A Case Study on Virtual Reality Service at a University Library (국내 대학도서관 가상현실(VR) 서비스에 관한 사례 연구)

  • The purpose of this study is to propose ways to improve the Virtual Reality (VR) service in Korea through the user evaluations of a university library that provide users with VR experiences as a new technology. With the advent of the 4th industrial revolution, interests in the VR industry increase and access to technology is strengthened. The kinds of VR services at the university libraries and the status of VR services at the domestic and foreign libraries were analyzed. After carrying out user surveys and in-depth interviews with VR service users, improvement plans were suggested according to the users' opinions and the analysis of domestic and foreign case studies.

  • Edutech, which combines education and information technology, is in the spotlight. Core technologies of the 4th Industrial Revolution have been actively used in education. Students use an AI-based learning platform to self-diagnose their needs. And get personalized training online with a cloud learning platform. Recently, a new educational medium called smart speaker that combines artificial intelligence technology and voice recognition technology has emerged and provides various educational services. The purpose of this study is to suggest a way to use smart speaker educationally to overcome the limitation of existing education. To this end, the concept and characteristics of smart speakers were analyzed, and the implications were derived by analyzing the contents provided by smart speakers. Also, the problem of using smart speaker was considered.

  • Throughout the era of the fourth industrial revolution, automation is becoming more important. Recently, business automation solutions using Robotic Process Automation (RPA) are also attracting attention. Compared to the rapidly growing RPA market, related IT technologies have not been widely available and problems such as manpower shortage are growing. Therefore, this study identifies the definition and characteristics of RPA, classification by type of operation, and the impact of RPA solutions and introduction, which have significant impact on the enterprise in a short period of time. In addition, we present the development direction of RPA through implications.

  • Due to the rapid development of information and communication, we live in the smart age of information society. Smart Factory, which integrates Information and communication technology, is being hailed as the technology of the $4^{th}$ industrial revolution. As a result of entering the information society, the factory has made a lot of progress in automation. In this thesis, we used kinetization to research and implement the leisure system of the factory through motion. Kinect provides users with various convenience because they can take advantage of the user's actions and control the system through information. This study is expected to produce a smart factory with video processing, and it is expected to affect the efficiency of the production by providing various conveniences for people working in factories.

  • Since Turing (1950) proposed the development of a machine or system that could think and communicate with humans, many engineers and scientists have made endless efforts to create machines and systems that can replace humans. This effort made the field of artificial intelligence. Recently, as many people have been interested in the 4th Industrial Revolution, research on artificial intelligence technology has been actively carried out not only in the university laboratories but also in the companies as the core technology for realizing the 4th Industrial Revolution. As the artificial intelligence technology has been penetrated deeply into our lives, it is true that our lives have become much easier and more comfortable than in the past, but on the other hand, we have begun to have various negative effects. In this study, we review the social changes caused by artificial intelligence in terms of intelligent products and services. By analyzing positive effects and dysfunctions in various cases of daily life and work environment, we try to identify main policy issues.

A Study on the Influence of Gender Gap on Economic Structural Improvement and Economic Growth (성별 격차가 경제구조 고도화 및 경제성장에 미치는 영향에 관한 연구)

  • Based on "The Global Gender Gap Report" by World Economic Forum, this study identified factors of gender gap and analyzed a relationship between income growth and economic structural improvement with 145 countries. Consequently, sex ratio has a positive relationship with GNI growth rate and ICT development index. Female illiteracy has a negative relationship with only GNI growth rate, and female seat of parliament has a positive relationship with only with only GNI growth rate. Female labor participation rate has a positive relationship with inly ICT development index. These results confirmed the importance of future female labor force. With these results, many countries will need to reconsider discrimination against women and establish strategy based on an institution and a policy to prepare the 4th industrial revolution.

  • This paper explores desirable status of block chain electronic government in relation to the prevention of cybercrimes and corruption. After the research, we suggest four measures to establish desirable status of block chain electronic government. Eventually, transparency is ensured thanks to the core concept of block chain technology, sharing, not only allowing all of the participants to share information and but also preventing them from forging or falsifying information. Furthermore, a wide variety of participants can play a role as monitors in the horizontal structure of governance system, which also assures credibility and reliability on electronic government through trust on block chain itself. Electronic government aims at virtue of expanded electronic democracy which strengthens information democracy. Also, establishment of electronic governance, that emphasizes networking and guarantees, is a desirable image of the future of the fourth industrial revolution. Therefore, the establishment of future electronic government according to the four principles drawn from this paper can be the most suitable model.

  • This study relates to acquiring biological signal without attaching directly to the user using UWB(Ultra Wide Band) radar. The collected information is the respiratory rate, heart rate, and the degree of movement during sleep, and this information is used to measure the sleep state. A breathing measurement algorithm and a sleep state detection algorithm were developed to graph the measured data. Information about the sleep state will be used as a personalized diagnosis by connecting with the medical institution and contribute to the prevention of sleep related diseases. In addition, biological signal will be linked to various sensors in the era of the 4th industrial revolution, leading to smart healthcare, which will make human life more enriching.

An Analysis of Change in the Employment Structure Data Caused by the Industrial Revolution (산업혁명에 따른 고용구조 변화 데이터 분석)

  • It is anticipated that the employment structure of the whole industry will change drastically as the Fourth Industrial Revolution era arrives. Particularly, there are numerous reseraches that the development of artifical intelligence will promote automation causing jobs in manufacturing industry to decrease; thus, the economy will be reorganized with service-centered jobs, which heavily depend on human ability. This study was conducted to verify the trend-forecasting model based on the theoretical analysis. We analyzed the change in employment structure over the past decades in each country and period to gain insights from the changes in the employment structure caused by the Fourth Industrial Revoltion. The results of this study are as follows: First, we investigaed whether the current economy is moving along the U-shaped model suggested by an existing researcher. As a result of the analysis, the data substantiated that the change of the employment structure is moving along the U-shaped model. It is also suggested that this U-shaped trend is expected to accelerate in the era of the Fourth Industrial Revolution. In the future, more accurate data analyses are needed to verify the model, and additional researches on the change in the employment structed is also needed.

The Effects of Familiarity with Unmanned Technology on Expectation of Devel opment in Ground Forces through Structural Equation Model (구조방정식 모델을 활용한 무인화 기술 친숙성이 지상전력 발전 기대감에 미치는 영향)

  • The military is facing an era in which it must take advantage of technologies related with the 4th Industrial Revolution. The representative of the final application of the 4th Industrial Revolution technology is the unmanned system. Many unmanned systems have not yet been harnessed to the army, and it is assumed based on literature studies that improving familiarity with unmanned systems will have a positive effect on force strength in the future. To verify these assumptions, the structural equation model(SEM) was used for quantitative analysis. The results suggest that the increase in familiarity with unmanned systems induces the increase in availability of unmanned systems in each field, which eventually raises the expectation that overall ground force strength will increase. These results imply that the military should reinforce the curriculum that enhances the familiarity of the unmanned system in military education system.
