The Effects of Major Commitment Level by Department Climate among Students at the Department of Dental Hygiene (치위생과 학생이 인식한 학습풍토가 전공몰입에 미치는 영향)

  • In this study a survey was conducted with 431 students at the department of dental hygiene in three regions from April 2010 to investigate various actual states and levels of perception of their major commitment. Department-Climate and levels of major commitment were classified and described through cross-tabulation analysis; multinomial logistic regression analysis was used to predict the level of major commitment perceived for department climate and identify its influence. Major commitment classified into three levels about Inferiority, Normality and Superiority. Recognition factor of Major field was divided into external factor, eternal factor. External factor classified into professor, friends, facilities, administration-service and quality of education. As well as, eternal factor was department climate. Eternal factor consisted of relationship dimensions, goal-orientation dimensions, system maintenance dimensions and system change dimensions. This study was conducted to get a phenomenal understanding of students' learning in the major field and their school life. With this study, if friends and professor raise students at the Department of Dental Hygiene's department-climate recognition, their major-commitment will rise. And high major-commitment will be bring about their professional ability.

Changes of Chlorophyll and SOD-like Activities of Chinese Chives Dehydrated at Different Heat Treatments (부추의 건조 온도 조건별 클로로필, Superoxide Dismutase 유사활성의 변화)

  • Allium tuberosum Rotter (Liliaceae, Chinese chives) is a perennial herb of which leaves are used for food. This study investigated the effect of pretreatment on quality of dehydrated Chinese chives. Chinese chives was blanched at $80^{\circ}C$ for 20 sec, followed by drying at $70^{\circ}C$, $80^{\circ}C$, $100^{\circ}C$, or drying at $100^{\circ}C$ for 30 min and subsequent drying at $70^{\circ}C$, or $100^{\circ}C$ for 60 min and subsequent drying at $70^{\circ}C$. Optimum drying temperature and time was $100^{\circ}C$ for 30 min and subsequent drying at $70^{\circ}C$, or $100^{\circ}C$ for 60 min and subsequent drying at $70^{\circ}C$. These conditions were shortened time for dehydration and showed smaller decrease than others in Hunter color L, a, b. Dehydrated Chinese chives showed a constant decrease in greenness with storage, probably due to destruction of chlorophyll by light. In the measurement of Hunter color L, a, b, these conditions showed smaller decrease than others in Hunter color for 15 week storage. Chlorophyll content and SOD (superoxide dismutase)-like activity in that condition was higher than others. It was assumed that a phenolic compound that forms its thermostable activity. The fitness of drying models was conducted in order to explain reducing chlorophyll loss and SOD (superoxide dismutase)-like activity loss. Based upon the chlorophyll content, SOD-like activity, and retention of green color of the vegetable, optimum drying conditions was $100^{\circ}C$ for 30 min followed by $100^{\circ}C$ for 30 min and subsequent drying at $70^{\circ}C$, or $100^{\circ}C$ for 60 min and subsequent drying at $70^{\circ}C$.

The Qualities of Northern and Southern Ecotype Garlic Bulbs at Different Storage Temperature (한지형' 및 '난지형' 마늘의 저장온도에 따른 품질 특성)

  • This study was conducted to investigate the optimal sub-zero temperature for storage of two garlic cultivars, the northern ecotype 'Jaerae' and the southern ecotype 'Daeseo'. These cultivars of garlic bulbs were stored at different temperature (room temperature, $0^{\circ}C$, and $-4^{\circ}C$) conditions after predrying. Southern ecotype garlic showed higher weight loss than northern ecotype garlic. Northern ecotype garlic at $-4^{\circ}C$ exhibited less than 5% of weight loss during 10 month storage. Sprouting rate was higher in southern than in northern ecotype at room temperature storage. The value of injury by disease and insect was similar between southern ecotype and northern ecotype for 5 month storage, and then northern ecotype showed higher value of injury by disease and insect than southern ecotype. Hunter 'b' value of northern ecotype garlic was the lowest at $-4^{\circ}C$ storage. Northern ecotype garlic showed no cold injury at freezing point temperature storage. However, southern ecotype garlic had $0{\sim}5.3%$ cold injury occurrence at $-4^{\circ}C$ storage. Respiration and ethylene production exhibited the highest at room temperature storage, those had the slight increase at $0^{\circ}C$ and $-4^{\circ}C$ storages. Northern ecotype showed higher enzymatic pyruvic acid and fructan contents than those of southern ecotype. Enzymatic pyruvic acid content increased and fructan contents decreased during storage time.

