Purpose: This study utilized secondary data and investigated the factors associated with life satisfaction by living arrangements among community-dwelling adults aged 65 years or older in Korea. Methods: A total of 2,134 participants were selected from the 2014 Korean Longitudinal Study of Aging (KLoSA). Univariable and multivariable logistic regression were used for data analysis. Results: The significant factors associated with life satisfaction in older adults living with others were education level (odds ratio [OR] 1.73, 95% confidence interval [CI] 1.41~2.11), place of residence in medium-size city (OR 1.57, 95% CI 1.25~1.97), place of residence in rural town(OR 1.52, 95% CI 1.19~1.95), depression (OR 2.99, 95% CI 2.43~3.68), frequency of contact with neighbors (OR 1.39, 95% CI 1.10~1.76), and social participation (OR 1.48, 95% CI 1.14~1.93). In contrast, factors associated with life satisfaction among older adults living alone were education level (OR 1.93, 95% CI 1.15~3.24) and depression (OR 2.49, 95% CI 1.48~4.19). Conclusion: These findings indicated that nursing interventions for improving life satisfaction among older adults should take into account their specific living arrangements.

This study examined how the spatial features, such as the standards of facilities and floor plan of a university dormitory affect the academic achievements. This thesis reports the implications of the management of local universities through the optimization of dormitory environments and provides guidelines for the development of local universities in the face of a decrease in the number of the students. The following results were drawn from a case study of 'S' University which is situated in North Chungcheong Province. First, the students' academic achievements improved with increasing quality of the overall university dormitory. The results show that the dormitory is not only the living space but also the learning space. Considering that an improvement in the students' academic achievements can affect the employment rate of college graduates, providing students with pleasant amenities is very important. Second, the results showed that the academic achievements vary with the spatial characteristics of the residential space; the academic results deteriorated with increasing number of students who share a room. The results of this analysis suggest that a flexible dwelling space that enables the multiple-use residential space to be remodeled into single or double rooms, is very important when facing a decrease in the number of students and the difficult financial stability of the university.
Objective : The purpose of this study was to analyze the format and effects of lifestyle intervention provided to community dwelling older adults. This systematic review was written following the PRISMA guideline. Methods : The National Digital Science Library(NDSL), RISS, PubMed, and CINAHL were used to search for articles published from January 2008 to December 2017. In total, 20 articles were selected for the analysis and the risk of bias was screened through the Physiotherapy Evidence Database Scale. Lifestyle interventions in the articles were classified according to the disease of the participants. Results : Major contents of the lifestyle interventions were increased physical activity like moderately intensive exercise and education or training to help participants have a healthy diet. Of the 20 articles, 17 included more than 2 types of contents. Examining biochemical factors was the most common measurement among the multifaceted measurements used to assess the effects of lifestyle interventions. The results of the lifestyle interventions described in each article did not indicate congruent effects. 14 of the 20 articles reported the lifestyle interventions had significant effects. Conclusions : The results of this study could help practitioners select the contents of and provide lifestyle interventions to older adults. Further study on the various applications of lifestyle interventions in a community setting is necessary.
Objective : The purpose of this study was to analyze group programs for the elderly living in communities and to provide basic data for applying effective occupational therapy programs for the elderly in the community. Methods : From January 2009 to December 2019, articles on group programs for the elderly in the community were searched for in the NDSL, DBPia, Riss, and PubMed databases. Based on the inclusion and exclusion criteria, a total 16 out of the 147 identified studies were selected and analyzed. This review analyzed the characteristics of the participants, contents of the group program, session and duration of the intervention, outcome measures, and effect of the group program. Results : Single group pre-post test studies with evidence level III were most common (8, 50.0%), and five (31.3%) of the studies were conducted on the community-dwelling elderly. Across all the 16 studies, there were 10 types of group programs, and the most frequently used was an exercise group program (25.0%). According to the analysis of the group program period, sessions and time, the intervention period was most commonly 12 weeks (37.5%), with 8 sessions or 12 sessions (25.0%). The intervention time in the group program was most commonly 60 minutes (43.8%). Conclusion : This study can be used as a basis for the development of effective group programs for the elderly and patients with dementia in community-based long-term care services.
