The characteristics, intensity and direction of groundwater.surface water interactions are controlled by groundwater head gradients, hydraulic conductivity and by the riverbed geometry. As a result of the spatial heterogeneity of these factors and the subsequent variability of the impact of these interaction processes, the water balance is also characterized by highly variable spatial patterns and temporal dynamics. However, spatially detailed studies concerning the spatio-temporal variability of the extent and intensity of surface-groundwater interactions have been limited to the investigation of cross-sections or small stream reaches. Thus, the extensive study on the watershed based interaction between surface water and groundwater is to be analyzed. In this study, the intensity and the spatial extent of interactions along the stream were found by using integrated SWAT-MODFLOW model. This integrated modeling approach was applied to Anyangcheon watershed in Korea. The effluent stream characteristics were found in the watershed, namely, baseflow was annually discharged except heavy rainy periods. The intensity and the spatial extent of surface-groundwater interactions in different sub-watersheds were found on a daily basis. The influential extent of surface-groundwater interaction become larger as the watershed elevations are lower.

Soil moisture is a key factor to control the exchange of water and energy between the surface and the atmosphere. In recent, many researches for spatial and temporal variability analyses of soil moisture have been conducted. In this study, we analyzed the spatio-temporal variability of soil moisture in Walnut Gulch Experimental Watershed, Arizona, U.S. during the Soil Moisture Experiment 2004 (SMEX04). The spatio-temporal variability analyses were performed to understand sensitivity of five observation sites with precipitation and relationship between mean soil moisture, and its standard deviation and coefficient of variation at the sites, respectively. It was identified that log-normal distribution was superior to replicate soil moisture spatial patterns. In addition, precipitation was identified as a key physical factor to understand spatio-temporal variability of soil moisure based on the temporal stability analysis. Based on current results, higher spatial variability was also observed which was agreed with the results of previous studies. The results from this study should be essential for improvement of the remotely sensed soil moisture retrieval algorithm.

Mallipo is a representative beach contaminated by Hebei Spirit oil spill accident in December 2007. This study aims to compare the differences of two seasons (winter and summer) for the spatio-temporal variation patterns of oiling status in the whole area and divided five regions of Mallipo beach. In the whole area, the decreasing rate of average TPH (total petroleum hydrocarbon) in winter was twice greater than summer during four years. According to the spatial variation pattern analysis of oiling status using weighted mean center and weighted standard distance, the oil concentration was clustered on southwestern region in winter, however, the TPH was dispersed in the whole area in summer. Temporal variation pattern of TPH in each of Mallipo's five regions showed that TPH had been consistently decreased in winter, but oil concentration had not been changed in summer since 2009 except the southwestern region. Therefore, in order to evaluate and predict the progress of oiling status, it is needed to analyze the spatio-temporal variation pattern of TPH using spatial analysis after separating data into seasons (e.g., winter and summer). In addition, time series analysis is useful in the regional scales through spatial partitioning rather than the whole beach area for the understanding of temporal variation pattern.
This study examined temporal and spatial patterns of bioclimatic perceived sultriness in South Korea by analyzing the climatology of heat index calculated from ambient temperature and relative humidity for the period of 26 years (1973-1998). As results, spatially, bioclimatic sultriness above all thresholds frequently occurred mainly in the central western inner area, the southwestern inner area, and the southeastern inner area of South Korea. Especially, Miryang in the southeastern inner area of South Korea was proved to be, bioclimatically, the sultriest area in South Korea that has recorded frequent high heat index. Temporally, frequency of sultriness in the contiguous South Korea significantly increased in the 1990s. Specifically, In 1994, frequencies of heat index exceeding each threshold was the highest all over South Korea. Normally, the sultriness with high heat index exceeding 40.6$^{circ}C$ occurred mainly for the period of between the end of July generally after Summer Changma and the beginning of August before another small rainy season of years. These temporal-spatial distributions of bioclimatic sultriness in South Korea showed various patterns regionally, affected by physical and anthropogenic climatic factors such as topography, latitude, altitude, water bodies or aforestration, urbanization, and industrialization as well as movements of large-scale air masses.

Land surface temperature is essential for monitoring abnormal climate phenomena such as UHI (Urban Heat Islands), and for modeling weather patterns. However, the quality of surface temperature obtained from the optical space imagery is affected by many factors such as, revisit period of the satellite, instance of capture, spatial resolution, and cloud coverage. Landsat 8 imagery, often used to obtain surface temperatures, has a high resolution of 30 meters (100 meters rearranged to 30 meters) and a revisit frequency of 16 days. On the contrary, MODIS imagery can be acquired daily with a spatial resolution of about 1 kilometer. Many past attempts have been made using both Landsat and MODIS imagery to complement each other to produce an imagery of improved temporal and spatial resolution. This paper applied machine learning methods and performed downscaling which can obtain daily based land surface temperature imagery of 30 meters.

