Phototherapy has perpetual history. we can see an instance of it in Yellow Emperor's Canon of Medicine(黃帝內徑) and Laser therapy is a field of Phototherapy being used frequently in the latest time. We treated patients with hyperpigmentation by laser therapy and experimented it's efficacy and studied the means of clinical application in Korean medicine. We report the capabilities of application of laser therapy, based on the Korean medical theories by using resemblance between laser therapy with kyung-rak(經絡) control technique in the line that connects with the past.

Chunggisan has been widely used in treatment of urticaria which is based on. Oriental Medical literatures. These studies were attempted experimental effects of chunggisan on the analgesia, sedation, antipyretic, anti-inflammatory and isolated illeum of the experimental animals. The result of the studies were as follows: 1. The inhibitory effect was recognized on the Analgesic study by the Acetic acid Method in mice. 2. The spontaneous momentum of mice was restricted and the duration of Hypnosis induced by pentobarbital-sodium in mice was prolonged. 3. Anti-inflammatory effect was recognized significantly on the rat hind paws edema induced by dextran. 4. The inhibitory effect of leukocyte emigration was recognized by the CMC airpouch method of rats. 5. The inhibitory effect was noted on capillary permeability induced by histamin in mice. 6. Spontaneous mobilities in isolated ileum of mice were significantly suppressed, and contraction by acetylcholine, barium chloride and histamine were inhibited. According to the above results, it is expected that chunggisan can be widely used in treatment of urticaria.

Aebaegeum has been widely used in the treatment of epistaxis, as based on Oriental Medical 1iteratures. In order to investigate experimentally the clinical effects of Aebaegeum, hemostatic time, plasma recalcification time and prothrombin time of hypoprothrombinemia induced by warfarin injection, action on isolated ileum, action on blood vessel, action on blood pressure and respiration and action on heart were observed. The result of the studies were obtained as follows: 1. Hemostatic time of vein ruptured mice was significantly shortened. 2. Plasma recalification time and prothrombin time of hypoprothrombinemic rats induced by warfarin injection were significantly shortened. 3. Spontaneous mobilities in the isolated ileum of mice were significantly suppressed, and contraction by acetylcholine chloride and barium chloride were inhibited. 4. Dilatation of blood vessel and downing of blood pressure of rabbit were noted. 5. Contraction of heart in the original position and isolated heart of frog were significantly shortened. According to the above result, it is expected that Aebaegeum can be widely applicable to the treatment of epistaxis.

Taklysodoksan(TSS) was a drug used in the treatment of carbuncle and cellulitis in oriental medicine. The purpose of this Study is to investigate the anti-cancer effect of TSS, the proliferation of immunocytes and nitric oxide(NO) production from peritoneal macrophages of mice. This Study estimated the proliferation of Ll210 cell lines, mouse thymocytes and splenocytes and NO production from peritoneal macrophages in vitro and vivo. The proliferation of cells was tested using a colorimetric tetrazoliun assay(MTT assay). From the in vitro and vivo Study of TSS treatment, it did not effect the proliferation of L1210 cells. It also did not have any positive prodution of NO in peritoneal macrophages. This results suggest that TSS treatment in WanBingHuiChun(萬病回春) did not have significant anti-cancer effect and immuno-action comparing with TSS treatment of WaiKeZhengZhong(外科正宗).

Objectives : This study was performed to report two cases of improved hemifacial spasm by herbal remedy and moxa-treatment. Methods : This study calendered the improvements of symptoms of two patients with hemifacial spasm who visited the author's clinic. Ukgansangamibang(抑肝散加味方) and moxa-treatment on chung-wan(CV12) were prescribed to the patients concerned due to their antipathy against acupuncture treatment. Results : Significant improvements were observered from both patients not only for hemifacial spasm but neuropsychosis-related symptoms Conclusion : The study shows remarkable results of the efficacy of herb remedy and moxa-treatment, for the treatment of hemifacial spasm , however the cases investigated in this study were only two(2). Therefore, more studies should be followed to support the efficacy of Oriental Medicine for the treatment of hemifacial spasm.

