과학영재아와 일반아의 기질 및 시험불안과의 관계 (The Temperament and Test-Anxiety of Science Gifted and General Students)

  • 본 연구의 목적은 과학영재아의 기질특성을 분석하고 이 기질 특성이 시험불안과 어떤 관계가 있는가를 알아보는 것이다. 연구대상은 대학부설과학영재교육원에서 교육받고 있는 92명의 중학생 과학영재아들과 97명의 전주시내에 소재한 중학교 1학년 일반아들이다. 측정도구는 개정판기질차원척도(Revised Dimensions of Temperament Survey: DOTS-R)를 사용하였다. 연구결과 과학영재아는 일반아에 비하여 집중성, 지속성 및 접근성 기질이 높게 나타났다. 이에 비하여 일반집단은 활동성, 융통성, 긍정성 기질이 높게 나타났다. 또한 영재아와 일반아의 우세기질에 대한 검증 결과 기질 특성에 유의한 차이가 있었는데 과학영재집단은 지속성 기질이, 일반집단은 융통성 기질이 우세기질로 나타났다. 과학영재아와 일반아의 기질 특성과 시험불안의 상관관계분석에서 과학영재아는 접근성, 지속성이 부적상관을 보였고, 일반집단은 집중성이 부적상관을 보였으며, 활동성은 두 집단 모두에서 정적상관을 보였다. 즉 활동성 기질은 시험불안을 높이는 요인으로 작용하고 있는 것으로 나타났다. 연구결과는 과학영재아를 판별하기 위한 목적보다는 그들의 기질적 특성을 최대한 파악하여 과학영재의 기질특성에 맞는 학습활동을 제공하는데 활용되어져야 할 것이며 연구결과의 일반화를 위하여 대상범위를 확대할 필요가 있다.

  • The purpose of this study was to examine the effects of the creative problem solving and scientific attitude through the science-based STEAM program for the elementary gifted students. For the purpose of this study, a teaching plan and worksheet for students based on STEAM was developed and applied. The objects of this study were the fourth grade of both an experimental class (18 students) and a comparative class (20 students) at the gifted class located in Gyeonggi Province. The results of this study were as follows: First, the change in students' science creative problem solving in the experimental group applying science-based STEAM program has statistically meaningful difference (p<.05). Second, the scientific attitude score of the experimental class improved, but it has no meaningful difference statistically. Third, according to the analysis of questionnaire for evaluating the program, experimental class students had a positive recognition in respect of the STEAM program and got higher satisfaction about the lesson. Therefore, science-based STEAM program applied in this study might be useful to improve the creative problem solving, and can be expected the scientific attitude' improving and better be widely applied to gifted education.

  • In this study, we investigated and compared the types of analogy generation processes and the perceptions of analogy generation on saturated solution of fifth grade scientifically-gifted and general elementary students. After the instruction of self-generating analogies on 'saturated solution' concept for two classes, 12 scientifically-gifted and 8 general elementary students were interviewed to explore their analogy generation processes and the perceptions of the abilities required in the processes, the conditions of good analogies, and the advantages/disadvantages of analogy generation. The results revealed that their analogy generation processes were classified into three types. The scientifically-gifted students generated the analogies in more systematic and efficient ways and had better understanding of the important parts in the processes than the general elementary students. They also suggested more concrete and various ideas about the conditions of good analogies. Many scientifically-gifted and general elementary students thought that analogy generation would have positive influences on the developments of the cognitive aspects such as various higher-level thinking abilities and understanding of science concepts as well as the affective aspects such as science learning motivation and interest. Educational implications of these findings are discussed.

과학영재교육에서의 상대론적 개념에 대한 학생 사례 분석 (An investigation of students' understanding of relativity for the gifted education in science)

  • 고등학생 과학영재를 대상으로 하는 상대론 교육을 위해, 과학영재학교로 지정된 부산과학고등학교의 학생 사례 분석을 통한 상대론적 개념 이해에 대한 연구를 제시한다. 특수 상대론이라는 현대 물리 분야에서 발생하는 학생들의 이해도 변화 및 가능한 원인들을 조사하였다. 사전 조사와 사후 조사의 비교 분석에 의하면, 상대론적 개념들에 대한 학생들의 이해 정도가 교육을 통해 전반적으로 향상된 것으로 나타났다. 또한, 학생 사례 분석을 통해 상대론적 개념에 대한 학생들의 이해 및 오개념을 살펴보았다. 학생들이 상대성 원리의 타당성, 광속 불변의 원리가 고전 물리학에 미치는 영향 등에 대해 낮은 이해도를 가지는 것으로 나타났다. 이러한 낮은 이해도를 보이는 개념들에 대한 조사는 고등학생 과학영재의 올바른 개냄 형성을 위한 교육방안 고안에 여러 가지 기여를 할 것으로 보인다.