Dwelling connotes characteristics like social and cultural and technical climatic conditions, lifestyles and demands of regions, and especially, apartment, as one of dwelling types, shows various aspects of modern society. With the economic development centering on large cities, apartments have been established as universal housing forms in Seoul and Shanghai. The deepening of economic development in cities has increased small households consisting of one or two persons by affecting the population and household structure, and they've become information consumer groups. This has also influenced the size of apartment and increased the demand for small-sized housing. If the floor area is small, it is possible to use space widely according to the plan composition, so there is a need for floor planning to understand natural environment, physical environment and residents. This study compared and analyzed plan compositions of small-sized apartments which have been parceled out for the recent three years in Seoul and Shanghai. This study aims to understand housing cultures and users in the two countries depending on natural environments, living habits and spatial functions by analyzing common points and differences of public spaces like living room, dining room and kitchen, and private spaces like bedroom which have absolute effects on room arrangement and traffic line. The study results are as follows. From the perspective of natural environments, in Seoul, two-sided open cross-ventilation structure where is favorable to lighting and ventilation, occupied the biggest proportion of public space, while in Shanghai, most public spaces had lighting and ventilation structures through windows in each room. In Seoul, 3R type occupied the largest proportion of private space(87.7%), and privacy was maintained and space scale was adjusted using spaces with diverse functions such as bathroom in the couple bedroom, dress room and powder room and variable walls. But 2R type occupied the largest proportion of private space(60.2%) in Shanghai, and they emphasized private space and privacy of each room depending on major living habits. In conclusion, this study for comparing and analyzing common points and differences of small-sized apartment plan compositions in Seoul and Shanghai will provide proper guidelines for small-sized apartments to be built in Seoul and Shanghai in the future, if strong points and weak points of plan compositions in the two countries will be additionally analyzed and remedied.
Objective : This study investigated the prevalence of dysphagia in older adults in Gangwon Special Self-Governing Province and its impact on Quality of Life (QoL) and educational needs. Methods : A cross-sectional survey was conducted from August 1 to 15, 2023, with 207 cognitively normal older adults from three senior welfare centers. Data included general characteristics, Korean-version of the Eating Assessment Tool (K-EAT-10), Swallowing-QoL, and educational needs related to swallowing disorders. Dysphagia was defined by a K-EAT-10 score of 3 or higher. Participants were divided into normal and risk groups for analysis using chi-square and Independent t-test. Results : The prevalence of dysphagia risk (K-EAT-10 score of 3 or higher) was 41.5% (86 individuals). Among the 92 individuals reporting dysphagia symptoms, 64 (69.6%) were at risk. QoL was significantly lower in the risk group, especially among those living alone or with denture discomfort. The most preferred educational need was training in eating solid foods (Mean = 4.27), with higher needs in the dysphagia risk group. Conclusion : This study underscores the prevalence of dysphagia, its impact on QoL, and the need for educational programs. Emphasizing prevention, public awareness, and early detection, along with the role of dysphagia rehabilitation experts and community collaboration, is essential for supporting healthy aging.

This study is a descriptive research to analyze psychosocial factors affecting health behavior adherence among community-dwelling older adults undergoing Percutaneous Coronary Intervention. Data were collected with structured questionnaires from 126 patients discharged after hospitalization from a university hospital in J city, Gyeongnam, from July 15 to October 2 in 2018, and analyzed using SPSS/WIN 21.0. The result shows that the general characteristics, such as existence of spouse, education level, subjective health status, and subjective life satisfaction, have a significant influence on health behavior adherence. The research also identifies that medical support and resilience are positively correlated with health behavior adherence. In contrast, perceived stress, 3 sub-categories from perceived stress such as, family relations, anxiety and withdrawal, poverty and finance, and depression are negatively correlated. In the multiple regression analysis, resilience, perceived stress from poverty and finance, education level, and subjective life satisfaction explained 27.9% of health behavior adherence among older adults undergoing Percutaneous Coronary Intervention. Based on the results of this study, it is necessary to develop and apply a nursing intervention program to improve the health behavior adherence of local older adults who had Percutaneous Coronary Intervention.
In the meantime, the study of traditional and contemporary house had been produced so many achievements in korea, but modern house is yet to be solved, Accordingly, It is necessary to develop and present the basic research data in order to build up an objective study for urban house in the modern age(1910-1945), Following to a study on the foreigner's house in grid-type settlement of Open Ports, in this research is to investigate and analyze modern houses of urban areas in korean inland, and then clarify types and changes of them. In the first year($1995{\sim}96$), the modern houses of Central Inland Districts(arrounding river Kumgang)-Kunsan kanggyong Puyo Kongju Pugang Chongju were investigated by the layout of room, the construction and materials, the design and style, etc. In the second year($1996{\sim}97$), the modern houses of Open Market(開市場)-Seoul Taegu Kwangju Taejon Chonju were conducted to investigate as above. The traditional house transformed by differentiation and addition of room(kan), the various types were respectively adopted for the korean reforming and western cultural house. In the layout of room, the types of plan were gradually concentrated from the single wings of korean traditional house. The korean traditional house was later improved through the introduction of entrance, corridor, and internal toilet/bathroom. But the korean under-floor heating system(andal) and a series of three rooms had been entirely maintained, composed of master bedroom/living room(daechung)/room. And the traditional town house with shop and storage, being built closely to each other and walled up both sides, it had taken gradually the extensive characteristics in itself. By the displacement of shop/dwelling/ storage. the various types were respectively adopted for the separated, multi-storied, and complex type. The type of them was gradually changed to the narrow and linear form. And so with the stockpile of fundamental datas about modern houses in korean urban areas, we expect these results contribute to the knowledge of the spatial characteristics of urban house at present which are required to the understanding of transition as well as types.