Herbal medicines are popular in Korea communities and used for a variety of diseases, and most herbal medicines has been used an oral administration for treating diseases, but some herbal medicines included Jawoongo has been used by applying on the skin. Jawoongo, a traditional oriental medicine ointment, have been used for treating various dermatitis associated with skin diseases such as tinea manuum, eczema and chilblain, etc. by promoting blood flow(活血), dispersing wind(散風) and moistening(潤燥). Jawoongo used in this study is derived from Yungigo supplemented with Adeps Suillus(豚脂). The aim of this study is to investigate the effect of Jawoongo plus Rehmanniae Radix(生地黃) on the healing of incisional skin wound in rats. After inducing an inflammation on the rats, we observed the amount of Leukocyte, the level of Cortisol and CRP(C-reactive protein), the histological parts and have obtained the healing effect of wound by using Jawoongo plus Rehmanniae Radix(生地黃).

Obective : This study was designed to investigated clinical features and frequent parts of chronic paranasal sinusitis Method : The ratio of male and female, the distribution of symptoms, the frequent parts of paranasal sinusitis on PNS images were investigated in 26 patients who visited Department of otorhinolaryngology Semyung university Oriental medical hostipal during from march, 2004 to october, 2004. Results: 1. The ratio of male and female was 1:1.5 and the teens were high rate of age group 2. The results reveal1he most common symptoms as follows ; nasal stuffiness(28.1$\%$), rhinorrhea26.5$\%$), laryngopharyngial disorder(14$\%$). 3. The frequent parts of paranasal sinusitis on PNS images were ethmodial sinus, maxillary sinus, fronal sinus in good order. 4. 87.5$\%$ of patients show effective result in medical treatment Conclusion: We suggest that this results form the foundation of objectification of medical treatment of paranasal sinusitis

Objectives : The object of this literature study is to investigate the external treatment of seborrheic dermatitis. Methods : We have selected data related to the external treatment of seborrheic dermatitis on the literature of Oriental medicine. And we analyzed the study. Results : 1. The external treatment of seborrheic dermatitis is fundamental treatment. There are several external treatment, these are paint-treatment, shampoo-treatment and pillow-treatment. 2. Prescription used in external treatment of seborrheic dermatitis is Yungi-go(潤肌膏), Okgi-san(玉肌散), Yongnoe-go(龍腦膏), Johyub-tang(皂莢湯). 3. Herb used in external treatment of seborrheic dermatitis is Angelicae dahuricae Radix(白芷), Lysimachia foenumgraecum Hance(零陵香), Veratri Nigri Rhizoma Et Radix(藜蘆), Cannabis Fructus(大麻). Conclusions : Through literatual Study, we basically understood the external treatment of seborrheic dermatitis. In the study of external treatment, it seems that further clinical studies on seborrheic dermatitis treatment.

We think that we know what alopecia is. But in detail, we have nothing of alopecia areata. Many kinds of alopecia make us be confused. So, I studied the history ( name, cause, treatment etc,) of alopecia areata through the oriental and occidental medical books. As a result, the investigation of alopecia areata was led to the next conclusions 1. Synonyms of alopecia areata are Bandok(斑禿), Docbal(禿髮), Guyjidu(귀지두), Guychedu(鬼剃頭), Gyobalsun(咬髮癬). 2. Generally, the cause of alopecia areata is classified into three groups. Those are hyeolheopungjo(血虛風燥), Chichehyeoleo(氣滯血瘀), Gansinbujoc(肝腎不足). 3. The important internal uses of alopecia areata are Sineungyangjin-Dan(神應養眞丹), Soyosan plus Tonggyuhwalhyeoltang(逍遙散合通竅活血湯), Chilbomiyuom-Dan(七寶美髥丹) etc. 4. The important external uses of alopecia areata are haeaetang(海艾湯), Suncheukbackyeop(鮮側柏葉), Old ginger(老薑), Leaf of mulberry tree(桑葉) etc. 5. The kinds of Acupunture therapy are Maehwachim(梅花針), Chilsungchim(七星針), Ear acupunture(耳針) etc.

ShingongNaetakSan(SNS) was drugs used in treatment of carbuncle and cellulitis in Oriental So, the purpose of this Study was to investigate effect of SNS on the proliferation of immunocytes and anti-cancer. This Study estimated the proliferation of L1210 cell lines and S-180 cell lines in vitro. and estimated the proliferation of L1210 cells, thymocytes and splenocytes, and tumor weight, body weight and mean survival rates in vivo. The proliferation and cytotoxicity of cells was tested using a colorimetric tetrazoliun assy(MTT assy). The results of this study were obtained as follow ; SNS had effect on the proliferation of L1210 cells in vitro and splenocytes in vivo, and SNS decreased significantly tumor weight, and increased significantly mean survival rates.
