It is well known that there is an inverse relationship between the strength of Indian summer monsoon Rainfall (ISMR) and extent of Eurasian snow cover/depth in the preceding season. Tibetan snow cover/depth also affects the Asian monsoon rainy season largely. The positive correlation between Tibetan sensible heat flux and southeast Asian rainfall suggest an inverse relationship between Tibetan snow cover and southeast Asian rainfall. Developments in Regional Climate Models suggest that the effect of Tibetan snow on the ISMR can be well studied by Limited Area Models (LAMs). LAMs are used for regional climate studies and operational weather forecast of several hours to 3 days in future. The Eta model developed by the National Center for Environmental Prediction (NCEP), the Fifth-Generation NCAR/Penn State Mesoscale Model (MM5) and Regional Climate Model (RegCM) have been used for weather prediction as well as for the study of present-day climate and variability over different parts of the world. Regional Climate Model (RegCM3) has been widely . used for various mesoscale studies. However, it has not been tested to study the characteristics of circulation features and associated rainfall over India so far. In the present study, Regional Climate Model (RegCM-3) has been integrated from 1 st April to 30th September for the years 1993-1996 and monthly mean monsoon circulation features and rainfall simulated by the model at 55km resolution have been studied for the Indian summer monsoon season. Characteristics of wind at 850hPa and 200hPa, temperature at 500hPa, surface pressure and rainfall simulated by the model have been examined for two convective schemes such as Kuo and Grell with Arakawa-Schubert as the closure scheme, Model simulated monsoon circulation features have been compared with those of NCEP/NCAR reanalyzed fields and the rainfall with those of India Meteorological Department (IMD) observational rainfall datasets, Comparisons of wind and temperature fields show that Grell scheme is closer to the NCEP/NCAR reanalysis, The influence of Tibetan snowdepth in spring season on the summer monsoon circulation features and subsequent rainfall over India have been examined. For such sensitivity experiment, NIMBUS-7 SMMR snowdepth data have been used as a boundary condition in the RegCM3, Model simulation indicates that ISMR is reduced by 30% when 10cm of snow has been introduced over Tibetan region in the month of previous April. The existence of Tibetan snow in RegCM3 also indicates weak lower level monsoon westerlies and upper level easterlies.
The purpose of this study is to analyze drum performance techniques, focusing on the representative artists of funk music, who had a revival starting in the 1970s. The purpose of this study is to analyze the creativity shown in David Garibaldi's playing technique, which had a great influence on drum majors with his funk drum playing technique. As a research method, 'James Brown', 'Earth, Wind & Fire' and 'Tower of Power' with David Garibaldi as drummer were selected as representative bands. For the study period, the drum performance was examined by selecting two representative songs from among the songs released between 1965 and 1975, when the development of the corresponding funk music began. David Garibaldi's creative performance in this study is as follows. First, we tried to create a new rhythm in the form of changing the beat or resting the beat out of the frame of contemporary drum performance. Second, the 'Paradiddle', 'Accent', and 'Swiss Army triplet' rudiment techniques were applied to the entire drum kit, bringing innovation to the rhythm. Third, the samba pattern of Latin rhythm and the form of 'Afro-Cuban' were grafted onto funk music. Fourth, the idea of Unison Rhythm obtained from the structure of Latin music was applied to funk music. Based on this study, it is hoped that research on drum performance techniques of various genres will be conducted.
