This paper deals with an experimental technique for the measurement of dynamic stability derivatives in the roll motion of aircraft. Experimental aquisition method for aircraft's dynamic stability derivatives is conducted on the oscillation condition of aircraft model in the subsonic wind tunnel. The oscillation of aircraft model was forced by the oscillation apparatus. The forced oscillation technique is the method getting data from the internal balance inserted into the aircraft model during oscillating it. Dynamic stability derivatives of rolling motion were calculated by data reduction from the measurements of rolling moment, frequency and amplitude of aircraft model due to forced oscillation under wind conditions. Results of experiment is obtained similar one with those of roll dynamic stability derivatives measured in other institutes.
This study is objected by analyzing whether it is applied to the analysis model considering the track stiffness or not when the railway bridge is designed or reviewed for the dynamic stability. It is performed that the analysis model is verified by comparing the field test result with the analysis result. Also, The dynamic response of railway bridge through the existing analysis model is compared with the analysis model considered the track stiffness. In addition, it is performed by analyzing the model considering the stiffness of concrete track. Therefore, this study is suggested that the design of railway bridge apply to the existing analysis model considering the mass of track and the dynamic stability review of railway bridge apply to it considered the stiffness & mass of track. Also, it is suggested that the stiffness of concrete slab on the bridge must consider when it is designed or checked over the dynamic stability.
This study explores the limitation in making a causal model through an existing case and proposes an alternative plan to improve a theoretical system of causation modeling. To make a dynamic and actual model, several principles are needed such as reality based analysis of system structures and dynamics, consistent expression of causations, conversion of numerical formulas to causal relations, classification and arrangement of variables by size of concept, etc. However, it is hard to find cases to apply these considerations from existing models in System Dynamics. Therefore, this study verifies errors of derived models from literatures and proposes principles and guides that should be considered to make a sound dynamic model on a causal map. It contributes to making an opportunity for exciting public opinion to improve theory about causal maps, yet it has limitation that the study does not advance forward to the experimental step. For future study, it plans to make up by classifying and leveling causal variables, developing a dynamic BSC model.
PURPOSES : This paper presents a comparison study between dynamic and static analyses of falling weight deflectometer (FWD) testing, which is a test used for evaluating layered material stiffness. METHODS: In this study, a forward model, based on nonlinear subgrade models, was developed via finite element analysis using ABAQUS. The subgrade material coefficients from granular and fine-grained soils were used to represent strong and weak subgrade stiffnesses, respectively. Furthermore, the nonlinearity in the analysis of multi-load FWD deflection measured from intact PCC slab was investigated using the deflection data obtained in this study. This pavement has a 14-inch-thick PCC slab over fine-grained soil. RESULTS: From case studies related to the nonlinearity of FWD analysis measured from intact PCC slab, a nonlinear subgrade model-based comparison study between the static and dynamic analyses of nondestructive FWD tests was shown to be effectively performed; this was achieved by investigating the primary difference in pavement responses between the static and dynamic analyses as based on the nonlinearity of soil model as well as the multi-load FWD deflection. CONCLUSIONS : In conclusion, a comparison between dynamic and static FEM analyses was conducted, as based on the FEM analysis performed on various pavement structures, in order to investigate the significance of the differences in pavement responses between the static and dynamic analyses.
Smoothed Particle Hydrodynamics (SPH) is a Lagrangian computational fluid dynamics method that has been widely used in the analysis of physical phenomena characterized by large deformation or multi-phase flow analysis, including free surface. Despite the recent implementation of eddy-viscosity models in SPH methodology, sophisticated turbulent analysis using Lagrangian methodology has been limited due to the lack of computational performance and numerical consistency. In this study, we implement the standard and dynamic Smagorinsky model and dynamic Vreman model as sub-particle scale models based on a weakly compressible SPH solver. The large eddy simulation method is numerically identical to the spatial discretization method of smoothed particle dynamics, enabling the intuitive implementation of the turbulence model. Furthermore, there is no additional filtering process required for physical variables since the sub-grid scale filtering is inherently processed in the kernel interpolation. We simulate lid-driven flow under transition and turbulent conditions as a benchmark. The simulation results show that the dynamic Vreman model produces consistent results with experimental and numerical research regarding Reynolds averaged physical quantities and flow structure. Spectral analysis also confirms that it is possible to analyze turbulent eddies with a smaller length scale using the dynamic Vreman model with the same particle size.
