In this paper we propose an emotional expression method using a comic model and special marks for effective sign-language communications. Until now we have investigated to produce more realistic facial and emotional expression. When representing only emotional expression, however, a comic expression could be better than the real picture of a face. The comic face is a comic-style expression model in which almost components except the necessary parts like eyebrows, eyes, nose and mouth are discarded. In the comic model, we can use some special marks for the purpose of emphasizing various emotions. We represent emotional expression using Action Units(AU) of Facial Action Coding System(FACS) and define Special Unit(SU) for emphasizing the emotions. Experimental results show a possibility that the proposed method could be used efficiently for sign-language image communications.

This study explored the relationship between children's emotional competence, aggression and peer relationships. Participants were 164 third and 134 fourth grade children from five elementary schools in Seoul and Chenan. Emotional competence, aggression and peer relationships were assessed by means of a questionnaire, interview and observation. Results indicated that emotional understanding of self and others, sex, age, emotional expression and passive regulation strategies were significant variables in predicting children's aggression. Emotional understanding was the most predictable variable in relation to peer relationships. Emotional understanding, emotional regulation and emotional expression made independent contributions to aggression and peer relationships. Mediation analyses revealed that the significant connections between children's emotional competence and negative peer relationships were mostly mediated by aggression.

본 연구는 직장인의 정서표현신념이 전문적 도움추구 태도에 미치는 영향에서 정서표현 양가성과 심리적 유연성의 이중매개효과를 검증하고자 하였다. 이를 위하여, 19세 이상의 직장인 346명(남 176명, 여 170명)을 대상으로 연구를 진행하였다. 연구참여자들에게 정서표현신념, 정서표현 양가성, 심리적 유연성, 전문적 도움추구 태도를 측정하는 설문을 실시한 뒤 SPSS와 Macro를 활용하여 분석을 실시하였다. 주요 결과를 요약하면, 첫째, 정서표현신념, 정서표현 양가성, 심리적 유연성, 전문적 도움추구 태도 간에 유의미한 상관이 나타났다. 둘째, 정서표현신념과 전문적 도움추구 태도의 관계에서 심리적 유연성의 매개역할은 유의미하였고, 정서표현 양가성의 매개효과는 유의미하지 않았다, 셋째, 정서표현신념이 정서표현 양가성과 심리적 유연성을 거쳐 전문적 도움추구 태도로 이어지는 이중매개효과가 유의하였다. 이를 통해 직장인의 전문적 도움추구 태도 형성 과정을 이해하고 이들의 도움추구를 도울 수 있는 개입방안을 모색하고자 한다.

The purposes of this study were to assess children's emotional competence, to examine whether there was a difference in children's emotional competence according to their gender, and to investigate the relationship between children's emotional competence and their play behavior. The subjects of this study were 104 four-year-old children(56 boys, 48 girls). Collected data were analyzed by frequency, percentage, means, standard deviation and Pearson's correlation. The results were as follows : First, there was meaningful correlation among the emotional competence measured by teacher, the understanding and expression of emotion and the emotional regulation measured by mother. Second, there was difference in children's emotional competence according to gender. Specifically, girls showed better competence in the socio-behavioral emotional competence and the understanding and expression of emotion than boys. Third, the dramatic play and the group play had some meaningful correlation with the emotional competence measured by teacher and the understanding and expression of emotion measured by mother.

This study examined the mediating effects of self-esteem on the mothers' parenting behavior, emotional expression and the creative personality of the children. A survey was conducted in Kwang ju and Chonnam of 259 mothers with children from 3-5 years old. Based on the data, Pearson's correlations between variables were analyzed, and hierarchical regression analyses were conducted to identify the direct and indirect effects of the mothers' parenting behavior, emotional expression and self-esteem on the creative personality of the children. The study found significant correlations among all four variables studied. In particular, self-esteem acted as a partial mediator in the relationship between the mothers' parenting behavior, emotional expression and creative personality of the children. The results suggest that increasing self-esteem in mothers may edify the creative personality in their children.

