중년여성에 대한 영양교육 및 운동 프로그램이 신체조성, 혈청지질 농도 및 휴식대사량에 미치는 영향 (Effect of Body Composition, Serum Lipid Level and Resting Metabolic Rate by Nutritional Education and Exercise Program in Middle Aged Women)

  • The purpose of this study was to investigate the change of body composition, biochemical index level, resting metabolic rate and daily activities by the public health center's health-promoted program in overweight middle aged women. The workout program of 12 subjects constituted by exercise(aerobic exercise & resistance training) and nutritional education for 10 weeks. As the results, there was a significant decrease in all the weight(59.0$\pm$8.9 vs 57.2$\pm$8.3kg, p<0.05), body fat percentage(33.4$\pm$4.3 vs 30.5$\pm$4.5%, p<0.05) and body fat mass(19.8$\pm$5.4 vs 17.7$\pm$4.9kg, p<0.05) after program. Fat free mass and RMR which tend to be higher after than before program were found not to be significantly. In addition, the serum HDL-cholesterol(54.3$\pm$8.1 vs 59.7$\pm$13.9mg/dl, p<0.05) and TG level(65.2$\pm$418 vs 89.4$\pm$65.6mg/dl, p<0.05) of the subjects increased at the end of the study significantly and significant correlation found between total-cholesterol and TG before program. When the other laboratory parameter were compared before and after program, hematocrit(35.1$\pm$3.3 vs 39.7$\pm$3.3%, p<0.001), platelet(225.9$\pm$49.6 vs 244.3$\pm$49.7cell/ul, p<0.05) and fasting glucose(88.0$\pm$6.5 vs 76.6$\pm$9.7mg/dl, p<0.001) increased significantly but hemoglobin(13.3$\pm$1.3 vs 12.9$\pm$1.3mg/dl, p<0.01) decreased. And in activities analysis, 'moderate activity(18.8 vs 5.8minutes, p<0.05)' clearly showed a significant decrease but 'severe activity(17.7 vs 11.4minutes, p<0.05)' showed a increase. These results suggest that continuous health-promoted program involved exercise and nutritional education at the public health center are effective to reduce body fat and to improve resting metabolic rate(RMR). Further research is required to develop more effective public health program for the middle aged women in community.

식이섭취 빈도수가 흰쥐의 성장 및 각 기관의 조성에 미치는 영향 (The Effect of Feeding Frequency on the Growth and Composition of Individual Organs in Rats)

  • 동물의 성장정도에 따라 식이섭취양식이 성장및 각 기관의 DNA와 RNA함량에 미치는 영향을 경토하기 위하여 , 성장기와 성장완료기의 흰쥐에게 ad-lib. feeding과 1일 3회 급여 그리고 1일 1회 급여등 3가지 섭취 양식으로 정제 식이를 급여하여 비교하였으며, 그 결과는다음과 같다. 1 ) 모든 실험동물에서 3희 식이군은 ad-lib. 군과 비슷한 증체량을 나타냈으나, 1회 식이군은 다른 군보다 낮은 증체량을 나타냈으며, 식이섭취량도 더 적었다. 2) 성장기 쥐의 경우. 1회 식이군은 ad-lib.군에 비해 간, 신장, 비장 등 내장기관의 DNA, RNA, 단백질 함량이 강소되었으나, DNAmg당 각 조성은 다른군과 차이가 없었다. 한편, 성인쥐의 경우는 1회 식이군에서, 간의 크기가 현저히 증가되었으며 DNAmg당 각 조성은 증가하였으나, 간의 DNA함량은 유의적 차이가 없었다. 신장과 비장은 식이섭취양식에 의한 유의적 차이를 보이지 않았다. 3) 성장기 쥐와 성인쥐의 위와 소장은 meal-feeding에 의해 크기가 증대된 경향을 나타냈으며, 혈청콜레스테롤은 유의적 차이가 없었다. 본 결과는 식이섭취양식이 성장기 동물에서는 내장기관의 세포수에 크게 영향을 미치며, 성장완료기 동물에서는 내장기관중 특히 간의 세포크기에 영향을 미침을 시사한다.