To investigate the influence of surrounding environment on the plant temperature and examine the effect of plant temperature control by fogging and airflow, plant temperature of tomato, inside and outside air temperature and relative humidity, solar radiation and wind speed were measured and analyzed under various experimental conditions in plastic greenhouse with two-fluid fogging systems and air circulation fans. According to the analysis of plant temperature and the change of inside and outside air temperature in each condition, inside air temperature and plant temperature were significantly higher than outside air temperature in the control and shading condition. However, in the fogging condition, inside air temperature was lower or slightly higher than outside air temperature. It showed that plant temperature could be kept with the temperature similar to or lower than inside air temperature in fogging and airflow condition. To derive the relationship between surrounding environmental factor and plant temperature, we did multiple regression analysis. The optimum regression equation for the temperature difference between plant and air included solar radiation, wind speed and vapor pressure deficit and RMS error was $0.8^{\circ}C$. To investigate whether the fogging and airflow contribute to reduce high temperature stress of plant, photosynthetic rate of tomato leaf was measured under the experimental conditions. Photosynthetic rate was the highest when using both fogging and airflow, and then fogging, airflow and lastly the control. So, we could assume that fogging and airflow can make better effect of plant temperature control to reduce high temperature stress of plant which can increase photosynthetic rate. It showed that the temperature difference between plant and air was highly affected by surrounding environment. Also, we could estimate plant temperature by measuring the surrounding environment, and use it for environment control to reduce the high temperature stress of plant. In addition, by using fogging and airflow, we can decrease temperature difference between plant and air, increase photosynthetic rate, and make proper environment for plants. We could conclude that both fogging and airflow are effective to reduce the high temperature stress of plant.
The terrain features and surface characteristics are the most important elements not only in meteorological modeling but also in air quality modeling. The diurnal evolution of local climate over complex terrain may be significantly controlled by the ground irregularities. Such topographic features can affect a thermally driven flow, either directly by causing changes in the wind direction or indirectly, by inducing significant variations in the ground temperature. Over a complex terrain, these variations are due to the nonuniform distribution of solar radiation, which is highly determined by the ground geometrical characteristics, i.e. slope and orientation. Therefore, the accuracy of prediction of regional scale circulation is strong associated with the accuracy of land-use and topographic information in meso-scale circulation assessment. The objective of this work is a numerical simulation using MM5-A2C model with the detailed topography and land-use information as the surface boundary conditions of the air flow field in mountain regions. Meteorological conditions estimated by MM5-A2C command a great influence on the dispersion of mountain areas with the reasonable feature of topography where there is an important difference in orographic forcing.

In this study, negative air ions, which can increase comfort and positively influence human health, was set as an evaluative factor for school forests. The characteristics, location and microclimate of school forests were examined to determine an effective school forest model for maximum negative air ion generation. It also aimed to provide basic data for the development of urban green fields. The negative air ion concentrations were different according to the green types. The order from the highest to the lowest was: single-layer structure($934ea/cm^3$) > multi-layer structure($794ea/cm^3$) > grass($553ea/cm^3$) > bare ground($529ea/cm^3$). As for the correlation with microclimate, negative air ion concentration was negatively correlated with temperature. The negative air ion concentration was significantly different according to planting type. The negative air ion concentration was higher at single-layer structure sites than at multi-layer structure sites, which appears to indicate that the temperature is higher when the vegetation structure was single-layer compared to multi-layer. Wind speed was higher at the single-layer planted site than at the multi-layer planted site. The vegetation wind shielding effect was lower at single-layer planted sites than at multi-layer planted sites. The single-layer planted site provided more favorable conditions for the generation and dispersion of negative air ions.

Electric pole is a supporting beam used for power transmission/distribution which accelerometer are used for measuring a external force. The meteorological condition has various effects on the external forces of electric pole. One of them is the elasticity change of the aerial wire. It is very important to perform modelling. The acceleration sensor is converted into a pitch and a roll angle. The meteorological condition has a high correlation between variables, and selecting significant explanatory variables for modeling may result in the problem of over-fitting. We constructed high deviance explained model considering multicollinearity using the Generalized Additive Model which is one of the machine learning methods. As a result of the Variation Inflation Factor Test, we selected and fitted the significant variable as temperature, precipitation, wind speed, wind direction, air pressure, dewpoint, hours of daylight and cloud cover. It was noted that the Hours of daylight, cloud cover and air pressure has high explained value in explonatory variable. The average coefficient of determination (R-Squared) of the Generalized Additive Model was 0.69. The constructed model can help to predict the influence on the external forces of electric pole, and contribute to the purpose of securing safety on utility pole.