This study examined the relationships among children's attachment to the mother, trait anger, anger expression style, and emotional-behavioral problems in children. The subjects were 384 5th and 6th graders at elementary schools in J and G cities of Jeonbuk-Do. The instruments were Revised Inventory of Parent and Peer Attachment (IPPA-R), Stat-Trait Anger Expression Inventory - Korean version (STAXI-K), and Strength and Difficulty Questionnaire (SDQ). The major results are as follows; The level of children's attachment to the mother was negatively related to anger and emotional-behavioral problems, and the level of trait anger was positively related to emotional-behavioral problems. Children who have high anger expression and anger suppression tended to show more externalized behavior problems. Finally, the regression analysis showed that children's attachment to the mother and anger are revealed as significant factors in emotional-behavioral problems.

Objective: The purpose of this research was to examine the moderating effect of children's negative emotionality on the relationship between maternal attitude toward children's emotional expression based on the differential susceptibility model. Methods: Participants were 216 preschool children including 116 boys and 100 girls from day care centers and preschools located in Chungchung province and Seoul. EAS was used to measure the children's negative emotionality. The children's empathy quotient was used to measure empathy. Mothers reported their attitude toward children's emotional expression. Results: The results revealed that the association between empathy and maternal suppression of children's emotional expression was significant only for the children with high levels of negative emotionality. Moreover, the magnitude of association between empathy and maternal acceptance of children's emotional expression was greater for high levels of negative emotionality. Conclusion/Implications: It was concluded that these findings supported the differential susceptibility model.

디지털 콘텐츠에서 구현되는 가상 캐릭터를 효과적으로 개발하기 위해서는 감성 상태(기쁨, 슬픔, 공포, 화남)가 제대로 전달되도록 하는 것이 중요하다. 이 연구에서는 가상 캐릭터의 얼굴표정과 몸짓이 표현하는 감성 상태의 일치여부에 따라서 사용자가 가상 캐릭터의 감성 상태를 어떻게 지각하며, 가상 캐릭터의 몸짓을 어떻게 평가하는가를 검증하였다. 이를 위하여 몸짓과 얼굴표정의 감성표현을 동일하게 구성한 일치조건, 정반대의 감성표현으로 구성된 불일치조건, 그리고 무표정한 얼굴표정으로 구현된 통제집단을 구성했다. 연구결과에 따르면 슬픔 조건에서 의도된 감성 상태가 제대로 전달되지 않았을 뿐만 아니라 오히려 화난 것으로 지각되었다. 그러나 나머지 감성 상태에서는 몸짓과 얼굴표정의 일치여부는 의도된 감성 전달에 영향을 미치지 않았다. 감성 상태의 표현에 대한 가상 캐릭터의 전체적인 몸짓에 대한 평가에서는 기쁨을 표현한 몸짓이 불일치 조건의 얼굴표정을 갖게 될 때, 평가 점수가 낮았다. 가상 캐릭터의 감성을 표현할 때는 얼굴 표정도 중요하지만 몸짓 자체의 감성표현이 전반적으로 결정적인 역할을 수행하고 있음을 확인할 수 있었다. 가상 캐릭터의 성별이나 연령과 같은 사회적 단서에 대한 연구의 필요성을 설명했다.

The purpose of this study examined the path model of maternal emotional expression, temperament and self-esteem on emotion regulation among children. The subjects were 487 5th and 6th graders. Data was gathered through questionnaires reported by children and their mothers and analyzed by structural equation modeling. The results showed that children's 'activity level' temperament and maternal negative emotional expression directly affected maladaptive emotion regulation. Children's 'emotionality' temperament and maternal positive emotional expression directly affected adaptive emotion regulation. Children's 'approach-flexibility' temperament and self-esteem directly affected both maladaptive and adaptive emotion regulation. Maternal emotional expression and children's self-esteem mediated between children's temperament and emotion regulation. Additionally, the most important variable predicting children's maladaptive emotion regulation was the children's 'activity level' temperament, and the most important variable for adaptive emotion regulation was the children's 'emotionality' temperament.