노령기 흰쥐에서 제초제 저항성 쌀의 급여에 대한 안전성 평가 (Evaluation of Safety for the Supplement of Herbicide-resistant Rice in Old Male Rats)

  • 본 연구는 농촌진흥청에서 개발된 유전자 변형 식품의 영양적 안전성을 검토하기 위하여 수행되었다. 발이 우리의 주식인 점을 고려하여 우선 안전성 이 검토되어야 할 시험 재료로 선정하였고, 유전자 변형(제초제 저항성) 쌀의 실질적 동등성 구명을 위해 일반 및 미량 영양소의 함량을 분석하였으며, 대표적 취약 계층인 노령기 모델에서 유전자 변형 쌀을 가지고 안전성을 검토하였다. 특히 항생제 저항성 유전자 마커가 현미 에 있을 수 있고 열처리시 변화될 수 있음을 고려하여 유전자 변형 품종의 현미 및 현미밥과 모종인 일품의 현미 및 현미밥으로 배합한 실험식이를 8주간 급여하였다. 그 결과 시험재료의 영양성분 함량에 큰 차이를 보이지 않았고, 실험식이를 급여하였을 때 모든 실험 동물에서 임상적 증상, 조직의 외형이나 무게 및 혈청 생화학적 지표에 차이가 없었다. 그러므로 본 실험에 사용된 유전자 변형 품종(제초제 저항성 )의 현미와 현미밥 모두 노령기 실험동물에 어떠한 부정적 영향도 미치지 않은 것으로 보인다. 그러나 유전자 변형식품의 안전성에 대해 종 더 보완된 in uiuo 실험법의 확립과 장기간의 급여에 따른 영향검토가 필요하고, 본 연구의 시험재료는 단지 제초제 저항성 품종의 현미에 대한 것으로 다른 유전자 변형 식품의 안전성에 대해서는 계속적인 확인 실험이 있어야 할 것으로 생각된다.

녹차 분말을 첨가하여 제조된 유과의 섭취가 마우스의 혈중지질 및 체중에 미치는 영향 (Effect of Yukwa Containing Green Tea Powder on Lipid Composition and Body Weight Change in Mice)

  • 본 연구는 녹차가루가 포함된 유과의 섭취가 실험동물의 체중 및 혈중 지질변화에 미치는 영향에 관하여 평가하였다. 원산지가 다른 총 5종의 녹차(부초차, 옥로차, 용정차, 우롱차, 홍차)를 첨가하여 유과를 제조한 후 사료와 혼합하여 마우스에 섭취시킨 결과 유과 단독 섭취군에 비하여 녹차가 첨가된 유과를 섭취한 실험동물에서 체중 및 혈중 콜레스테롤 수치가 유의적으로 감소하는 경향을 나타내었으며, 간 조직 및 복부지방의 조직의 검경결과 간세포의 염증 억제, 복부 지방세포의 무게 및 크기 감소 등의 효과가 관찰되었다. 따라서 유과의 제조 시 녹차가루의 첨가는 기존 유과가 지닌 단점을 개선시킬 수 있는 효과적인 방법이라 사료된다.

해조의 식용분말화에 관한 연구 (A Study on the Nutritive Value and Utilization of Powdered Seaweeds)

