  • The Core Support Barrel (CSB) is a major component of Reactor Internals, and is designed to support and protect the Reactor Core. In this study, Reactor Core, Core Shroud and CSB were simplified to coaxial cylinders and then the offset of Reactor Core & Core Shroud to the dynamic characteristic of CSB was analyzed. For the beam modes, natural frequencies of the cantilevered cylinder are compared with those of the cantilevered beam. And it was found out that shear modulus must be used correctly to convert the shell model to the equivalent beam model. From the dynamic characteristics of the beam model, it was found out that natural frequencies are proportional to the length of Reactor Core & Core Shroud and inversely proportional to the mass. From the comparison with the dynamic characteristics of a beam model and a lumped-mass model it was found out that the size of lumped-mass must be determined considering both the length and the mass of Reactor Core & Core Shroud.

  • In this study, a hydrodynamic analysis of the reciprocating compressor crankshaft considering a finite bearing modelling of the journal bearings used in small refrigeration compressors is performed. In the problem formulation of the compression mechanism dynamics, all corresponding hydrodynamic forces and moments are considered using the finite bearing analysis in order to determine the crankshaft trajectory at each step. The solution of the Reynolds' equation is determined numerically using a finite difference method and a Newton-Raphson procedure was employed in solving the dynamic equations of the crankshaft. The crankshaft orbits fur the finite bearing model and short bearing theory were used to compare the effect of the hydrodynamic farces of the journal bearings on the dynamic and lubrication characteristics of the crankshaft-journal bearing system. Results show that the finite bearing model for the journal bearings must be considered in calculating for the accurate dynamic characteristics of the reciprocating compressor crankshaft.

  • The dynamic model of a high-speed vacuum circuit breaker mechanism with spring-actuated cam and linkage is derived to simulate the high-speed closing and opening operations. Its validation for an analysis of high-speed motion behavior is checked through experiments. The characteristics of the friction on the camshaft are investigated using the nonlinear pendulum experiment. The parameters of the friction model are estimated using the optimization technique. The analysis exhibits that the friction of the pendulum depends on stick-slip, Stribeck effect and viscous damping. Comparing simulation results with actual responses using a high-speed camera, the appropriateness of derived dynamic models for the rapid closing and opening operations is shown. The spring motion, which has much influence on the closing responses, is observed.

  • A driver-vehicle model means the integrated dynamic model that is able to estimate the steering wheel angle from the driver's desired path based on the dynamic characteristics of the driver and vehicle. In this paper, the dynamic characteristics of several four-wheel steering systems with the simultaneously steerable front and rear wheels are investigated and compared by means of the driver-vehicle model. Especially, the presented analysis results are obtained by using the ISO test codes such as lane change, double lane change and slalom, and the effects of the driver's steering response time and vehicle speed are examined on the responsiveness and stability of vehicle.

  • Recent trend in machine tools is pursuing the high precision and high speed facility and its architecture is being more complicated. With this tendency, it is required the more precise dynamic analysis of electro-mechanical system in machine tools. In this paper, the exact mathematical model of feed and spindle system of a typical machine tools was induced. The feed system is modeled as 7-mass system including the workpiece and the spindle system as 4-mass system. The simulation results show that the induced model depicts the characteristics of real system very well. The effects of each mechanical element to dynamic motion of a machine are analyzed by simulation with the induced model. It ia anticipated that the induced model can be used in the analysis of various machine architectures and in the design stage of new machine tools.

  • In the dynamic analysis model of full vehicles, the ball joint is usually modeled as an ideal joint. Searching a ball joint, the engineering plastic covers metal and the plastic has little compliance. It is expected that the compliance will physically have an influence on load transfer. This thesis presents a dynamic model considering the compliance of a ball joint, and studies an influence related to load transfer. It models the compliance of a ball joint to 3 directional spring. Likewise, it researches the load of a ball joint via a four-post simulation of a full vehicle, comparing with a model considered compliant and the model of an ideal joint. As a result, the difference between the compliance and the ideal joint model was determined. For this reasons, to conduct precision load prediction for durability analysis, dynamic analysis considering the compliance of bali joint should be required.

Large Eddy Simulation of Turbulent Premixed Flame in Turbulent Channel Flow

  • Large eddy simulation of turbulent premixed flame in turbulent channel flow is studied by using G-equation. A flamelet model for the premixed flame is combined with a dynamic subgrid combustion model for the filtered propagation flame speed. The objective of this work is to investigate the validity of the dynamic subgrid G-equation model to a complex turbulent premixed flame. The effect of model parameters of the dynamic sub grid G-equation on the turbulent flame speed is investigated. In order to consider quenching of laminar flames on the wall, wall-quenching damping function is employed in this calculation. In the present study, a constant density turbulent channel flow is used. The calculation results are evaluated by comparing with the DNS results of Bruneaux et al.

  • This paper presents a dynamic model for escalators to be used for the analysis and design of low vibration escalators. The dynamic model is developed so as to reflect the physical observation on peculiar characteristics such as the difference between up moving and down moving, and the resonance affected by the load applied. For validation of the dynamic model developed, experimental results are compared with numerical results from the model. The numerical study shows that the developed model is useful for analysis and design of escalator systems.

  • Hot deformation behavior of Udiment720Li was characterized by compression tests in the temperature range of 10$25^{\circ}C$ to 115$0^{\circ}C$ and the strain rate range of $0.0005 s^{-1};to;5 s^{-1}$. The combination of dynamic material model (DMM) and Ziegler's instability criterion was applied to predict an optimum condition and unstable regions for hot forming. A dynamic recrystallization model coupled with FEM results was used to interpret the evolution of microstructures. In order to verify the reliability of the present coupled model, isothermal forging was performed in the temperature range 1050~115$0^{\circ}C$ at strain rates of $0.05 s^{-1};and;0.005 s^{-1}$. The present model was successfully applied to the hot forming process of Udimet720Li.

  • 항공기는 임무수행을 위해 다양한 외부 장착물을 장착해야 한다. 이러한 외부 장착물은 경우에 따라서 구조적 불안정성을 발생시키는 원인이 될 수 있기 때문에 항공기와 외부 장착물 간의 영향성 평가가 필요하다. 이를 위해 외부 장착물을 반영한 항공기 동특성 해석을 수행하게 되는데, 항공기 동특성 해석용 유한요소 모델은 최소의 절점과 요소를 사용하면서도 해당 구성품의 동특성을 최대한 정확하게 모사할 수 있어야 한다. 본 연구에서는 MSC Patran/Nastran을 사용하여 외부 연료탱크와 장착 파일런의 동특성 해석용 스틱모델을 구축하였다. 등가 강도 계산을 위해 간단한 빔 이론을 적용하여 각 부품의 스틱모델을 구축하고 상세모델과의 모드 비교를 통해 생성된 스틱모델의 적합성을 확인하였다. 그리고, 외부 연료탱크가 장착된 파일런의 스틱모델 조립체의 모달해석을 수행하여 항공기 동특성 해석을 위해 요구되는 기본 모드들이 잘 추출되는 것을 확인하였다. 최종적으로 상세모델 조립체와 스틱모델 조립체 간 모드들의 오차를 비교하여 구축된 스틱모델 조립체가 항공기 동특성 해석용으로 사용될 수 있음을 확인하였다.