생태체험장 봉사활동이 영재학생들의 환경민감도 및 상태-특성불안에 미치는 효과 (The Effect of Volunteer Work at the Place of Ecology Experience on the Environmental Sensitivity & State-Trait Anxiety of the Gifted Students)

  • Today, the importance of environmental education is a matter we are all concerned about. The environment surrounding us, such as the air we breathe, the water we drink, and the soil plants grow in, is critical for our survival. Currently there is a lot of interest in environmental education at the elementary, middle, and high school levels. This is a result of the deep recognition of the importance of the environment. However the environmental education being conducted in schools is not yet at a satisfactory level. The practical issues, including an entrance exam-oriented atmosphere, student' and parents' lack of understanding, and teachers' lack of expertise in environmental education, interfere with the stability of environmental curriculum in the schools. Accordingly, we need to devise an alternative environmental curriculum due to the fact that it hasn't been included as a regular subject in the curriculum of many national schools. This study, carried out from April to December 2009, was an examination of the effect of volunteer work at the place of ecology experience on the environmental sensitivity & state-trait anxiety of the 61 Gifted Students. The students were divided into two groups. The test group consisted of 30 gifted students who did volunteer work at the place of ecology experience run by Ulsan Science High School, in Ulsan Metropolitan City. The control group consisted of the rest of the students. The following are the study results: First, the volunteer work at the place of ecology experience was influential in increasing the environmental sensitivity of the gifted students. Second, the volunteer work at the place of ecology experience was influential in decreasing the state anxiety of in gifted students. Third, the volunteer work at the place of ecology experience was influential in decreasing the trait anxiety of in gifted students. Fourth, the volunteer work at the place of ecology experience positively influenced not only the gifted students' view of environmental education, but also their overall character.

초등 영재학생과 일반학생들의 지구과학 영역에서 과학 글쓰기에 대한 분석 (An analysis of Scientific Writing about Earth Science Area by Gifted and Average Elementary School Students)

  • With five gifted and nine average elementary school students, this study attempted to make a comparative analysis on the characteristics of their scientific writings for earth science-related topics. The analysis found that all of the gifted students showed higher scores than the average in the writing sections of scientific nature, logical nature and creativity. Compared to the average scores, their creativity scores were far higher. By comparing and analyzing the predicates in the writings two groups wrote, I found that the gifted students used more sentences per topic than the average students. Both groups wrote the most numbers of sentences for Volcano-related topics. In the meantime, the gifted children used the least numbers of sentences for the related topics to atmospheric pollution and the average students did so for the related topics to fossils. By the analysis on the patterns of predicate, it was observed that both groups used material predicates most and verbal predicates least. As far as the second most used predicates are concerned, the gifted children used relational predicates and the average students used mental predicates.

초등 영재학생의 영재학급과 일반학급에서의 교우관계 분석 (A Study of Gifted Students' Peer Relationship in an Elementary School's General and Gifted Classes)

  • 교우 관계는 학생들의 인지적, 정의적 발달에 영향을 주는 학습의 중요 변인 중 하나이다. 또한 일반 학생들과 차별적인 프로그램에 속해 있는 영재학생들은 일반학급 학생들에 비하여 다른 교우 관계를 가지고 있다. 이 연구 목적은 초등학교 5학년 과학영재학생들의 영재학급과 일반학급에서 나타나는 교우관계의 구조적 차이를 파악하는 것이다. 이 연구를 위하여 남부권 소재 시교육청 영재교육원에 수학중인 5명의 초등 과학영재들이 참여하였다. 사회네트워크 분석 방법을 통하여 참여 학생들의 교우관계 구조를 분석하였으며, 해당 영재 학생의 담임교사 면담을 통하여 학생들의 교우 관계에서 나타나는 심층적이고 맥락적인 특징을 분석하였다. 연구결과 과학영재들의 교우관계에 대하여 '똑똑한 외톨이', '나의 공부친구', '우리 반에서는 내가 최고', '어디서나 좋은 친구'의 네 가지 경우를 발견할 수 있었다. 이를 통해 과학영재들이 영재학급과 일반학급에서 다양한 방식으로 교우관계를 맞고 있는 것을 확인할 수 있었다. 이 연구는 영재 학생들의 교우 관계를 바탕으로 그들의 프로그램이 특별히 계획되어야 하는 것을 보여준다.