  • I. Subject of the study A study on the nutritive value and utilization of powdered seaweeds. II. Purpose and Importance of the study A. In Korea the shortage of food will be inevitable by the rapidly growing population. It will be very important study to develop a new food from the seaweeds which were not used hitherto for human consumption. B. The several kinds of seaweeds have been used by man in Korea mainly as side-dishes. However, a properly powdered seaweed will enable itself to be a good supplement or mixture to certain cereal flours. C. By adding the powdered seaweed to any cereals which have long been staple foods in this country the two fold benefits; saving of cereals and change of dietary pattern, will be secured. III. Objects and scope of the study A. Objects of the study The objects will come under four items. 1. To develop a powdered seaweed as a new food from the seaweeds which have been not used for human consumption. 2. To evaluate the nutritional quality of the products the analysis for chemical composition and animal feeding experiment will be conducted. 3. Experimental cocking and accepability test will be conducted for the powdered products to evaluate the value as food stuff. 4. Sanitary test and also economical analysis will be conducted for the powdered products. B. Scope of the study 1. Production of seaweed powders Sargassum fulvellum growing in eastern coast and Sargassum patens C.A. in southern coast were used as the material for the powders. These algae, which have been not used for human consumption, were pulverized through the processes of washing, drying, pulverization, etc. 2. Nutritional experiments a. Chemical composition Proximate components (water, protein, fat, cellulose, sugar, ash, salt), minerals (calcium, phosphorus, iron, iodine), vitamins (A, $B_1,\;B_2$ niacin, C) and amino acids were analyzed for the seaweed powders. b. Animal feeding experiment Weaning 160 rats (80 male and 80 female rats) were used as experimental animals, dividing them into 16 groups, 10 rats each group. Each group was fed for 12 weeks on cereal diet (Wheat flour, rice powder, barley powder, potato powder, corn flour) with the supplementary levels of 5%, 10%, 15%, 20% and 30% of the seaweed powder. After the feeding the growth, feed efficiency ratio, protain efficiency ratio and ,organs weights were checked and urine analysis, feces analysis and serum analysis were also conducted. 3. Experimental cooking and acceptability test a. Several basic studies were conducted to find the characteristics of the seaweed powder. b. 17 kinds of Korean dishes and 9 kinds of foreign dishes were prepared with cereal flours (wheat, rice, barley, potato, corn) with the supplementary levels of 5%, 10%, 15%, 20% and 30% of the seaweed powder. c. Acceptability test for the dishes was conducted according to plank's Form. 4. Sanitary test The heavy metals (Cd, Pb, As, Hg) in the seaweed powders were determined. 5. Economical analysis The retail price of the seaweed powder was compared with those of other cereals in the market. And also economical analysis was made from the nutritional point of view, calculating the body weight gained in grams per unit price of each feeding diet. IV. Results of the study and the suggestion for application A. Chemical composition 1. There is no any big difference in proximate components between powders of Sargassum fulvellum in eastern coast and Sargassum patens C.A. in southern coast. Seasonal difference is also not significant. Higher levels of protein, cellulose, ash and salt were found in the powders compared with common cereal foods. 2. The levels of calcium (Ca) and iron (Fe) in the powders were significantly higher than common cereal foods and also rich in iodine (I). Existence of vitamin A and vitamin C in the Powders is different point from cereal foods. Vitamin $B_1\;and\;B_2$ are also relatively rich in the powders.'Vitamin A in ·Sargassum fulvellum is high and the levels of some minerals and vitamins are seemed4 to be some influenced by seasons. 3. In the amino acid composition methionine, isoleucine, Iysine and valine are limiting amino acids. The protein qualities of Sargassum fulvellum and Sargassum patens C.A. are seemed to be .almost same and generally ·good. Seasonal difference in amino acid composition was found. B. Animal feeding experiment 1. The best growth was found at.10% supplemental level of the seaweed Powder and lower growth rate was shown at 30% level. 2. It was shown that 15% supplemental level of the Seaweed powder seems to fulfil, to some extent the mineral requirement of the animals. 3. No any changes were found in organs development except that, in kidney, there found decreasing in weight by increasing the supplemental level of the seaweed powder. 4. There is no any significant changes in nitrogen retention, serum cholesterol, serum calcium and urinary calcium in each supplemental level of the seaweed powder. 5. In animal feeding experiment it was concluded that $5%{\sim}15%$ levels supplementation of the seaweed powder are possible. C. Experimental cooking and acceptability test 1. The seaweed powder showed to be utilized more excellently in foreign cookings than in Korean cookings. Higher supplemental level of seaweed was passible in foreign cookings. 2. Hae-Jo-Kang and Jeon-Byung were more excellent than Song-Pyun, wheat cake, Soo-Je-Bee and wheat noodle. Hae-Je-Kang was excellent in its quality even as high as 5% supplemental level. 3. The higher levels of supplementation were used the more sticky cooking products were obtained. Song-Pyun and wheat cake were palatable and lustrous in 2% supplementation level. 4. In drop cookie the higher levels of supplementation, the more crisp product was obtained, compared with other cookies. 5. Corn cake, thin rice gruel, rice gruel and potato Jeon-Byung were more excellent in their quality than potato Man-Doo and potato noodle. Corn cake, thin rice gruel and rice gruel were excellent even as high as 5% supplementation level. 6. In several cooking Porducts some seaweed-oder was perceived in case of 3% or more levels of supplementation. This may be much diminished by the use of proper condiments. D. Sanitary test It seems that there is no any heavy metals (Cd, Pb, As, Hg) problem in these seaweed Powders in case these Powders are used as supplements to any cereal flours E. Economical analysis The price of the seaweed powder is lower than those of other cereals and that may be more lowered when mass production of the seaweed powder is made in future. The supplement of the seaweed powder to any cereals is also economical with the criterion of animal growth rate. F. It is recommended that these seaweed powders should be developed and used as supplement to any cereal flours or used as other food material. By doing so, both saving of cereals and improvement of individual's nutrition will greatly be achieved. It is also recommended that the feeding experiment for men would be conducted in future.