This paper proposed a new 2D multibody dynamic modeling technique to analyze overriding behavior taking place during train collision. This dynamic model is composed of nonlinear spring, damper and mass by considering the deformable characteristics of carbodies as well as energy absorbing structures and components. By solving this dynamic model of rollingstock, collision energy absorption capacity, acceleration of passenger sections, impact forces applied to interconnecting devices, and overriding displacements can be well estimated. For a case study, we choose KHST (Korean High Speed Train), obtained crush characteristic data of each carbody section from 3D finite element analysis, and established a 2D multibody dynamic model. This 2D dynamic model was suggested to describe the collision behavior of 3D Virtual Testing Model.
Unlike land-based nuclear power plants, a marine or floating reactor is affected by external forces due to ocean conditions. These external forces can cause additional accelerations and affect each system and equipment of the marine reactor. Therefore, in designing a marine reactor and evaluating its performance and stability, a thermal hydraulic safety analysis code is necessary to consider the thermal hydrodynamic effects of ship motion. MARS, which is a reactor system analysis code, includes a dynamic motion model that can simulate the thermal-hydraulic phenomena under three-dimensional motion by calculating the body force term included in the momentum equation. In this study, it was verified that the dynamic motion model can simulate fluid motion with reasonable accuracy using conceptual problems. In addition, two modifications were made to the dynamic motion model; first, a user-supplied table to simulate a realistic ship motion was implemented, and second, the flow regime map determination algorithm was improved by calculating the volume inclination information at every time step if the dynamic motion model was activated. With these modifications, MARS could simulate the thermal-hydraulic phenomena under ocean motion more realistically.

A dynamic model for the cutting process in the end milling process is developed. This model, which describes the dynamic response of the end mill, the chip load geometry including tool runout, the dependence of the cutting forces on the chip load, is used to predict the dynamic cutting force during the end milling process. In order to predict accurately cutting forces and tool vibration, the model, which uses instantaneous specific cutting force, includes both regenerative effect and penetration effect. The model is verified through comparisons of model predicted cutting force with measured cutting forces obtained from machining experiments.

In a model based friction comensation for a frictional system, the performance of the system is inflenceed by the selection of the friction model. Especially, when a real plant have dynamic friction characteritics, the compensation of friction with a static friction model may deteriorate the perfomance. For the system we constlucted an adaptiv parameter estimation and friction compensation with a newly introduced dynamic friction model proposed by Canudas et.[1]. The model depicts varios frictional phenomena, such as Stibeck effect, frictional memory, Stick-slip motion. Parmeter identification algorithm are followed conventional RLSM adaptive rule. The stability for the closed system was proved by the Lyapunov stability. The result say that if a real system have dynamic friction property, the friction compensation with the dynamic friction model will improve the perfomance moreover static friction model based compensation may lead to the system unstable.
The dynamic characteristics of two types of mathematical models for a rigid body suspension system are analyzed and compared in this paper. One is a linearized model which is commonly used in the engine mount system analysis, the other is a nonlinear model which usually applied to the pendulum type system. The typical 3 d.o.f's mathematical model, for convenience, is chosen as a simulation model, because it has fundamental dynamic characteristics of suspension system. Time responses and unbalance responses of the rigid body, transmitted forces and torques are simulated by using the mathematical model. From the results of computer simulation, it is approved that he nonlinear model is valid and the linearized model gives erroneous results in the case of the pendulum type suspension system. In addition, in this study the effects of design change on the dynamic characteristics of the suspension system are investigated. Mount locations, mount angles, lengths, stiffness and damping coefficients of suspension bars are chosen as design parameters.
