  • Sarcopenia is an increasingly common disease among the elder that has recently received attention. Although the causes of sarcopenia are diverse, aging, dietary habits, lack of exercise are the one of the major factors. As the causes of sarcopenia are diverse, it is important to develop strategies for prevention and treatment. However, predicting sarcopnia accuartely is difficult due to the variety of factors involved. Here, machine learning can significantly improve the accuracy and convenience of predicting sarcopenia. However, since lifestyle habits and biological data are vast, using data without preprocessing may be inappropriate in terms of time complexity and accuracy. This paper reviews recent literature on sarcopnia and its causes, focusing on preprocessing the data to be used in sarcopnia prediction machine learning accrodingly.

  • As a result of visual acuity test of school children, the visual acuity is better girls than and more elder than younger. The Hyperopia of the Above ten aged children is decreased in boys rather than girls and Especially for who have +0.75Dt and below. The visual acuity of Ampetropia is 0.77 in +0.75 Dt and belows, 0.50 in +1.00 Dt and 0.33 in 3.00 Dt. Myopia is increased as age. Possibility of having Myopia is bigger for females than for males. Especially the -0.15 Dt and below in males and from -1.000t Dt -1.75 Dt in Females are easy to have it. The Ampetropia of the visual acuity is 0.67 in -0.75Dt and below, 0.38 in -1.00Dt, 0,28 in -2.00Dt and 0.20 in -3.00 Dt.

  • Objectives : This study was to investigate the level of oral health, xerostomia, and oral health related activities of daily living(ADL) and the clinical factors influencing oral health related quality of life(OHIP-14) in elderly for visiting healthcare. Methods : Data were obtained from a cross-sectional survey of 106 elderly people(mean age=$77.5{\pm}4.98$). Participants in the study were recruited when they attended the public health center in Cheonan-si. Data were collected by means of a personal interview from July 19 through to August 20, 2010. Oral health related ADL, OHIP-14 and dry mouth was measured by the total 24-items. The data was analysed with t-test, one-way ANOVA, and multiple regression using the SPSS program. Results : Participants had a mean of 13.6 remaining natural teeth, which was significantly with age and perceived oral health. Xerostomia score achieved a mean of 6.39 out of a maximum 12 points. Powerful predictors of OHIP-14 were natural teeth, masticatory difficulty, oral pain, PHP index, perceived oral health, age and living together for the elderly Conclusions : Based on the findings, OHIP-14 has a significantly impact on oral health related ADL. These results suggest that elder people oral health promotion should be developed assessment index which was measured predictors related oral health in the elderly for visiting healthcare.

  • The purpose of this study is to compare on the productive activities and life satisfaction between rural and urban elderly. Economic activities and caring labor activity had a negative effect on life satisfaction. but, community participation had a positive effect. In other words, the concept of productive activities in life satisfaction has multidimensionality. Therefore, using multiple indicators to measure is inappropriate. And, according to Chow test, coefficients that describe the structure of life satisfaction were different between the elderly living in rural and urban. The self-actualization needs of the elderly can be interpreted as due to be implemented differently, because of the different cultures of urban and rural areas. And, In life satisfaction, we have found that individual volunteer activity is more effective than volunteer through groups.

  • Dens evaginatus is an anomalous tooth development arising during morphodifferentiation. It is most often reported in premolar, and familial occurrence has been reported. The primary dental complication of dens evaginatus is fracture or wear of the tubercle which leads to pulp exposure, pulpal necrosis and periapical infection. Pathosis of the pulp can occur before complete root formation with cessation of root development. A rational and conservative approach to the management of dens evaginatus in vital teeth includes early diagnosis and treatment to prevent fracture or attrition of the tubercle. This treatment would include careful sequential grinding, pulp capping, preventive resin restoration. When presented with a case of dens evaginatus in a nonvital tooth with incomplete root development, the treatment of choice has been extraction, apexification. We report two cases of dens evaginatus that appear in two sisters. In the elder, a periapical lesion on radiographs is shown, and it is treated by calcium hydroxide apexification. The other sister is early recognized of dens evaginatus, it is treated using glass ionomer cement reinforcing with sequential grinding.

  • Background: The number of cancer survivors is increasing globally and recently, higher rates of comorbidities in cancer survivors have been reported. However, no studies have investigated whether cancer survivors have a higher risk of chronic kidney disease (CKD). Accordingly, our study evaluated the association between cancer survivors and the risk of CKD using the 2010-2012 Korean National Health and Nutrition Examination Survey. Materials and Methods: A total of 11,407 participants aged 40 years and over were categorized into two groups according to cancer experience. Multiple variables were compared and the odds ratios (ORs) for CKD prevalence were calculated using a weighted logistic regression analysis between the two groups. Results: Cancer survivors were older than were those in the non-cancer group, on average, the percentages of glomerular filtration rate(GFR) lower than $60mL/min/1.73m^2$, proteinuria, and CKD were significantly higher in cancer survivors when compared to controls. Weighted logistic regression analyses demonstrated that cancer survivors had a higher risk for CKD after adjusting for multiple variables (OR (95% confidence interval), 2.88 (1.48-5.59)). Conclusions: Our study demonstrated a possible association between CKD and cancer survival in Korean adults. Identifying and correcting risk factors for cancer survivors would positively affect prevention of CKD and result in a better cancer prognosis.

  • Purpose: This study was to provide basic data for comprehensive nursing care for elderly people and to compare the spiritual well-being and perceived health status between elderly people who have above average income and those who have low income. Method: The data were collected from 80 elders with above average income and 81 with low income through face-to-face interviews. An elder was defined as a person over 60 years of age. The data were analyzed using t-test, ANOVA, ANCOVA, Pearson correlation coefficients and Scheffe test. Result: The mean score for spiritual well being for elders with above average income was 2.90 of a total possible score of 4 and for elders with low income, 2.49 and the difference was significant. The mean score for perceived health status for elders with above average income was 8.93 of a total possible score of 14 and for elders with low income, 7.47 and the difference was also significant. There was a statistically positive correlation between existential well-being and perceived health status for the total sample of elderly people and for the elders with low income. Conclusion: Spiritual nursing care should be included in comprehensive health care programs for elderly people in Korea. Especially, it is important to develop nursing interventions for elders with low income that will increase their spiritual well-being and help them to develop positive thinking towards perceived health status.

  • The purpose of this study was to examine the effectiveness of group forgiveness program for female elders who had deep and unfair personal hurt experiences from their social relationships. Subjects were divided into 2 groups. The sample was comprised of 20 elders, capable of verbal communication. Experimental and control groups composed of elders, each 2 elders dropped out of each group due to personal reasons. Experimental group completed a total of eight consecutive group forgiveness program sessions that combined listening and supportive techniques. Additionally, qualitative investigations were also done through interviews and observations. Following the intervention, experimental group experienced a significant improvement in degree of forgiveness(t=3.05, p<.01), anger(t=3.78, p<.01), anxiety(F=5.93, p<.05), depression(F=16.73, p<.01). Qualitative analysis also resulted that the elderly relationships were changing positively. This study implies that group forgiveness program was effective in improving elder's degree of forgiveness and reducing anger, anxiety and depression so that the participants were to value their whole life more.