과학캠프 운영이 초등과학영재의 과학탐구능력 및 과학적 태도에 미치는 효과 (The Effects of The Science Camp Program on Science Process Skills and Scientific Attitudes for The Elementary Scientific Gifted Students)

  • 본 연구는 초등과학영재를 위한 과학캠프의 운영이 초등과학영재의 과학탐구능력과 과학적 태도에 미치는 효과를 알아보고, 과학캠프에 대한 초등과학영재의 인식은 어떠한지 알아보기 위해 계획되었다. 과학캠프는 '우주과학 창의체험 스쿨'이란 주제로 2012년 1월 14일부터 1월 17일까지 초등과학영재를 대상으로 3박 4일 동안 전남 고흥군 동일면에 위치한 K청소년 우주체험센터 및 우주과학관 일대에서 진행되었다. 과학캠프 프로그램은 K청소년 우주체험센터에서 개발된 체험활동 프로그램을 본 연구의 목적에 맞도록 천문우주과학 영역과 항공우주과학 영역으로 구분하여 총 30차시로 재구성하여 운영하였다. 과학캠프가 초등과학영재의 과학탐구능력 및 과학적 태도에 미치는 효과를 검증하기 위하여 실험처치 사전-사후에 과학탐구능력, 과학적 태도 검사를 실시하였고, 과학캠프의 효과성에 대한 초등과학영재의 인식을 조사하기 위해 설문지를 제작하여 사용하였다. 연구의 결과 분석은 과학탐구능력 및 과학적 태도 검사는 t-검정으로 분석하였고, 과학캠프에 대한 인식조사는 설문지에 대해 반응한 응답을 분석하였다. 연구의 결과는 과학캠프 체험학습은 초등과학영재의 과학탐구능력(t=8.649, p=.000)에 긍정적인 효과가 있었고(p<.05), 과학적 태도(t=3.431, p=.003)에도 긍정적인 효과가 있었다(p<.05). 따라서 과학캠프 운영은 초등과학영재의 과학탐구능력과 과학탐구능력에 긍정적인 효과가 있었으며, 과학캠프 운영에 대한 인식은 과학캠프의 운영에 대해 대체로 만족하였고, 프로그램의 효과성에 대한 인식은 탐구력, 활용도, 자기계발에 많은 도움이 되는 것으로 조사되었다.

생물분류과정에서 과학영재학생과 일반학생의 안구운동 비교 분석 (Comparative Analysis of Eye Movement on Performing Biology Classification Task between the Scientifically Gifted and General Elementary Students)

  • The purpose of this study was to identify the differences in eye movement pattern shown in shown in classification process between the scientifically gifted and general students in elementary schools. The subjects for the research consisted of 16 gifted students in special education center for the gifted at Seoul National University of Education and 22 general students at G elementary schools. The tasks consisted of four hierarchical biology classification tasks and one non-hierarchical tasks. SMI's Eye Tracker (iView $X^{TM}$ RED) was used to collect eye movement data while the Begaze software analyzed the task performing process and eye movements. The findings of this study were twofold. First, there was a significant difference in students' fixation duration by students' academic achievement level. Gifted students spent little time on scanning details and found the features successfully. Second, the process of the classification is different by students' academic achievement. General students spent more time to gaze the salient features not relevant features. They had a difficulty to find the element to classify.

STEAM 프로그램이 초등영재학생의 과학적 의사소통능력과 학습몰입에 미치는 영향 (The Effects of STEAM Program on the Scientific Communication Skills and the Learning Flow of Elementary Gifted Students)

  • The purpose of this study is to find out the effect of STEAM program on the scientific communication skills and the learning flow of elementary gifted students. The main findings of this study are as follows: First, STEAM program that mathematical, technical, engineering and art factors were combined based on basic concepts of science were developed. Seconds, the change in the scientific communication skills of experimental group applying STEAM program had statistically meaningful difference (p<.05). Third, the flow of experimental class improved, but it had no meaningful difference statistically (p>.05). But it is expected that continuing level adjusted STEAM program might have positive effect on improving the flow with the following three reasons: 1) The gifted students' flow level on learning before experiment was rather too high to expect short term effect. 2) It was hard for them to achieve flow experience because topic difficulties and students' capacities were not balanced. 3) topic commitments and autotelic behaviors of gifted students were observed during classes. Fourth, by the result of the student satisfaction questionnaire survey on this program, students actively participated in the STEAM program with interest and curiosity. As achieved self-directed problem solving, versatile communication activities and success experiences, their class satisfaction was high. Based on such results, it was expected that the gifted class applied of STEAM program could enhance scientific communication capacity of the elementary gifted students and would further positively influence flow of learning as well. In addition, it was considered to have integrated approach value to elementary gifted and talented education in the aspect that it could satisfy various educational demands of gifted students.
