안한다. 기존의 MANET 환경에서의 스카이라인 질의 처리는 데이터가 균등하게 분포한다고 가정한다. 이러한 가정하에서 제한된 배터리 용량을 위한 에너지 소모 최소화에 중점을 두어 스카이라인 질의를 처리하는 방법을 연구한다. 그러나 실제 환경에서는 특정한 영역에 데이터가 편향되는 분포를 가진다. 배터리의 에너지 소비를 감소하기 위해서 본 논문에서는 데이터 분포를 고려한 새로운 필터링 방법을 제안한다. 그리고 기존의 필터링 방법과 본 논문에서 제안하는 필터링 방법을 비교 실험한다. 실험 결과는 본 논문에서 제안하는 방법이 기존의 방법보다 통신 오버헤드와 실행시간이 감소하는 것을 보여준다.

비디오 얼굴인식을 위한 다중 손실 함수 기반 어텐션 심층신경망 학습 제안 (Attention Deep Neural Networks Learning based on Multiple Loss functions for Video Face Recognition)

  • The video face recognition (FR) is one of the most popular researches in the field of computer vision due to a variety of applications. In particular, research using the attention mechanism is being actively conducted. In video face recognition, attention represents where to focus on by using the input value of the whole or a specific region, or which frame to focus on when there are many frames. In this paper, we propose a novel attention based deep learning method. Main novelties of our method are (1) the use of combining two loss functions, namely weighted Softmax loss function and a Triplet loss function and (2) the feasibility of end-to-end learning which includes the feature embedding network and attention weight computation. The feature embedding network has a positive effect on the attention weight computation by using combined loss function and end-to-end learning. To demonstrate the effectiveness of our proposed method, extensive and comparative experiments have been carried out to evaluate our method on IJB-A dataset with their standard evaluation protocols. Our proposed method represented better or comparable recognition rate compared to other state-of-the-art video FR methods.

초고층 건물과 인접지하구조물의 SSI 해석을 통한 수치해석 프로그램 비교 연구 (A comparative study on the numerical analysis program by SSI analysis of a high-rise building and an adjacent underground structure)

  • 최근 우리나라 전 지역에서 지진이 발생하고 이에 각 분야에서의 내진해석 연구가 활발히 진행되고 있고 지반을 고려하는 SSI 해석 연구 또한 지속적으로 수행되고 있다. 하지만 지반을 고려한 대부분의 기존 동적해석의 경우, 수치해석 방법에 따른 건물의 동적거동에 대한 비교 분석이 부족한 실정이다. 따라서 본 연구에서는 초고층 건물을 대상으로 유한요소 프로그램인 MIDAS GTS NX와 유한차분 프로그램인 FLAC 2D를 사용하여 동적해석을 수행하고, 결과를 비교 분석하고자하였다. 연구 결과, 건물 지상 및 지하부의 휨응력의 경우 최대 압축 및 인장 모두 MIDAS GTS NX가 FLAC 2D보다 다소 크게 발생하였지만, 최대 수평변위값 및 분포양상, 취약부의 위치는 유사하게 나타났다. 따라서 동적해석을 위해 사용자의 편의에 따라 유한요소법이나 유한차분법에 근거한 프로그램 중 어느 것을 사용해도 차이가 없음을 확인하였다.

Sharia Banking Stability Against Macroeconomic Shocks: A Comparative Analysis in the ASEAN Region

  • This study aims to compare the level of stability of the Islamic banking system in the ASEAN region, particularly in Indonesia, Malaysia and Brunei Darussalam in the face of macroeconomic turmoil. The data used in this study is secondary data obtained from the official website of the government and banks of each country, with sampling using purposive sampling technique during the period 2013 to 2019. The data analysis method used is panel data using Eviews software. The results showed that the average Z-score value of Islamic banking during the study period in each country was Indonesia (15.61), Malaysia (15.56) and Brunei Darussalam (19.10). The GDP (X1) has a positive effect on the stability of Islamic banking by 54.29%, inflation (X2) has a negative effect of -12.24% on the stability of Islamic banking, and the exchange rate (X3) has a positive effect on the stability of Islamic banking by 42.58%. The findings of this study indicate that the three countries have an average Z-score value that is higher than 2.99, so this shows that Islamic banking in several ASEAN countries is in a stable condition. In addition, a higher GDP and a stronger exchange rate can also encourage a more stable Islamic banking.
