A clinical review of Benign Paroxysmal Positional Vertigo Patient-1 case (양성 발작성 체위성 현훈 환자 치험 1례)

  • Vertigo is one of the common symptoms that we can see often clinically. It is hallucination to motion of oneself or surroundings. Vertigo include not only simple whirling sensation but also leaning or falling down sensation. Particularly in benign paroxysmal positional vertigo(BPPV), the principal symptom is dizziness and accompanied by nausea, lightheadness, vomiting. They are induced by positional change which like shake ones head or lay down or turn over in one' s sleep. Cause of BPPV is otoconium fragments which are released from inner ear and stimulate ampulla of semicircular canal. So in treatment BPPV, we often using the Dix-hallpike maneuver that realignment otoconium fragments. A case of vertigo patient suggested BPPV who is diagnosed oriental medically as weakly dizziness showed prominent improvement by medicate Bojungikgi-tang and operate otoconium-realignmentation (improved Dix-hallpike maneuver) maneuver so we reported.

  • Trigeminal neuralgia is nerve systematic disease appearing in the distribution scope of trigeminal nerve. It's characterized by extreme pain accompanying with a repeated and simultaneous fit from several seconds to 1-2 minutes. The oriental medical name of trigeminal neuralgia is generally Dootong, Doopoong, Myuntong, Pyundootong, Pyundoopoong, and Myuntong is the nearest in Occidental medicine. So I study for general prescription of Trigeminal neuralgia and point out Galgunhaegui-tang(葛根解肌湯). Trigeminal neuralgia patients were given Galgunhaegui-tang. After taking Galgunhaegui-tang, the patients's Trigeminal neuralgia was improved.

  • Background: Atopic dermatitis is chronic exzemaous dermatosis characterized by severe itching, licalized eruption and chronic relapsing progress and has familu history of atopic diseases and hereditary disposition. This Study is attempted in order to estimate of possibility of oriental treatment on atopic dermatitis. Objective: We studied 24 years old women with atopic dermatitis from June 2004 to July 2004 Method: We treated her with herb medication and used three index to assess the severity of atopic dermatitis. Results: Each index show us about 50-60$\%$ of improvement Conclusion: On the basis of this study, It should be considered that treatment of atopic dermatitis should be focused on fever of yang-ming.

  • Introduction: Atopic dermatitis is chronic eczematous recurrent disease of skin and till now its mechanism is not cleary known. It is related to a family history of atopic disease. It has severe itching and it causes eczema secondarily. Atopic dermatitis has mostly severe symptoms and progresses to chronic relapsing. Objectives: The purpose of this study was to estimate the efficacy of herb- medicine treatment on atopic dermatitis. Subjects: 1 treated 5 patients who visited Chungbalsan Kyunghee oriental medical clinic with atopic dermatitis from September, 2001 to October, 2002 partiticipated in the study and were observed for over 2 months.   • Objective: The purpose of this study is to report the effectiveness of Sihochunggan-tang gagambang in the four patients with eczema ongroin, inner thigh.Methods: This case study was conducted for four groin, inner thigh eczema patients who have visited Korean Medicine Clinic. Sihochunggan-tang gagambang was prescribed to all four patients and evaluated the symptom change through photographs and two assessment methods. The assessment methods are Atopic Dermatitis Severity Index(ADSI) and Visual Analogue Scale(VAS). ADSI was used to evaluate the objective symptom change and VAS was used to evaluate the subjective symptom change.Results & Conclusion: The ADSI and VAS were decreased compared to the first in all four patients in our study. And most symptoms of four patients were improved. As a result of examining ADSI, VAS scores and photographs, Sihochunggan-tang gagambang can be effective on the groin, inner thigh eczema in four cases in our study.

  • Background & Objective : Microneedle therapy system(MTS) is popular these days. However, there are few reports about it in oriental medicine academia. This study is performed to evaluate the effect of MTS on acne patients. Methods : This study was conducted to evaluate the effect of MTS. Seven patients were treated for 7 weeks. Follow-up was performed after the treatment with Janus facial analysis system, skindex-29 and Digital Infrared Thermographic Imaging machine. Satisfaction degree and inconvenience were asked from the patients. Results and Conclusions : Microneedle therapy system(MTS) was good for acne like pore, wrinkle, spot(polarised), sebum, porphyrin and skin tone. Especially it had excellent effects on sebum and porphyrin.

  • Objectives : Ceramic based intra-red Therapy has been effective on dermatitis and immune system. The purpose of this study was to know the clinical effect of ceramic based infra-red therapy on Atopic Dermatitis(AD). Methods: For 3 months from Dec. 2003 to Feb. 2004, we treated ceramic based intra-red therapy to 21 outpatients with AD who visited Hana Oriental hospital. Ceramic based infra-red therapy using GI-2000 system was lighted to undressed outpatients for 15 minutes, three times a week. Results and Conclusions: Ceramic based intra-red therapy showed useful effect on AD, especially itching sign.

  • Otitis media has severe purulent otorrhea and hearing loss. While this patient has been treated with the Western medicine for several years, he could not expect more improvement. We experienced a good result with Sonbanghwalmyongum at this case and this report is to evaluate the effect of Sonbanghwalmyongum in otitis media. Oriental medical treatment can be an alternative choice for Western medical treatment of long term antibiotics and we expect more constructive studies and clinical reports.

  • Background & Objective : Rejuvenate treatment with oriental medicine is popular these days. However, there are few reports about it. This study was performed to evaluate the effect of derma stamp treatment. Derma stamp is a new clinical equipment for Microneedle System. Methods : Restrospective study was conducted. Ten patients were treated for 5 weeks. Follow-up was performed after the treatment with Janus facial analysis system. Satisfaction degree was asked from the patients. Results and Conclusions : Derma stamp treatment was good for skin aging problems like pore, wrinkle, spot, sebum and porphyrin. Especially oily type had better effect than dry type.

  • Dyshidrotic eczema is a chronic vesicular skin disease due to stress, sweating and nickel dermatitis. It has the characteristic symptoms of a cluster of vesicles and frequent recurrence. We diagnosed a 63-year old male patient case with hyperkeratosis, itching and vesicles at his right foot as dyshidrotic eczema and treated him with application of herbal medicine(bo-jung-ik-ki-tang) and acupunture at Dong-su Oriental-medicine hospital in 2003. We had a good result, so we report this case.
