In this study, as part of an effort to help North Korean defectors adapt to South Korean society in the era of digital transformation, we attempted to analyze factors that affect North Korean defectors' satisfaction with self-employed tax agency services. The research method was analyzed using exploratory factor analysis and structural equation techniques using the LISREL statistical package. The research results are summarized as follows. First, the factors affecting the satisfaction of North Korean defector self-employed tax agency service users were identified as tax accountant characteristics and user characteristics. Second, for self-employed North Korean defectors in South Korean society, improving user characteristics is important in the initial settlement stage, strengthening tax accountant characteristics along with user characteristics is important in the mid-term settlement stage, and only strengthening tax accountant characteristics is significant in the long term. These research results are interpreted as having a great influence on the lifestyle and culture of North Korean society where North Korean defectors lived.

In order to celebrate the sixtieth anniversary of the Korean Geographical Society, this paper briefly reviews the development of Korean Geography and its contribution to society. There is no doubt that Korean Geography has become a major subject as a professional Held of study and developed diverse sub-fields. At the same time, individual scholars have positively engaged in advising government on policy making issues, and a trend has developed whereby many scholars tend to find work in major research institutions rather than in universities. These scholars are also contributing to society through professional publications and by their involvement in national/international geographical manors. For the next generation, it is imperative that geographers in Korea meet the national demands of the subject as a professional field and continue to promote the practical necessity of geography together with its identity within the academic circles.

The authority and reputation of a medical journal is based on the number of received citations. Korean Medical Citation Index [KoMCI] provides information about citations of Korean medical journals since 2002. All six issues of KoMCI [from 2000 to 2005] were used for analysis. Citations, impact factor, and their changes were evaluated. We compared the data of Journal of Korean Neurosurgical Society[JKNS] with other Korean medical journals. The impact factor[IF] of 2005 maintained increased value since 2004, although the impact factor excluding self citation[ZIF] returned previous low value. Improvement in proportion of Korean citations and in proportions of non-self received citations were encouraging changes. Although there were some improvements, the status of JKNS with respect to ZIF is still behind other Korean medical journals selected for comparison. Improvement of the status of JKNS by aid of KoMCI and enhanced reputation of KoMCI by its positive influence on JKNS or other Korean medical journals will be beneficial to members and medical societies of Korea.

Objectives : This study aimed to evaluate adverse outcome associated with acupotomy and compare it with that of acupuncture. Methods : We retrospectively analyzed the chart records of 71 patients who received acupotomy at Daemyung Korean medical clinic from January 7, 2020 to March 6, 2020. We divided the acupotomy treatment area into 10, including the head, hand, chest, knees, shoulders, low back, neck, upper extremities, thighs, and feet. Furthermore, we investigated the adverse effect of acupotomy on those areas after treatment. Data were analyzed using descriptive statistics, and frequency analysis. Results : 'Bruise of specific region' accounted for the largest portion with 29 cases, followed by 24 cases of 'feeling tired and sleepy' and 17 cases of 'itch'. There were 16 cases of 'sustained pain' at the area of treatment, 11 cases of 'fatigue', 5 cases of 'swelling', 5 cases of 'dizziness', 4 cases of 'hematoma'. There were 3 cases of 'vertigo' and 2 cases of 'parathesia' and 'wide bruises', 'headache', 'gastric discomfort', 'bleeding', and 'skin rash' each. There was one case each that experienced 'unclear pronunciation', 'nausea', 'abnormal sweating', 'vomiting' and 'emotional/psychological reactions'. Conclusions : Adverse outcomes associated with acupotomy were mostly 'bruise of specific region', 'feeling tired and sleepy', 'itch', 'sustatained pain', and 'fatigue'. However, no adverse outcome or irreversible damage that have a serious effect on the body were observed.

This study aims to search for policy strategies for settlement of North Korean defectors in Korean society, develop strategies based on the results and present their implications. For the purposes, this study set up a cause and effect model referring to previous bibliographical and statistical data. The results are presented as follows: First, to overcome anxiety of exposure in the defectors, personal information should be protected. Second, their psychological problems should be solved and they should be emotionally stable for better adaptation to Korean society. Third, keeping in mind that North Korean defectors are Korean people, the issue of nationality should be institutionally managed. Fourth, as one of difficulties they have is economic problems, practical support measures should be developed to solve them. Fifth, the federal government and local governments should be active in changing their recognition on them and provide the Korean community education for citizens to resolve cultural differences.

The Korean Society for Thoracic and Cardiovascular Surgery (KTCVS) was founded in 1968 and celebrated the 50th anniversary of its founding in 2018. The launch of the KTCVS may seem somewhat recent, given that the American Association for Thoracic Surgery was founded in 1917. However, considering the circumstances of the Korean medical community after the Japanese occupation (1910-1945), World War II (1940-1945), and the Korean War (1950-1953), this apparent delay is understandable. Even before the foundation of the KTCVS, the early pioneers of thoracic and cardiovascular surgery promptly adopted medical technologies from more advanced countries such as the United States, and contributed significantly to both cardiac and thoracic surgery despite difficult circumstances. In 2012, before the 50th anniversary of the founding of the KTCVS, members shared the opinion that objective records of the activities of the early pioneers should be identified and preserved, and reacted positively towards the necessity for historians who would preserve such records. With this background, the Historical Records Preservation Committee of the KTCVS (hereinafter, referred to as 'the Committee') was launched. The Committee published a white paper on the history of thoracic and cardiovascular surgery in 2015 and held an exhibition of the achievements of the pioneers at the 50th anniversary of the founding of the KTCVS. The Committee also published a book entitled "The history of Korean thoracic surgery with photographs: celebrating the 50th anniversary of the society." The Committee will keep making efforts to find and preserve materials related to activities during the early development of thoracic and cardiovascular surgery in Korea.