A clinical study of East-West Pain Treatment on Chronic Headach Patients (만성두통환자에 대한 동서협진의 임상적 연구)

  • Objective : Because the cause and etiology of chronic headache are not yet fully explained, the treatment of this symptom is not simple. In order to study the effectiveness of East-West pain treatment on chronic headache, we evaluated its effect of pain alleviation and quality of life improvement on chronic headache patients who were treated with nerve block and acupuncture, and only acupuncture for eight weeks. Methods : 92 clinical experiment participants were gathered and through a questionnaire patients who experienced headache for more than 4 hours a day and more than 15 days per month were qualified as chronic headache patients. The qualified patients were classified into two groups, nerve block and acupuncture group(EW group, n=49) and acupuncture group(E group, n=43). Treatment was applied 2 times a weeks for 8 weeks. The acupoints, GV20, HN23, ST8, HN46, TE17, GB20, LI20O, LI11, LI14, ST36, and LR3 were stimulated for 20 minutes. The effects of two groups were analyzed using VAS scores and BPI(Brief Pain Inventory).

Effect of Chitosan-Ascorbate and Morea(roasted of oyster shell at $1300^{\circ}C$) on Growth of Contaminating Bacteria in Dombaeki(traditional shark dish) during Storage (돔배기의 저장 중 오염미생물의 생육에 미치는 키토산-아스코베이트 및 모려의 처리효과)

  • The effects of 0.01%(w/v) chitosan-ascorbate(CA) and 10 ppm morea on the number of total microbes, Escherichia coli levels, and growth of food poisoning bacteria in dombaeki during storage at $10^{\circ}C$ over 6 days were investigated. Total microbes in meat, cartilage, and skin of untreated samples increased by 4.24, 3.81, and 2.20 logs compared to the zero timepoint, respectively, but, in CA-treated samples, counts fell by 2.66, 2.37, and 1.24 logs. Total microbial levels in morea-treated meat, cartilage, and skin showed similar tendencies but the effects were slightly less than seen in CA-treated samples. E. coli numbers in CA-treated meat, cartilage, and skin stored for 6 days decreased by 1.69, 1.25, and 1.52 logs respectively, compared with control samples. Morea-treated samples showed similar falls, but the effects were again slightly less than seen after CA-treatment. Both Salmonella and Vibrio parahaemolyticus were detected in untreated meat stored for 3 or 6 days. Food poisoning bacteria were found in both untreated and morea-treated samples stored over 6 days. However, no such bacteria were detected in CA-treated samples. Also, CA-treated meat, cartilage, and skin showed low degrees of degeneration. Thus, CA treatment enhanced shelf-life and dombaeki quality by inhibiting microorganism growth and tissue breakdown during storage.

Quality of Freeze Dried Kimchi (동결건조 김치의 품질)

  • The objective of this study was to improve the shelf-life of kimchi by freeze drying. Kimchi was freeze dried and stored at $0^{\circ}C$, $5^{\circ}C$ and $28^{\circ}C$ for 60 days. It was reconstituted with water at an interval of ten days and number of total lactic acid bacteria(LAB), sensory properties and shape/color were observed. The results were as follows: (1) Number of total LAB of sample stored at $0^{\circ}C$ or $5^{\circ}C$ for 60 days decreased gradually and the value of 10 day-sample and 30 day-sample was significantly different from the value of 0 day-sample and 20 day-sample, respectively (p<0.05). Number of total LAB of sample stored at $28^{\circ}C$ decreased more rapidly in comparison with that of sample stored at $0^{\circ}C\;or\;5^{\circ}C$. (2) Overall acceptability, taste, moistness and chewiness of freeze dried/reconstituted kimchi slightly decreased by freeze drying. However, acceptability of freeze dried/reconstituted kimchi was relatively good. (3) Overall acceptability of freeze dried/10 days-stored/reconstituted sample was slightly lower than that of reference sample (not-freeze dried sample). Overall acceptability of sample stored at $28^{\circ}C$ for 50 days decreased substantially in comparison with sample stored at $28^{\circ}C$ for 10 day. (4) In case of freeze dried/stored samples, sensory properties of sample stored at $5^{\circ}C$ for 60 days were not different from those of reference(sample stored at $0^{\circ}C$). Overall acceptability, taste, texture and crispness of sample stored at $28^{\circ}C$ started to decrease after 10 days. Odor and color of sample stored at $28^{\circ}C$ were changed after 50 days and 60 days, respectively.