This study was to investigate the Influence of smart phone use on gait in healthy adults. Twenty healthy adults were recruited in this study. All subjects performed twice for each normal gait and smart phone gait. The normal gait walked at their chosen speed, and the smart phone gait walked while watching the video. GAITRite system was used to identify the temporal and spatial variables related to the gait pattern during walking. Statistical analysis was analyzed by paired t-test. In comparison of temporal variables, smart phone gait was significantly lower in gait speed and cadence than in normal gait(p<.05), and was significantly longer in single support time and double support time(p<.05). In comparison of spatial variables, smart phone gait was significantly shorter in step length and stride length than in normal gait(p<.05) and significantly longer in step width(p<.05). The results of this study demonstrated that smartphone use can negatively affect the correct gait patterns during walking.

In this paper, a new method to efficiently generate the 3-D(three-dimensional) video holograms for 3-D moving scenes, which is called here the TSR-N-LUT method, is proposed by the combined use of temporal-spatial redundancy(TSR) of 3-D video images and novel look-up table(N-LUT) technique. That is, in the proposed scheme, with the differential pulse code modulation (DPCM) algorithm, temporally redundancy redundant data in the inter-frame of a 3-D video images are removed between the frames, and then inter-line redundant data in the inter-frame of 3-D video images are also removed by using the DPCM method between the lines. Experimental results show that the proposed method could reduced the number of calculated object points and the calculation time of one object point by 23.72% and 19.55%, respectively on the average compared to the conventional method. Good experimental results with 3-D test moving pictures finally confirmed the feasibility of the proposed method to the fast generation of CGH patterns of the 3-D video images.

Adverse impact of Particulate Matters(PM10, PM2.5; PMs) significantly affects daily lives. Major countermeasures for reducing concentration of PMs were focused on emission source without considering spatial difference of PMs concentration. Thus, this study analyzed spatial·temporal distribution of PMs with observation data as well as potential contributing factors on PMs concentration. The annual average concentration of PMs have been decreased while the particulate matter warnings and alerts were significantly increased in 2018. The average concentration of PMs in spring and winter was higher than the other seasons. Also, the spatial distribution of PMs were also showed seasonality while concentration of PMs were higher in Seoul-metropolitan areas in all seasons. Climate variables, emission source, spatial structure and potential PM sinks were selected major factors which could affects on ambient concentrations of PMs. This paper suggest that countermeasures for mitigating PM concentration should consider characteristics of area. Climatic variables(temperature, pressure, wind speed etc.) affects concentrations of PMs. The effects of spatial structure of cities(terrain, ventilation corridor) and biological sinks(green infrastructure, urban forests) on concentration of PMs should be analyzed in further studies. Also, seasonality of PMs concentration should be considered for establishing effective countermeasures to reduce ambient PMs concentration.
In this study, the future expected discharges are analyzed for Daecheong and Yongdam Dam Watershed in Geum River watershed using A1B scenario based RCM with 27 km spatial resolutions from Korea Meteorological Agency and SWAT model. The direct use of GCM and RCM data for water resources impact assessment is practically hard because the spatial and temporal scales are different. In this study, the problems of spatial and temporal scales were settled by the spatial and temporal downscaling from watershed scale to weather station scale and from monthly to daily of RCM grid data. To generate the detailed hydrologic scenarios of the watershed scale, the multi-site non-stationary downscaling method was used to examine the fluctuations of rainfall events according to the future climate change with considerations of non-stationary. The similarity between simulation and observation results of inflows and discharges at the Yongdam Dam and Daecheong Dam was respectively 90.1% and 84.3% which shows a good agreement with observed data using SWAT model from 2001 to 2006. The analysis period of climate change was selected for 80 years from 2011 to 2090 and the discharges are increased 6% in periods of 2011~2030. The seasonal patterns of discharges will be different from the present precipitation patterns because the simulated discharge of summer was decreased and the discharge of fall was increased.
A fragmented urban heat island is observed over the Seoul metropolitan area. Long-term (1996-2003) hourly temperature, wind speed and direction, and precipitation data observed at 26 (51) automatic weather stations (AWS) in Seoul (Gyeonggi prevince) makes it possible to reveal more dynamic spatial and temporal patterns of the urban heat island in this area than previously revealed.
