고구마 조직의 가열변화에 대한 반응속도론적 상수 결정 (Determination of Kinetic Parameters for Texture Changes of Sweet Potatoes during Heating)

  • 가열에 의한 품종별 고구마 조직의 변화에 대한 반응속도론적 상수를 biphasic model과 fractional conversion method를 사용하여 결정하였다. Biphasic model에 따라 고구마의 가열에 의한 조직의 변화는 2단계의 연속적인 1차 반응식으로 표시할 수 있었으며, 활성화에너지는 고구마의 품종에 따라 $71.0{\sim}75.1\;kJ/mol$$48.4{\sim}59.6\;kJ/mol$이었다. 또한 고구마의 가열에 의한 조직변화를 fractional conversion method를 사용하여 1개의 1차 반응식으로 표시할 수 있었는데, 이 때의 활성화에너지는 $67.5{\sim}75.3\;kJ/mol$로서 biphasic model에 의한 제 1단계의 반응에 대한 값과 유사한 값을 나타냈다. 이들 방법으로 결정된 반응속도론적 상수들 사이에는 kinetic compensation 효과가 있었으며, 두 방법 모두 고구마의 가열에 의한 조직변화에 대한 반응속도론적 상수들을 결정하는데 적용할 수 있음을 알 수 있었다.

  • Conventional integral slot design tend to have a high cogging torque and large end turns which contribute to copper losses. The fractional slot is more effective compared to integral slot in the cogging torque and EMF waveform. The effectiveness of fractional slot can be maximized by selecting optimal pole to slot ratio. This paper presents the effect of pole to slot ratio on the cogging torque and EMF waveform in the fractional slotted permanent magnet(PM) motor. The effectiveness of the proposed designs had been confirmed by comparing cogging torque, and EMF waveform between conventional and new models which are analyzed by Finite Element Method(FEM).

DYNAMICS OF GUN VIOLENCE BY LEGAL AND ILLEGAL FIREARMS: A FRACTIONAL DERIVATIVE APPROACH

  • Crime committed by civilians and criminals using legal and illegal firearms and conversion of legal firearms into illegal ones has become a common practice around the world. As a result, policies to control civilian gun ownership have been debated in several countries. The issue arose because the linkages between firearm-related mortality, weapon accessibility, and violent crime data can imply diverse options for addressing criminality. In this paper, we have projected a mathematical model in terms of the Caputo fractional derivative to address the issues viz. input of legal guns, crime committed by legal and illegal guns, and strict government policies to monitor the license of legal guns, strict action against violent crime. The boundedness, existence and uniqueness of solutions and the stability of points of equilibrium are examined. It is observed that violent crime increases with the increase of crime committed by illegal guns, crime committed by legal guns and, decreases with the increase of legal guns, the deterrent effect of civilian gun ownership, and action of law against crime. Further, legal guns increase with the increase of the limitation of trade of illegal guns and decrease with the increase of conversion of legal guns into illegal guns and increase of the growth rate of illegal guns. Again, as crime is committed by legal guns also, the policy of illegal gun control does not assure a crime-free society. Weak gun control can lead to a society with less crime. Theoretical aspects are numerically verified in the present work.

유리차수 미분을 이용한 위치제어기 구현 (Position Controller Implementation Using the Fractional Order Derivative)

  • 본 연구는 유리차수 미분의 수학적인 방법을 시스템의 응답을 제어하는 제어기에 적용하고자 한다. 일반적인 PID제어기의 라플라스 변환은 s의 정수지수를 갖게 된다. 유리차수의 미분은 라플라스 변환에서 s에 대한 유리수 지수를 갖게 된다. 따라서 이를 제어기로 구성하기 위해서는 유리수 지수에 대한 설계가 적절하지 않아 이산시간으로 변환하여 설계하는 방법을 제안한다. 이를 표준 2차 시스템에 적용하여 성능을 살펴보고, 산업현장에서 많이 사용되는 솔레노이드밸브에 적용한다. 외란 상태의 추정이 가능하도록 루엔버거 관측기를 설계하고 관측된 상태에 대하여 유리차수 제어기를 적용하여 균일하며 정밀한 제어성능을 얻을 수 있었다. 정상상태의 위치오차가 0.1 [%]이내이고, 기동시간이 약 0.3 [s]이내의 정밀하며 균일한 위치제어성능 가짐을 확인할 수 있었다.

Measurement of Fractional Exhaled Nitric Oxide in Adults: Comparison of Two Different Analyzers (NIOX VERO and NObreath)

  • Background: Fractional exhaled nitric oxide (FeNO) is a non-invasive marker for eosinophilic airway inflammation and a good predictor of response to corticosteroids. There is a need for a reliable and accurate measurement method, as FeNO measurements have been widely used in clinical practice. Our study aimed to compare two FeNO analyzers and derive a conversion equation for FeNO measurements in adults. Methods: We included 99 participants who had chief complaints of chronic cough and difficulty in breathing. The participants underwent concurrent FeNO measurement using NIOX VERO (Circassia AB) and NObreath (Bedfont). We compared the values of the two devices and analyzed their correlation and agreement. We then formulated an equation to convert FeNO values measured by NObreath into those obtained by NIOX VERO. Results: The mean age of the participants was 51.2±17.1 years, with a female predominance (58.6%). Approximately 60% of the participants had asthma. The FeNO level measured by NIOX VERO (median, 27; interquartile range [IQR], 15-45) was significantly lower than that measured by NObreath (median, 38; IQR, 22-58; p<0.001). There was a strong positive correlation between the two devices (r=0.779, p<0.001). Additionally, Bland-Altman plots and intraclass correlation coefficient demonstrated a good agreement. Using linear regression, we derived the following conversion equation: natural log (Ln) (NObreath)=0.728×Ln (NIOX VERO)+1.244. Conclusion: The FeNO values of NIOX VERO and NObreath were in good agreement and had positive correlations. Our proposed conversion equation could help assess the accuracy of the two analyzers.