Management of Non-pain Symptoms in Terminally Ill Cancer Patients: Based on National Comprehensive Cancer Network Guidelines (말기암환자에서 통증 외 증상의 관리: 최신 NCCN(National Comprehensive Cancer Netweork) 권고안을 중심으로)

  • Most terminally ill cancer patients experience various physical and psychological symptoms during their illness. In addition to pain, they commonly suffer from fatigue, anorexia-cachexia syndrome, nausea, vomiting and dyspnea. In this paper, I reviewed some of the common non-pain symptoms in terminally ill cancer patients, based on the National Comprehensive Cancer Network (NCCN) guidelines to better understand and treat cancer patients. Cancer-related fatigue (CRF) is a common symptom in terminally ill cancer patients. There are reversible causes of fatigue, which include anemia, sleep disturbance, malnutrition, pain, depression and anxiety, medical comorbidities, hyperthyroidism and hypogonadism. Energy conservation and education are recommended as central management for CRF. Corticosteroid and psychostimulants can be used as well. The anorexia and cachexia syndrome has reversible causes and should be managed. It includes stomatitis, constipation and uncontrolled severe symptoms such as pain or dyspnea, delirium, nausea/vomiting, depression and gastroparesis. To manage the syndrome, it is important to provide emotional support and inform the patient and family of the natural history of the disease. Megesteol acetate, dronabinol and corticosteroid can be helpful. Nausea and vomiting will occur by potentially reversible causes including drug consumption, uremia, infection, anxiety, constipation, gastric irritation and proximal gastrointestinal obstruction. Metoclopramide, haloperidol, olanzapine and ondansetron can be used to manage nausea and vomiting. Dyspnea is common even in terminally ill cancer patients without lung disease. Opioids are effective for symptomatic management of dyspnea. To improve the quality of life for terminally ill cancer patients, we should try to ameliorate these symptoms by paying more attention to patients and understanding of management principles.

And is the purpose to draw diachronic and synthetic thought between age and genre is forming by ecological imagination how. Our korean verse thinks of nature as residing space, and is singing life that is nature friendship and nature assimilation in relation of indivisibility sto of human and nature. And nature space of metaphor or symbol is forming by ecological imagination in the modern novel. Therefore, these two genres see that traffic is available in diachronic synthetic relation. First, must escape resolutely in ideas that literature is basing in actuality and search the literature-ecological imagination. Therefore, forward literature may have to look for the literature-ecological imagination with many interests to green literature ecology and show image that move constantly. And must approach appearing common view of nature and the literature-ecological imagination in principle of integration of expropriation and production now all round to our literary productions. Therefore, must do so that can be nature friendship and become practical education model that expropriation of ecological literary productions and production activity foster literary sensibility and imagination. Also, lively research and groping about each genre of a Korean literature are to premised in diachronic and synthetic veins I will. Method groping that adapt on New Age as defending peculiar special quality that founder is keeping korean verse with opened thinking may have to be spread more hard. Therefore, genre of novel can may ready the one clue to grope confrontation method naturally to secure new identity in new literature environment of digital age.

  • This study is concerned on Why The Certified Security certification is needed and How to control the security quality to get better service to the clients. Theses days are required The Certified Certificate in all the industry. And in this point of view, the certified certificate is a kind of confirmation by an authority to the person who has how much special knowledge and practice in a certain field. Moreover, in the functionalism society the certified certificate system would be very positive effect to the related industry and society as official measurement by an authority. The security is freedom from fear and anxiety. Which means the security can not be operated in isolation from citizen's safe-living expectation, and which is also dealing with valuable human being's life. For getting the better purpose the security industry employees should have more organized special training and education. As my understanding the certified certificate exam system is the confirmation by an authority, the certified certificate is only neutral evidence to get the confidence and credit from the clients. In this point of view the core point is How to control The Certified Certificate by a credied authority.

Linkage Map and Quantitative Trait Loci(QTL) on Pig Chromosome 6 (돼지 염색체 6번의 연관지도 및 양적형질 유전자좌위 탐색)

  • The objective of this study was to identify the quantitative traits loci(QTL) for economically important traits such as growth, carcass and meat quality on pig chromosome 6. A three generation resource population was constructed from cross between Korean native boars and Landrace sows. A total of 240 F$_2$ animals were produced using intercross between 10 boars and 31 sows of F$_1$ animals. Phenotypic data including body weight at 3 weeks, backfat thickness, muscle pH, shear force and crude protein level were collected from F$_2$ animals. Animals including grandparents(F$_0$), parents(F$_1$) and offspring(F$_2$) were genotyped for 29 microsatellite markers and PCR-RFLP marker on chromosome 6. The linkage analysis was performed using CRI-MAP software version 2.4(Green et al., 1990) with FIXED option to obtain the map distances. The total length of SSC6 linkage map estimated in this study was 169.3cM. The average distance between adjacent markers was 6.05cM. For mapping of QTL, we used F$_2$ QTL Analysis Servlet of QTL express, a web-based QTL mapping tool(http://qtl.cap.ed.ac.uk). Five QTLs were detected at 5% chromosome-wide level for body weight of 3 weeks of age, shear force, meat pH at 24 hours after slaughtering, backfat thickness and crude protein level on SSC6.