사료내 Conjugated Linoleic Acid 첨가수준이 육계의 생산성, 도체특성 및 근내 지방산 조성에 미치는 영향 (Effect of Dietary Conjugated Linoleic Acid on Growth Performance, Carcass Characteristics and Muscular Fatty Acid Composition in Broiler)

  • 본 연구는 CLA를 육계사료에 첨가하여 그 급여수준(0, 0.5, 1.0, 1.5, 및 2.0%)에 따라 육계의 생산성과 CLA를 급여한 계육의 도체특성, 혈청콜레스테롤 및 지방산조성의 변화를 검토하고자 육계 200수(Arbor Acre Broiler, male)를 5주 동안 공시하였다 육계의 생산성을 나타내는 증체량, 사료섭취량 및 사료요구율은 CLA급여에 따른 유의성은 없었다. 도체특성중 도체율뿐만 아니라 도체중에 대한 간, 대퇴부위, 흉심 및 북채의 비율은 CLA를 급여함으로서 유의한 변화가 없었지만, 복강지방 비율은 CLA 급여량이 많아짐에 따라 유의한 감소 현상을 확인할 수 있었다(p<0.05). 혈청콜레스테롤은 CLA급여량이 증가할 수록 총콜레스테롤과 LDL-C은 감소하고, HDL-C은 증가하였다(p<0.05). 그리고 지방산 조성 변화는 CLA를 급여함에 따라 palmitic acid는 증가하고, oleic acid, linoleic acid 및 arachidonic acid는 감소하여 포화지방산은 증가하고 불포화지방산은 감소하는 현상을 보였다. 또한, CLA의 이성체함량도 CLA급여량이 증가함에 따라 직선적으로 증가하였다(p<0.05). 결론적으로 계육에 CLA 축적을 극대화하기 위해서는 2%까지 급여도 가능하지만. 지방산조성의 변화가 심하므로 CLA도 축적시키고 지방산 변화도 최소화할 수 있는 1%의 급여수준이 적합할 것으로 판단된다.

사료 지질원으로 우지, 대두유 및 오징어 간유 첨가에 따른 조피볼락 Sebastes schlegeli의 성장 및 체성분 변화와 절식시 체내 대사 (Effects of Dietary Beef Tallow, Soybean Oil and Squid Liver Oil on Growth and Body Composition of the Korean Rockfish Sebastes schlegeli, and Biochemical Changes with Starvation)

  • 사료의 n-3HUFA 함량이 $1.6\%$ 이상 함유되도록 조절한 3종의 실험 사료로 43g 전후의 조피볼락을 19주간 사육 실험한 후, 136g전후의 어체를 45일간 절식시켜 사료 지질원에 따른 조피볼락의 성장 및 체성분의 변화와 절식시 체내 대사를 조사하였다. 증중율, 사료 효율, 단백질 축적 효율 및 지질 축적 효율 모두 사료 지질원에 따른 유의차가 없었다$(P\geq0.05)$ 간과 등 근육의 총지질 중의 지방산은 사료 지질원의 조성비에 영향을 받아, monoene산은 우지 첨가구에, n-6계 지방산 (18:2n-6, 22:4n-6)들은 대두유 첨가구에, n-3계 지방산 (20 : 5n-3, 22 : 6n-3)들은 오징어 간유 단독 첨가구에 상대적으로 더 높게 조성되어 있었다. 전 어체 및 등 근육의 일반 성분은 실험구별로 차이가 없었으며, 간 중량비 및 내장 중량비도 차이가 없었다. 간과 내장의 수분 함량은 오징어 간유 구가 타 실험구에 비해 높았으며, 간지질 함량은 우지 첨가구가 가장 높았다. 간 중량비 및 내장 중량비는 모두 절식기간 중에 전체적으로 감소하였으며, 오징어 간유 구가 타 실험구에 비해 그 감소폭이 컸다. 절식 15일까지는 근육 단백질과 지질이 감소하였고, 그 후부터는 간의 글리코겐 함량이 감소하였으며, 내장 지질은 절식 기간 중 계속 감소하는 현상을 보여 절식 중에 이용되는 에너지원의 형태와 시기가 다르게 나타났다. 혈청 성분은 지질원에 따라 절식 기간별로 이동되는 형태가 약간 다르게 나타나기는 하였으나, 절식 기간이 길어짐에 따라 점차 그 차이는 없었다.

