  • The purpose of this study is to measure the social worker's knowledge about facts on aging and attitude toward the elderly between Korea and Japan. and to find out the variables that may influence their attitude. Four hundred and sixty two social workers working in nursing homes were given the questionnaire containing the Kyung San Facts on Aging Quiz to measure the level of knowledge about aging and Yoon (1988)'s scale to find the direction of attitude toward the elderly. The results of this study are analyzed as follows: (1) The Korean social worker's level of knowledge about aging was 63.0%, which was lower than Japanese social worker's level (67.6%). (2) Using 5 points scale. mean of the Korean social worker's attitude toward the elderly was 2.2 (44.8%), which was significantly different from the Japanese social worker's attitude 3.2 (63.4%). (3) Using multiple regression analysis, the social worker's level of knowledge about aging was the most significant predictor to explain the social worker's attitude toward the elderly. The other variables that are also statistically significant predictors of the social workers' attitude were country, personal experience with the elderly. and voluntary experience for the elderly. Especially the significant predictors to explain the Korean social workers' attitude were their levels of knowledge about aging. age, and classification of social worker license. On the other hand. the significant predictors to explain the Japanese social workers' attitude were their levels of knowledge about aging and periods of activity, Based on the research results, implications for practice and education methods for making social workers' attitude toward the elderly more positive are also suggested.

  • The study is to clarify the relationship among the positive and negative recognition of stress and physical and psychological abuse and neglect aiming at getting the material. They are to prevent elder abuse at the main care worker for frail and dementia elderly. The degree of fitness to the data where positive and negative recognition of main care worker was located as dependent variable. The casual model in which main care worker was located as independent variable. The degree of fitness of casual model was GFI=0.772, CFI=0.795, RESEA=0.067. Among path coefficient included in the previous model, three of figures going toward three of abuse to the elder were statistically significant.

Research design, data, and methodology - Data were collected from care workers at elderly medical and home care facilities in Korea in Seoul and Kyung-ki. Of 367 total respondents, 285 responses were used. This study performed exploratory factor analysis in order to verify the validity and credibility of the data. Regression analysis was conducted to verify the influence of the working environment, which encompasses the worker's relationship with the agency and with the elderly, on job satisfaction. Results - The hypothesis results were: First, from analyzing the influence of the working environment on the worker's job satisfaction, both relationship with the agency (p<.001) and relationship with the elderly (p<.05) positively affect job satisfaction; second, the exploratory analysis verifies the influence or the working environment on job satisfaction. Conclusions - The results indicate that the relationship with the agency (p<.001) and relationship with the elderly (p<.001) both positively affect the voluntary behavior of the workers.

In this study, the HYO consciousness of care workers is the consciousness of taking good care of the elderly. The research subjects were selected by 10 long-term care institutions belonging to Seoul and Gyeonggi Province, and a total of 450 nursing care providers were selected for the survey using a questionnaire. The final 429 questionnaire was used for the analysis. The analysis shows that first, HYO consciousness and the elderly image have a defining effect on job satisfaction. Second, HYO consciousness were found to have a positive influence on the elderly image. Finally, the elderly image played a role in the relationship between HYO consciousness and job satisfaction. The government should seek ways to foster a sense of HYO consciousness and a positive image of the elderly by utilizing educational opportunities for care worker in the future.

The subject was 194 the elderly care facilities workers in Chungbuk. Descriptive statistics, t-test, ANOVA, Pearson correlation coefficient was utilized for the data analysis. The results of this study were as follows. the score of attitude was $2.98{\pm}.34$ out of 4, the score of awareness of associated factors was $3.00{\pm}.43$ out of 4. There were statistically significant differences of attitude and awareness of associated factors of falls according to general characteristics. the relationship of attitude and awareness of associated factors of falls was significantly positive. Falls is important health related problem in elderly care facilities, so effective fall prevention program is needed for elderly care facilities worker.

  • In this paper, the fuzzy structure model for the consciousness structure of social workers related to the elder abuse factors was derived and analyzed. The characteristics of the model was obtained as follows. First, the elder abuse behavior at the top layer was related to the attitude of the elderly and the work overload of social workers. Second, the attitude of the elderly and the work overload of social workers at the middle layer were related to the personality of social worker, the physical and mental dependency of client, and the personality of client. Third, the personality of social worker, the knowledge of the elderly, the personality of client, and the physical and psychological dependence of the client affected directly the elder abuse behavior without going through the middle layer. Fourth, the work overload of social workers at the middle layer was affected the attitude of the elderly. Finally, the age of social workers, the working image, the job training, and provision of punishment to the social workers were the isolated layer, in which the relationship between the elder abuse behavior and related factors was not found.

  • This paper proposes a system that utilizes USN(Ubiquitous Sensor Network), Bluetooth and smart phone to improve the function of senior houses. In typical approach, a system in a senior house either directly accesses the status of elderly people by its sensor or is alerted by elderly people who trigger an emergency bell, derive a decision and take an appropriate action. In addition, it is possible for a designated social worker to check the status of senior patients through monitoring system connected by UTP(Unshielded Uwisted Pair) cables, but the responsible person has to be present to monitor patients' status. However, the new system, suggested in this paper, embed Bluetooth function in a blood pressure gauge, thus the smart phone receives patients' health information such as blood pressure through Bluebooth, if any abnormal event occurs. Consequently, the smart phone sends SMS(Short Message Service) to a responsible social worker or a designated hospital. When this program in the paper becomes a reality, an unmanned system that is able to determine suitable actions for certain events will be established, even if a social worker were absence.

  • This study tested the path model with regard to how certain variables (control attribution, demand-control-support of activity, and control strategy) affected the elderly workers' subjective well-being(swb). In the path model, the exogenous variables were internal and external control attribution. We used demand-control-support of activity, and primary and secondary control strategies as mediating variables. The endogenous variable was each elderly worker's swb. Study participants were 205 elders participating in an "education activity". We used descriptive statistical analysis, Pearson's correlation and hierarchical multiple regression to examine data collected from structured interviews with the participants. Path analysis revealed the followings: First, secondary control strategy was the strongest predictor of participants' swb but internal control attribution, demand of activity, and support of activity also positively affected participants' swb. Second, internal control attribution indirectly affected the participants' swb. Finally primary control strategy negatively affected on the participants' swb.
