The purpose of this study was to assess the effects and find the correlation of LOTCA-G and SS-QOL on the cognitive function and quality of life of elderly stroke patients. The time period of the experiment was from March 1, 2018 to March 30, 2018, and the study sample was composed of 102 stroke out-patients who participated in the rehabilitation center in G-city and received treatment of LOTCA-G and SS-QOL. The raw scores of the cognitive function of the elderly stroke patients varied depending on their gender, age, education, and marital status, but the differences were not statistically significant. Second, the raw scores of the quality of life of the elderly stroke patients varied depending on their gender, age, education, and marital status, but only marital status showed significance (p <0.01). The elderly stroke patients' cognitive function and the quality of life showed a statistically significant correlation (p <0.01). LOTCA-G and SS-QOL generally showed significant correlation even among sub-categories, but energy, one of the sub-categories of quality of life, did not show significant correlation with any of the other sub-categories of cognitive function. By combining the study results, it was possible to see that there were high levels of correlation between cognitive function and quality of life in elderly stroke patients shown through LOTCA-G and SS-QOL. Based on this study, if the raw scores of cognitive function and quality of life could be validated and various basic data could be provided for increasing quality of life, it can be considered that the stroke patients' quality of life will be improved.
This study is about the quality of life of cerebral infarction patients' guardians. A study of the factors influencing the quality of life and social support of people suffering with mental disabilities, who use mental health centers. The purpose of the study includes the general characteristics of subjects, characteristics of the mental health center, the mean score of social support and quality of life of people living with mental disabilities. The 132 questionnaires were administered by meeting directly with subjects and personal visits. 112 Questionnaires were returned(85% response rate). Data was collected from mentally disabled patients in Chungnam Mental Health Center. difference in quality of life by using t-test, one way ANOVA table, the relationship between social support, quality of life by pearson correlation coefficients, and relevant factors affecting quality of life by multiple regression with the SPSS 19.0 program. This study revealed that the group that participated regularly in the day time rehabilitation program showed better social support and positive attitude to a better quality of life than the other group that participated irregularly. This result is directly proportional to the participation frequency to the program during the recent 3-month duration. Another correlation with religion was found in the study due to the fact that a buddhist group showed positive significance in quality of life than non-religious groups. The results show positive correlation between the improvement of the quality of life of patients living with mental disabilities and the social support they receive.
This study investigated the relationship between the organizational culture, organizational support, organizational health, personal health, and quality of work life of dental hygienists and analyzed the factors affecting the quality of work life in order to identify ways to improve their quality of work life. A total of 320 dental hygienists completed a self-administered survey; after excluding data from 21 respondents, 299 responses were included in the analysis. Frequency analyses, t-tests, one-way analysis of variation (ANOVA), and correlation analyses were conducted. A path analysis was also conducted to confirm the causal relationships. The findings are as follows. First, there was a significant difference in several general characteristics of the organizational culture including years in the current job and the number of dental hygienists; organizational support including age and the number of dental hygienists; organizational health including years in the current job and annual salary; and personal health including annual salary. Second, the quality of work life showed a positive correlation with organizational culture, organizational support, personal health, and organizational health in that order. Third, the results of path analysis revealed that organizational culture had a positive effect on organizational support; organizational support and personal health on organizational health; organizational support on personal health; and organizational support and organizational health on quality of work life. In addition, organizational support and organizational health had a direct effect on the quality of work life, while organizational culture, organizational support, and personal health had an indirect effect. These results indicated existence of a relationship among organizational culture, organizational support, organizational health, personal health, and quality of work life. It is necessary to identify ways to improve the quality of work life of dental hygienists.

BACKGROUND/OBJECTIVES: Due to recent changes in social structure, single-person households are on the rise worldwide and therefore the interest in the quality of life of singles is increasing, but the research on the relationships related to their diet-related quality of life is scarce. This research analyzes the structural relations in the effect of convenience food satisfaction and quality of life according to dietary style of Korean, Japanese and Chinese singles. SUBJECTS/METHODS: The targets of this study were Korean, Japanese, and Chinese singles, identified as adults between the ages of 25 and 54, having economic capabilities or working and living alone, either legally or in actuality having no partner. A statistical analysis was conducted using SPSS12.0 for Windows and SEM using AMOS 5.0 statistics package. The reliability of these findings was supported by a Cronbach's alpha coefficient of 0.6 and higher for all the factors. In an attempt to study the level of satisfaction with convenience food in accordance to dietary style and the quality of life of singles, a structural equation model was constructed and analyzed. RESULTS: Of the three countries, regarding the effect of dietary style on singles' quality of life, the convenience-oriented style was found to have a negative effect on Korean singles' overall quality of life, but a positive effect on Japanese singles' overall quality of life, and a negative effect on Chinese singles' positive psychological aspect of quality of life. In addition, although Chinese singles have a high level of interest in health, they have an overall high level of satisfaction regarding fast food and its nutritional value. CONCLUSIONS: The number of singles in Korea, Japan, and China has been consistently increasing in recent years, and there is a need for continuous interest in their healthy dietary lifestyles in terms of convenience, economy, and taste.
The purposes of this study were to find out the effects of hospice care for the quality of life of the terminally - ill patients and to analyze the relationship between the effect of hospice care and the general characteristics of subjects. The subjects of the study were 32 terminally - ill patients hospitalized in the two general hospitals in Seoul, which have the hospice care unit. The data were collected using the questionnaire with interviews. They were done from Sept.28, 1989 to March 20, 1991. The purpose of this study was to assess the level of quality of life and related factors among the elderly in Korea. In particular, we focused on factors affecting the quality of life of the elderly in long term care. We used the third Korean National Health and Nutrition Examination Surveys (KNHANES) from 2005. We sampled a total of 3,571 (10.5%) elderly from the national survey. We compared the mean of quality of life to socioeconomic status, Activities of Daily Living (ADL), health behavior, and disease variables. We used EuroQol-5D among KNHANES to assess the quality of life. In this study, the mean score of the quality of life among the elderly was 2.57. Logistic regression showed that the elderly who were male, with spouses, with health insurance, and with good ADL levels enjoyed higher quality of life scores and odds ratios than those who were female, divorced, uninsured, and with low ADL levels (p<.05). The quality of life of the elderly was affected by socioeconomic, ADL, health behavior and disease variables. To improve long term care and the quality of life among the elderly, we need detailed research to clarify the effects of these factors.