In order to investigate the effect of various pavement materials (artificial grass, natural grass, and clay sand) on the human thermal environment, the microclimate data in early autumn (air temperature, humidity, wind speed, and shortwave and longwave radiation) were measured and compared on each surface. The mean air temperature, humidity and wind speed of the pavement materials did not differ significantly and showed the greatest difference in the mean radiant temperature. Natural grass, which has the highest albedo, has the highest amount of shortwave radiation. The artificial turf had the highest surface temperature and the highest amount of longwave radiation. In the human thermal environment index PET, artificial grass > clay sand > natural grass. Natural grass had a maximum 2/3 level lower and a mean 1/2 level lower in PET as compared to artificial grass. The clay sand pavement had a maximum 2/3 level lower and a mean 1/3 level lower than the artificial grass. Natural grass had a maximum 1/3 level lower than the clay sand pavement. Their UTCIs showed smaller differences than the PETs. Therefore, it is necessary to carefully choose materials from the planning stage when designing outdoor spaces, including playgrounds.
In this study, the physical and chemical analyses of petroleum residues (pyrolized fuel oil, PFO) were conducted and major components were selected to investigate their fire and explosion characteristics. Major component distribution areas of the PFO were identified via the GC-SIMDIS and MALDI-TOF analyses. In addition, the qualitative analysis of major component distribution areas was performed by GC-MS analysis. Major components of pyrolysis residue were selected based on the results of various analyses such as EA, SARA and TGA. As a result, benzene, toluene and xylene were selected as major components. Finally, the process hazard analysis software tool (PHAST) analysis was performed to investigate the range of maximum damage effect in case of fire and explosion. Toluene presented the highest risk due to the radiation effect of $227kW/m^2$ and 118 m in the case of jet fire. Xylene and benzene showed the maximum radiant heat values of 114 and $151kW/m^2$, respectively. It was also confirmed from the analysis of pasquill stability and wind speed that the radiant heat increased up to 55% according to wind speed in benzene, which was considered to be a main factor increasing the influence range.
This experiment was conducted to investigate the influence of temperature variation by the different ventilation methods on the growth and quality of oriental melon in greenhouse of tunnel type 1. The dropping effect in temperature by ventilation types was best at type 3 and those of type 2, type 1 were in order. 2. The temperature distribution in type 3 was uniformed as air- inflow and air- outflow by wind ventilation were easier than others. Whereas the temperature of type 1 having lateral ventilation hole and type 2 having the zenith ventilation tube and lateral ventilation hole was ascended, because small ventilation area of ventilation tube and hole could not make the gravity and wind ventilation successfully. 3. When compared with air amount of three types ventilated by the temperature difference of outside and inside of tunnel type house, that of type 3 was more than those of type 1 and type 2. 4. Type 3 was better than type 2 and type 1 in lear numbers, leaf area, fruit weight, flesh thickness, malformed fruit rate, and marketable fruit rate. 5. Marketable fruit rate of all treatment at each harvesting stages was rised, as goes to the latter periods.

This study aims to analyze determinants of mountainous and coastal area's housing value caused by the characteristics of the natural environment. As the current issue of housing value is throwing the spotlight on the climate change recently, environmental features are significantly important than before. There were a lot of studies on the influence of environmental characteristics to the housing price but these studies were mostly dealing with the housing price in especially apartments nearby Han-river in Seoul, South Korea. To have differences with existing studies, environmental characteristics estimating housing value are classified as 8 elements including the view, the wind speed, and the humidity. The result of this study is in following; there were few significant environmental variables in mountainous housing value growth model. This means people living in mountainous area recognize on environmental factors more such as housing or complex characteristics. People living in coastal area are much more sensitive environment variables in their residence value than mountainous area. Especially, the view for the ocean is the most important variable in housing value, and wind speed is second positively significant. Humidity and safety of disaster are negatively significant variables.