납사타르피치의 연소 및 수증기 가스화 반응특성 (Characteristics of Steam Gasification and Combustion of Naphtha Tar Pitch)

  • 납사타르피치의 연소 및 수증기 가스화의 반응특성을 알아보기 위하여 납사타르피치를 탄소원으로 사용하여 열중량분석을 수행하였다. 반응의 활성화에너지, 반응차수, 빈도인자 등을 구하기 위하여 Friedman 방법과 Ozawa-Flynn-Wall 방법이 사용되었다. Friedman 방법을 사용하여 반응전환에 따른 연소의 활성화에너지를 구하였는데, 0.2~0.6 정도의 전환이 일어났을 때는 활성화에너지가 41.6~68.1 kJ/g-mol이었다. 0.9~1.0 정도의 전환이 일어났을 때는 183.1~191.2kJ/g-mol이었다. 그리고 수증기 가스화에 대해서는, 0.2~0.6 반응전환에서 활성화에너지는 31.9~44.9 kJ/g-mol이었다. 0.8~0.95 전환에서는 70.6~87.8 kJ/g-mol이었다. 이러한 결과로 미루어보아 반응은 탈휘발화와 연소 또는 가스화 반응의 두 단계로 진행되는 것을 알 수 있었다.

  • It is well known that solid-state devices like inverter and converter made by transistor and other semi-conductors are widely used for the purpose of motor speed control in industrial fields. This paper is devoted primarily to a study of Trial Manufacturing of Solid-state Frequency Converter by means of single-phase bridge-type SCR inverter. The principle of the trial product belongs to AC-DC-AC conversion system. The voltage to be impressed to the motor in case of speed control by frequency conversion method is necessary to be proportional to frequency. It also requires the frequency and voltage are independent to hte load variation. In order to meet above requests required to motor speed control., the trial product introduced the open loop system in the frequency setting and closed loop system in the voltage setting. The trial product showed the favorable performance characteristics in speed control of singlephase fractional horsepower motor from 45HZ through 80HZ.

Optimization of Magnet Pole of BLDC Motor by Experimental Design Method

  • The finite element method (FEM) is typically used in the process of motor design. However, the FEM requires computation time, Therefore, decreasing the number of FEM simulations may also decrease the simulation cost. Several optimal design methods overcoming this problem have been recently studied. This paper investigates the optimal design of the magnet pole of a BLDC motor through reducing simulation cost. The optimization minimizes the magnet volume and limits the average and cogging torques to certain values. In this paper, the response surface methodology and Taguchi's table for reducing the number of FEM simulations are used to approximate two constraints. The optimization result shows that the presented strategy is satisfactorily performed.

LaMnO3 비등온 합성반응의 열적특성 (Thermal Characteristics of LaMnO3 Non-isothermal Synthesis Reaction)

  • 비등온의 열중량분석기(TGA)에 의해 nitrate-citrate 혼합물의 전구체로부터 $LaMnO_3$ 합성반응의 열적특성과 반응특성을 고찰하였다. TGA의 승온속도는 5.0, 10.0, 15.0, 20.0 K/min으로 조정하였다. $LaMnO_3$ 합성반응은 승온속도의 변화에 따라 450~600 K (X=0.4~0.7)에서 빠르게 진행되었다. $LaMnO_3$ 합성반응의 활성화에너지는 Friedman, Ozawa-Flynn-Wall 그리고 Vyazovkin의 방법으로 해석하였는데, 반응전환율의 변화에 따라 23~243 kJ/g-mol 범위 값을 나타내었다. 반응차수는 승온속도와 반응전환율이 증가함에 따라 감소하였다. 반응차수의 평균값은 반응전환율이 0.1~0.3의 범위인 반응초기에는 4.5이었으며, 반응전환율이 0.7~0.9 범위인 반응의 종결 부분에서는 1.87이었다. 반응속도의 빈도인자는 승온속도와 반응전환율의 증가에 따라 점차 증가하였다. 반응속도의 빈도인자(frequency factor)는 반응전환율이 0.1~0.3인 경우에는 205.6 ($min^{-1}$)이었으며 반응전환율이 0.7~0.9인 경우에는 475.2 ($min^{-1}$)이었다.

Study of 3-Ketosteroid Dehydrogenase System Using Whole-cell-enzyme from Arthrobacter simplex

  • A new assay method for delta-l-dehydrogenated-3-ketoco-rticosteroid in the presence of proteinous material or whole-cell-enzyme and 3-ketocorticosteroid has been developed. This method makes use of the linear relationship between the ratio of absorbances at 265 nm and at 242 nm and the fractional concentration of delta-1-3-ketosteroid. Theoretical values were calculated based on the absorbances of proteinous material at fixed concentrations of the 3-ketosteroid and delta-1-dehydrogenated-3-ketosteroid. The values obtained experimentally showed good agreement with the values obtained experimentally showed good agreement with the values theoretically predicted. The new assay method developed for the steroid mixtiure containing proteinous material is of some practical importance. The use of such assay method enables one to determine the enzyme activity and the rate of enzyme reaction or conversion rather quickly, easily and accurately. By the use of this assay method, the reaction kinetics of whole-cell-enzyme has also been studied. It was found that it followed the simple Michaelis-Menten type enzyme kinetics. Also the reversibility of this reaction with actively metabolizing cell was examined. It was found that delta-l-dehydrogenated-3-ketosteroid could not be hydrogenated reversibly to 3-ketosteroid by this enzyme system.