홍삼의 골다공증에 대한 임상적 효능 연구 (Clinical Effect of Korean Red Ginseng on Osteoporosis)

  • Osteoporosis is defined as a pathologic condition in which there occurs no change in the chemical composition of the bone, while bone resorption is abnormally increased. This compares with osteogenesis, which leads to a decrease in the amount of bone. Though many varieties of therapies have been tried, no fully effective method has been found. Korean red ginseng is an important variety of Korean ginsengs and many studies have been performed to investigate its effectiveness. But there has been no report on red ginseng's effects on osteoporosis. The purpose of this study was to determine the clinical effects of Korean red ginseng on postmenopausal osteoporosis patients. The study was designed as a double-blind study. Group I consisted of 30 postmenopausal osteoporosis patients who were administered red ginseng extracts and 15 patients who were administered maltose capsules, were included in group II. The following results were obtained after one-year administration to both groups. 1. There were no significant differences in the degree of wedging, number of compression fractures in the vertebral body, trabeculations, and Cobb's angles between the experimental and control groups. 2. Even though bone mineral density increased in the lumbar spine, and decreased in the femur, there was no significant statistical difference. 3. The serum levels of parathyroid hormone (PTH), calcium, phosphate, and alkaline phosphates showed no difference between the two groups regardless of treatment. 4. Urine Deoxy-pyridinoline (DPYD) decreased in the red ginseng group while it increased in the maltose group, but statistically there was no significant difference between the two groups. 5. The clinical presentations showed no significant differences using Visual Analog Scale. 6. The specific complications related with the long-term use of red ginseng did not occur in all patients. In conclusion, there were no statistically significant differences in clinical presentations, biochemical, and radiological studies between the red gins eng and maltose groups. No definite effectiveness of red ginseng on patients with osteoporosis was found.

Effects of resistant starch on anti-obesity status and nutrient digestibility in dogs

  • This study investigated the effects of corn resistant starch (RS) on the anti-obesity properties, nutrient digestibility, and blood parameters in healthy beagles. Four spayed and six castrated beagle dogs were divided into a control group (CON) with a diet comprising rice and chicken meal and a treatment group (TRT) with a diet comprising corn with an increased RS content by heating-cooling and chicken meal. All dogs in the CON and TRT groups were fed a 1.2-fold higher energy diet than the daily recommended energy requirement for 16 weeks. Throughout the study period, the body weight of dogs in CON increased, whereas no change in body weight was observed in TRT, resulting in a significant difference in body weight between the two groups at the end of the experiment. Moreover, a significant reduction in the apparent total tract digestibility was observed upon the analysis of dry matter, nitrogen-free extract, and organic matter in TRT compared with that in CON. The complete blood cell composition and biochemical parameters were within the reference range in both groups. A significant increase in the concentration of serum adiponectin was found in TRT at the end of the experiment. These results suggest that the corn RS may be beneficial for weight management owing to its reduced nutrient digestibility.

CsA Affects the Rat Submandibular Glands via Regulating the CypA Expression

  • The effects of the an immunosuppressive drug cyclosporine A (CsA), on the salivary gland are largely unknown, even though clinical trials for the stimulation of salivation using CsA have been attempted. Cyclophilin A (CypA) is known to be a binding protein for CsA. CypA has cell proliferation and tissue matrix change activities. In our present study, the presence of CypA in the gland and effects of CsA on CypA expression were investigated by immunohistochemistry, immunoblotting and RT-PCR analyses. CypA was immunohistochemically detected in various kinds of ducts in the submandibular glands of Sprague Dawley rats. The CypA mRNA level was highest at postnatal day 1 and gradually decreased in a time-dependent manner up to adulthood. The expression of CypA increased after a 10 day subcutaneous administration of CsA in postnatal day 1 rats. Surgical sections of the chorda-lingual nerve with impaired salivation showed no changes in CypA expression. A cell proliferation assay using PCNA anti-serum showed increased cell division following CsA treatment. These results suggest that CsA and CypA may act on ductal cells to regulate saliva composition rather than salivation levels.
