This study basically investigates the meaning and properties of performance task applicable to mathematics classroom and it finds out how to run effectively performance task activities included in the present mathematics textbooks. To accomplish this, this study deals with twelves kinds of mathematics textbooks for ninth graders and is proceeded on the basis of textbook analysis and teacher interview. Considering a situation that in future mathematics textbook would be developed, according to the analytic results of this study, common understanding of performance task and qualified performance task are needed, a variety of tasks classified by differentiated level are needed. In addition, each task should be dealt with the contents related to curious and interesting real-life situations. Furthermore, fairness of checking and recording should be established and teachers' positive attitudes to applying performance tasks to math class are needed.

The authors have developed a reading & writing textbook for engineering students to improve their communication capability, and also analyzed the outcomes that the students accomplished through the Engineering Reading and Writing class. The reading & writing textbook has been organized to be used as a guidebook with which the engineering students can practically solve the problems that they would face continuously after they finish their regular curriculum and when they are employed. The questionnaire survey analysis has been performed in order to evaluate the textbook contents, lecturing, and learning outcomes for the lecturers and students finished the engineering reading and writing classes. Desirable evaluation has been resulted in the broad areas: subject extraction from the readings, logical understanding, summarizing, practical writing, writing principle, etc.

Purpose of this study is to analyze the validity of textbook content on practical arts for the 6th curriculum, to grasp the content problems and to propose the strategy of reformation to be satisfied with consumer better than supplier. The data collected from 196 elemantary school teachers who lived in Gyungsang-namdo and analized by SPSS/PC(sup)+ package program. The statistical methods used for analysis were frequency, descriptives, validity, t-test, oneway ANOVA. The major findings can be summarised as follows： 1. The textbooks on practical arts for 3rd, 4th, 5th and 6th grades showed unbalanced division for picture, figure, table unite and evaluation type of all units doesn’t show diversity. 2. The validity of textbook contents on practical arts was found to be the highest for 3rd grade textbook and the lowest for 6th grade one. Among the validity of the evaluation items,‘differentiation with other subject’and ‘usefulness of living’showed high scores, wheres ‘fitness of child level’marked lowest score. 3. There was no significant difference Among the validity contents of teachers based on socio-demographic variables.

The purpose of this study is to analyze the visual attention of elementary school students according to the editorial design of the 2007 2009 revised elementary science textbook 'Structure and function of our body'. For this purpose, eye movements were collected while elementary school students were watching real textbooks wearing mobile eye tracker. The BeGaze 3.7 program of SMI company was used analyzing eye movements. Twenty-six elementary school students participated voluntarily in mobile tracking research. Elementary students learned the contents of textbook related to 'digestive organ' and 'respiratory organ' by using double reading learning strategy. The results of this study are as follows. First, as a result of pre- and post-knowledge tests, there was no statistically significant difference in learning effect between 2007 revised and 2009 revised textbook editing design. Second, elementary school students tended to give more visual attention to text than textbook illustrations. Third, the selective attention and persistent attention of elementary students showed a very strong positive correlation (.940), but the selective attention and self-control showed a strong positive correlation (.499). Fourth, students with high level of attention and low level showed high visual occupancy in text than in illustrations. Fifth, elementary school students preferred the 2009 revised science textbook to the 2007 revised.

In this paper, we examine the different viewpoints of teachers and undergraduates on middle school informatics textbook. For this research, a survey is conducted on middle school informatics teachers and undergraduates who are preparing the state examination for informatics-computer teachers. Items of the survey were chosen to investigate the level of completion on the contents and structure of the textbook and to examine overall satisfaction with the textbook. Seven items concerning the level of completion are based on national textbook authorization criteria. A t-test was performed to analyze meaningful difference in perception of textbook between the teacher and student groups. The result shows there is meaningful difference on two items which are 'compliance with informatics curriculum' and 'content selection and organization'.

The purpose of this study was to investigate preservice mathematics teachers' perceptions for mathematics digital textbook. To do this, we provided a questionnaire to 52 preservice mathematics teachers and analysed the questionnaires. The questionnaire was investigated using 5 point scale. The results of this study can be summarized as follows. First, the preservice mathematics teachers' perception on effectiveness of mathematics digital textbook was positive. Second, the preservice mathematics teachers' perception on interaction of mathematics digital textbook was normal. Third, the preservice mathematics teachers' perception on interest of mathematics digital textbook was positive. Fourth, the preservice mathematics teachers' perception on students' health of mathematics digital textbook was normal. Fifth, the preservice mathematics teachers' perception on class-management of mathematics digital textbook was normal. Sixth, some preservice mathematics responded that mathematics digital textbook was efficient to teach a function or a geometry, others responded that paper textbook was more efficient to teach a mathematics.

