  • The steady growth in the use of plastic materials in packaging applications has caused an increasing concern about the environment and the problem of solid waste disposal. Therefore, the recycling of plastics is the very important problem, which must be solved technically and environmentally [1]. It is technically feasible to recycle, recover and reuse all of the plastics discarded, but economics limit the degree of recycling at this time.(omitted)

  • Wholly aromatic polybenzoxazoles (PBO) are well established as high performance materials with excellent thermal stability and mechanical properties. Heterocyclic precursor polymers such as polyhydroxyamides (PHA) have been interested in the field of high performance flame retardant polymers. The PHAs can be converted to PBOs when ignited. • Segmented polyurethane elastomers are an important class of polymeric materials consisting of thermodynamically incompatible hard and soft segments. Due to the chemical structural difference between the hard and soft segments, a microphase separation occurs, consisting of crystalline hard domains and amorphous soft domains. (omitted)

  • Polymer blending constitutes a most useful method for the improvement or modification of the physicochemical properties of polymeric materials. Some of the polymer blends exhibit unusual properties, unexpected from homopolymers. An important property of a polymer blend is the miscibility of its component, because it affects the mechanical properties, the morphology, its permeability and degradation [1, 2]. (omitted)

  • Step index POFs(SIPOF) are composed of core polymers and cladding polymers. Poly(methyl methacrylate) (PMMA) and polystyrene (PS) are normally used as core materials. The refractive index of cladding materials should be less than 2-5 % that of the core material. PMMA and fluorinated polymers are used as cladding materials on PS and PMMA core, respectively$^1$. Cladding materials which have lower refractive index than core materials reflect light at less than critical angle, which is transmitted down the core. (omitted)

  • Garment manufacture represents the final stage of processing a finished fabric. The main task of the garment manufacturer is to produce shell structures out of flat fabrics to match the shape of the human body, and the most acceptable means of joining textile materials for apparel use is by sewing. On the sewing process, the bottom layer is pushed forward by the feed-dog, but the presser foot tends to retard the passage of the top layer. Since the friction between the layers is low, is possible that the components will move out of phase and pucker. (omitted)

  • With the introduction of high-tech industries, these days textile products used as advanced materials of semiconductor, transport and medical fields. It was concerned with environmental problem in textile industry lately. So the problem is receiving careful study for high effectiveness and high efficiency of filter media made by nonwoven fabric to get rid of a pollutant. PET filter media produced from conventional methods can not precisely filtrate small particles, because conventional PET filter media has too large pore size. (omitted)