Objectives The purpose of this study is to compare the common herbs for pain related disease between Yak-Jing and textbook of herbology. Methods We searched the formation of "Koho" and theory of Todo yoshimasu. We selected the common herbs that is used for pain related disease in Yak-Jing and textbook of herbology. These herbs were compared with each other. Result 1. Common Herbs for pain related disease are Ephedrae Herba (麻黃), Aconiti Lateralis Preparata Radix (附子), Euphorbiae Kansui Radix (甘遂), Euphorbiae pekinensis Radix (大戟) Daphnis Genkwa Flos (芫花), Atractylodis Rhizoma (朮), Paeonia Radix Rubra (芍藥), JujubaeFructus (大棗), Gypsum (石膏), Anemarrhenae Rhizoma (知母), Cinnamomi Ramulus (桂枝), Poria (茯苓), Rhei Rhizoma (大黃), Natrii Sulfas (芒草), Pueraiae Radix (葛根). There are some difference between textbook of herbology and Yak-Jing about Aconiti Lateralis Preparata Radix (附子), Paeonia Radix Rubra (芍藥), Atractylodis Rhizoma (蒼朮), Pueraiae Radix (葛根). 2. Preparata Radix (附子) excrete water poisons (水毒) in Yak-Jing, but it has the effect of restore yang and tonify fire (回陽補火) in textbook of herbology. 3. Paeonia Radix Rubra (芍藥) is effective for pathological condition caused by the formation of the band and spasm (結實拘攣) in Yak-Jing, but it is to cure heat pattern in textbook of herbology. 4. Atractylodis Rhizoma (蒼朮) has the effect of water-draining (利水) in Yak-Jing, but it has the effect of dispersing (發散) in textbook of herbology. 5. Pueraiae Radix (葛根) is used in dyspnea and sweating (喘而汗出) in Yak-Jing, but it is to cure engender fluid (生津), skin disease, diarrhea in textbook of herbology. Conclusion There are some difference between textbook of herbology and Yak-Jing in the herb medicine that is used in pain related disease.

Analyzing textbook is the first step for enhancing the level of biology education especially in Korea. Prior studies of textbook analysis have mostly dealt with such topics as terminology analysis, content analysis, relationship analysis of chapters, and comparative studies. However, not much attention was paid to concept system to be learned and to relevance of concepts chosen. Therefore, the purpose of this study is to clarify the concept system and to elucidate the relationship among concepts for effective learning. Novak's concept map was utilized as a theoretical framework for the analysis of chapter I of high school biology textbook. Concept map has several distinctive merits in many aspects such as teaching, learning, and evaluation. It not only makes the understanding of key concepts and proposition a lot easier, but also helps to link prior knowledge and new concepts more effectively. This study will be a basic material for improving textbook for effective biology learning. The conclusions of the study are as follows: 1. Concepts in subchapters were arranged unsystematically or they were overlapping. For more effective understanding, those items should be rearranged. 2. Key concepts are not arrayed properly according to their hierarchy. Therefore, it was hard for students to set up concept structure. 3. The concepts emphasized by bold letters were not selected properly in accordance with their importance. Appropriate concepts should be chosen. 4. Key concepts should be explained by using examples in everyday life for easy understanding. 5. Many concepts in molecular biology is too abstract to grasp their meaning. Therefore, many audio-visual materials should be used to aid concept building.

Digital textbook is noted as a new education materials to realize a new education paradigm with changes in digitalized society. The purposes of this study is investigation of key factors on digital textbook satisfaction by selecting of the three factors(domestic environment factor, teachers factor, school environment factor), analysis of awareness of effect factors on digital textbook satisfaction, and verification for each effect factors' influence on elementary school. 201 elementary school students, 201 their parents, and 12 teachers in Chung-nam were surveyed and factors which influenced on digital textbook satisfaction were analyzed. According to the results, firstly, there was a statistical significant difference in domestic internet environment, device owned environments, the utilization of the internet for the purpose of education and using time, device type of teachers, lesson time of digital textbook used in class and time ratio. Secondly, multiple regression analysis was conducted to find out the influence on digital textbook, the Awareness of parents about digital textbook, The lesson time using digital textbook by teacher, The utilization of the internet for the purpose of education affected satisfactions significantly in the order. This study has significant implications about which we have provided the effort needed to use digital textbook.

The purpose of this study is to analyze illustrations, contents, and experiments in 6 kinds of science textbook from the 9th grade covering the phases of the Moon (on the phases of the Moon in six 9th grade science textbook) and to suggest coherent and effective contents and frame of the science textbook. Hence, the researcher decided the study problem. The study problems are as follows; 'Are the illustrations in the science textbook presented to help understand the phases of the Moon depending on the position of the observer?', 'Does the contents of the book clearly mention the phases of the Moon?', 'Can students understand the phases of the Moon through the experiments in the science textbook?', 'Do illustrations, contents, and experiment of the science textbook consistently explain the phases of the Moon?'. 10 persons (9graduate students including the researcher) took part in this study. All things unanimously agreed upon by all participants were reflected in the results. The results are as follows: First, the universal observer's view point is mixed with the earth observer's view in the illustration of these science textbook regarding the phases of the Moon. Moreover, illustrations of some textbooks are presented with such words as 'sunrise', 'midnight' and consequently contain too much. Second, the contents of the science textbook concerning the phases of the Moon is not described clearly. In addition, they don't give clear and detailed explanations for the reason of these changes. Third, all of the textbooks, except one textbook, describe the experiment regarding the phases of the Moon with the earth observer's view point but don't specifically mention that the view point is that of the earth observer's view point. Fourth, illustrations, contents, and experiments in the science textbook don't coherently explain the phases of the Moon. In addition, it is confirmed through the process of the result analysis that the described contents in the science curriculum is not well constructed or logical.
